I am anxious about doing my interview. I just need to schedule it and start to practice. How many minutes to do you suggest per slide? I figured there are 20 slides, so about 4 minutes per slide and then a little intro in the beginning and then a goodbye at the end? What do you think?
@@IndependentTeacherAcademy Oh my goodness. I just realized what I was asking and what I said. It would make sense that the time spent on each slide is 1 minute because they are 25 minute classes. I notice that, when I watch sample interviews, the teacher is saying, "Hello, Palfish!" Will you do that when you teach a real class, too?
TJ D no I don’t. I say hello to my student and ask their name and age and how they are today. Depending on the student. I have all regulars usually, so I’ll usually ask something more personal now. When do you go back to school? What are your plans for today? Did your pregnant cat have her babies yet? Did you finish your book? Etc. you get to be a part of their life after a while.

I had my interview today and I was so nervous I wasn’t able to circle on the screen 😢 I know it’s a pretend student but I heard you also need to circle everything when you ask circle the nose etc. 😢
Jillian Shanahan no I have an iphone11 I just totally forgot cause I was nervous and alzo I used the zoom effect I tried to draw a circle and I can’t I thought that I don’t need to 💔
You can only apply once but if they deny you you could possibly reach out and ask for a second interview. Let them know there were technical issues (only if you’re denied) and see what happens.
Hi, Jillian. Thank you for these two videos, there are very helpful. I did my demo but got a no from PalFish. They explain that not having a teaching certificate is one of the reasons why you can get turned down. But they didn't specify or give any feedback and I would like to know if getting a teaching certificate will do anything for me in this situation or they simply didn't like my performance. I'm not sure how to contact them directly. Thank you in advance

I have a cut out of a monkey... do I need to go get a monkey, dog and cat before Friday and use them? Would using the AR's be enough or no? Kim Briley you’ll be assigned a mentor after you’re hired. A cheap prop to use would be a piece of paper with eyes, nose, and mouth drawn on it. You can fold it to use and unfold it at the end. I would def use additional props

I tried logging in to practice for my interview but I says my devices are not compatible. I have an iPhone 7 and an iPad. What could be wrong. And will it work ? It went into the classroom but I'm afraid it will be messed up. Thanks
I tried the interview with my iPhone but it didn't work correctly, so I did not pass. Can I still do free Talk? I haven't gotten an answer from anyone on that point.
Jillian Shanahan it allowed me to go into the classroom, but didn't let me open anything up except the goodbye song. I improvised using some props I have. I showed my classroom and stars, etc. Then I used a book to do a short class on eyes, nose and mouth. I filled the 15 minute time and then used the goodbye song. I thought I did well, but I guess if my phone is not compatible it was my downfall. My iPhone an iPad both let me do all the other things, just not the interview class.
15 minutes. They will judge your pacing. I did mine without headphones, just make sure your audio is clear and the background is quiet if you won’t be using headphones

I just moved back to the States from South Korea, so since I am self-quarantining, I don't have a phone number yet. Hello. Great video. I wanted to ask. The require 15 to 20 minutes topa for the interview. Since there are some slides that need to cover a little more time. Is it ok if you exceed the 20 minute mark?
Kaila Franceschi it’s okay but I would really recommend sticking to 15-20 minutes that they tell you to. You don’t need to do the whole lesson, and it will show them you’re good with time management.

TJ D you only need to do 15 minutes for the interview. With most classes it works out to be about a minute per slide

Kheya Hay I recommend doing that. I’m not sure if they’ll take off for that. You should be able to circle though. Is your device old?
