  • one of the biggest transit-related events of the year is finally here! muni heritage weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year, and it’s enjoyed by more than just transit fans and advocates! i did not get a chance to get on this E800 last year, so i made it a priority to get on this time. thankfully, muni reverted the trolleybus routing back to what it was in 2022; i was not a fan of last year’s loop. this runs along the former 20 columbus route. unfortunately, it does not seem like they made sure the route was ready for operation; a tree was in the overhead catenary and caused the E800 to dewire (seen at 13:55, occurring at the intersection of columbus and pacific/kearny). the ride quality seems to have gone down; there are many jitters when the bus suddenly accelerates from a slow speed, which supposedly wasn’t the case before. the other half of the route and the return trip was a lot more eventful, and will be featured on my channel as well!

Great video! When the Trolley de-wired due to a tree, would the same tree cause regular service Trolley buses that pass through the area to de-wire as well? Or is there no regular Trolley bus service along that stretch of road currently?

@@busrailfan the operator immediately called for the tree to be trimmed because the branches would indeed have interfered with any trolleybus operations, and we saw the work happening on the way back. no regular trolleybus route currently runs on that stretch; the 30 stockton joins columbus avenue at stockton. the 20 columbus and 41 union routes used to utilize those wires when they existed. thank you for watching!
