Definitely thinking of getting these. Do you think some clear packing tape on the bottom of the boxes would pretend the cardboard from tearing or would the tape just get all mangled?
I think you'd run the risk of the tape getting mangled and causing other problems, but it may be worth trying on one first. The amount it takes off isn't a lot. I've had these for years now and I'm not in them every day but I do at least to grab something or file away comics frequently and it's not to the point where it's unusable.
I purchased some simple plastic pallet-type things off amazon because these are in a basement and I wanted at least a small degree of protection against water coming in just in case.

Awesome, thanks!
What is under your bottom row? Mine are bowing out on the bottom row and are just on carpet and up against a wall.
