Bosses on the thumbnail are from the trailers. I was really looking forward to this game, as I love Cuphead. I appreciate the effort, but unfortunately it's miles away from being a serious Cuphead competitor. I didn't find it very fun, mostly because of the levels. It looks nice and the boss fights are solid, but the levels in between are boring and really stretched to add more playtime.
Just by watching the game play alone, I can tell that this game is so slow in all of the wrong ways. I get if it's easier overall but it does not seem to be a well-paced game even with it just being bosses
They still bent the knee to a very few "woke" and deranged American NPC freaks and imperialists of Twitter who falsely got "offended" by indian birds as antagonists and they replaced them with cowboys, and those psychos and idiots wouldn't have played their game anyway. I'm sorry, but this is a behaviour I really cannot encourage or support, not financially nor vocally. I support people and developers with guts and balls, integrity. Something that Cuphead creators have but not these.
The game looks very unpolished (lack of sound effects, lack of invincibility frames when hit), and the design is mediocre at best, but for a game made by only TWO people dealing with a very tight budget, it looks fine. I hope the devs continue working on the game. It has potential, but it needs more development time before it can be considered enjoyable.
Due to the backlash of Enchanted Portals being called a cup head rip off it was really hard to get funding for the game. They were pretty lucky to find someone to help fund the game after their kickstarter campaign failed to meet its goal.
@@damonlam9145 Funding for what? Blackjack and hookers? Joking, but not joking really. They asked for 120k in April/May 2020 . Okay, the art requires lots of work and so does the soundtrack, both turned out stellar. Gemma Torrellas is clearly the talent of the two. But bland straight corridors and missing SFX ? Really? Wtf did they do those 3 years, keep in mind they already showcased nearly every boss back then, so a good bunch of the assets had already been made. These days you can program(heck you dont even need to code) such a 2D game in less than a month with something like Game Maker, Contruct or even Unity .. and what did they use? Unreal engine.... WTF! Seems counterproductive. And about the SFX.. Dont tell me they couldnt look up one of the many free sound databases, whats the excuse? Seems like damage control and released an early beta build. Hope they improve it alot tho. Especially since it comes out on consoles aswell.
The lack of sound effects really make it feel so off. Sound effects not only make it feel more lively, but it's also good for letting the player know when certain attacks are coming! I really feel this game would be tons better with proper sound design at the very least.
Also if you compare "walking enemies" stage in the air with this game vs cuphead, I feel like in cuphead the background goes faster and gives the illusion that well, it's faster. Look at the cow or bull, theyre SO SLOW
Yea, there's another problem here that not many people are pointing out. Set attack patterns. every boss has them and almost none of them home in on the player. Take the cow's 2nd fight for example. it doesn't help that they way they both tried to patch it up is with just adding more stuff... which is also mainly a set attack pattern
adding some attacks that home in on the player helps, almost none that I have seen does that. and most importantly a fixed attack pattern isn't fully a bad thing, especially if the main challenge is learning it, what this game did wrong is that it adds a lot of random stuff that doesn't fit the flow of the battle, not to mention the plethora of blind spots many of the bosses has... great examples of games that does fixed attack patterns right is touhou with it being a bullet hell where all you mainly do is shoot and dodge, it does have its share of blind spots but with how hard the games can get it's more like a breath of fresh air after being trapped in a muggy hell. and rabi-ribi, especially with its 1st final boss- complete fixed attack pattern, but with how she attacks you stay on your toes since you gotta learn the way you are meant to dodge the attacks and the fact there are barely blind spots in that fight, it also removes your ability to shoot in that fight so her attacks are meant to also to make it get tricky to get to her to deal dmg. If you gonna imply fixed attack patterns, you gotta look at other examples, even if it's from other genres of the game you are planning to make.
I think it should be more continuous. In the first phase you can see how all the traps and UFOs come all at once then dissappear for ten seconds. It's ok if the player can kind of stand in one spot for this phase since it's only the second boss. But that dance phase could've been something really cool. Like it could allow the player to shoot but force them to continuously move to the left or right, not being allowed to stand still since he's boogeying. This game has good ideas and I dont want it to die because "grr it's cuphead but bad" but it just needs design changes to make it fun.
One of the main issues many find in this game it's the lack of sound effects, like the sound of foot running, cats meowing, bat wings flapping, water splashing, glass breaking, etc.
I agree, I don't wanna be Cruel, if this game was to Greatly-Inspired by Cuphead, much like Cuphead, they needed to maybe put a little more time a lot more in the Animation, Boss fights, etc. cause so far, the 1st fight was like a flash game imo
As much as I love the game and want it to be as successful as possible, it's not ready for the public yet. By the look of things, It just needs more work and improvements. However with PC games like these, if modding became a thing for this game (which is highly unlikely because of the recent reviews), the modders would have improved the game and made it succeed that the main developers were trying to get through. But yeah, it's an okay-looking game, but it's just not ready...
This game feels like the dollar tree version of cuphead, from the stock sound effects to the very noticeable drop in animation quality when the phases progress, like the hermit crab actually had some really nice animation in my opinion but then when it got to phase two it went downhill, this game had so much potential but because of the budget they couldnt use that potential, and that is just disappointing
Legit A boss based of a famous musician is really fucking cool But it was regulated to a mini-boss Which is just a kick in the balls to it cause in my opinion it's the best boss
@@troytheperson139 edit: now that i have played and beated the game. I get why those 2 are so short. They are fases of the final boss and your hp carries between fases. And that the final world (world 7) would only be 3 fases long.
