25 years working psychiatric. We all have free will to make decisions and the people who are in prison made several bad decisions and keep stacking these decisions. The people that make more good decisions than bad end up better off. I started off in my life in a toxic family and spending 15 years in extreme poverty with a serious Traumatic Brain Injury . K,....I was barely able to speak and learn in school and I kept hanging around cruel Narcissists that picked on me. I said awful things to myself and I became very depressed and angry for my first 20 years of life. I turned all that around and started to make better and better decisions and became educated, married to a good empathic and loving girl and went to work Psychiatric for the Government. K,.....I have been watching you and listening to your wisdom which is quite profound so I believe in your success and happiness in life. ONLY, 1 in 50 million people your age would know that decisions are the thing that you can stack to have a good life. I would put my money on you for success and happiness and you can take that cheque to the bank and cash it. K, you don't have to follow other to College just find out who you are and follow that.
I'd partially disagree. Yes it does not come from external things, but I believe that it comes from fulfilling one's true internal desires. If you truly want to achieve X and you do achieve it, like I bet you are going to be happy. I think it's rather "Changing the external world" by following the inner one. And I believe that as long as you will influence the external world by using the inner world drive, you are going to make right decisions and be truly happy.
My advice would simply be to not exude pressure on one's self to make a rash decision or choose a path on an ill-informed account. Having a little patience with one's self is a small sacrifice made in the meantime that is likely to pay off big time down the road
I wish I had this advice 16 years ago before I started college. Now, I’m “stuck” in a job where management gaslight me every chance they get, however, I am in an environment where the odds are in my favor. I just have to figure out which way to go. Leave what I’m doing completely OR continue to do what I’m doing in a different environment.
Thank you so much for this video Kev. I've been struggling to figure out what I want to do for a career and I've been settling on boring but easily accessible jobs. Now I think it's time I start moving forward by making a decision based in part on what I ENJOY doing. I want to become a pastry chef!
I agree with all that you have said, there is truly no need to rush. I think what makes people believe that there is a need to rush is the pressure of time whenever a person has a realistic goal (and has set a deadline) and yet the goal may or may not happen due to things that are beyond one's control. For example, one desires to marry a person at the age of 35, the reason being that he/she is a child born from parent/s who married quite late (such as around 36 to 40 years old) and has experienced difficulties (such as reaching retirement while his/her child is still in college), and therefore would not want his/her future children to experience the same. However, this person is nearing his/her age of 30, has met some people, but all not his/her type........ Therefore, the need to rush.
It's pretty simple. Work towards a well-paying job or sector and earn tons of money. Only a fraction of people love their jobs. If you get good at what you do and receive good pay for it, you will eventually love it and make tons of money in the process. It is just an illusion that there is a job you love doing at the start.
Hey Kevin, I can relate to you on wanting to have a mentor to guide me in life and to help me pursue my goals. I felt pretty lost and directionless in my teens years and in college and I believe having a mentor could’ve helped me find a sense of purpose in life
