- Well.... I guess I did okay but I wanted it to be better but I guess I didn't spend enough time listening and figuring out how to emulate Steve Perry better. Ah well. See below for my secret weapon: my friend, P.S. hehehhe
FYI, I sang this 7 semitones LOWER than the tune then pitched me up 7 so that I could sing it in MY range. That process causes some audio degradation but I make up for it with some multiband eq and stuff.

Well, thanks but my voice changes from song to song pretty drastically so I'd say my voice is never any one sound. Hard to say what my REAL voice is but I try to push it toward the orig singers as much as I can.

I'm a family practice P.A., with a lot of patients in the 45-75 year old age bracket. In addition to all the usual medical crap we discuss (diabetes, blood pressure, colonoscopies, etc), I also routinely ask what they do as hobbies. Things like projects, or goals, or fun stuff they are working on. Because mental health is important too. It's sad really. I have soooooo many people that just sit in a chair and smoke and watch tv and do nothing with their lives. And they are so unhappy. I wish they (and even myself) could be more like this. Pursuing a passion with energy and creativity. Keep on singing, my friend. You are an inspiration for us all.

Reaper for DAW then I use pitch shifter to pitch the song down into my range (usually -7 semitones for a Steve Perry tune) then I record after some 30 min of rehearse and then I pitch song back up and ME up by that same # of semitones. I add lots of effects to correct some issues with pitch shift degrading the sound. Too hard to type but I use eq, compression, multiband compression to isolate various frequency ranges and compress them to keep them in control and auto-tune to help with tiny pitch flaws and reverb etc. :)
@@TruthSurge Wow that is amazing. I guess it might be easier for me to rent a studio with all that gadgetry for a few hours. I am taking a son by ELO, and have rewritten it. Now I want to sing it, and then release it as a song for my favorite college football team. I use to be able to sing almost anything. But I was singing one night, and it was as if I blew something in my falsetto range. Really weird. I can still hit pretty high notes, and deep bass. But there is a note somewhere in between all that, I have lost. Hence my need for what you use, to hit some of those Jeff Lynne notes from his earlier years. Thanks much.
