@@Greatmeasures I don't know if you've heard Second to Sun? In the same vein as Grima. They're one of my favorite bm outfits to come out of the past decade. They actually have a track that uses kind of the same melody as a Justin Bieber song. I think it's purely coincidental, but it is pretty funny. And it still manages to be a great black metal track. The song is "Virgo Mitt". Oh, it also has a purring cat in the background...
Summoning when? I would advise starting with 'Long Lost to Where no Pathway Goes' from the Stronghold album. This is how reaction channels need to be, absolute bangers the 2 of you.
Grima is also one of my favourite bands of all time so I'm super glad to see a reaction channel feature them I have seen them live last year and it was magical!
Oh wow, Grima! I so rarely see black metal reacted to on YT, love it! There's so, so much beautiful music in the atmospheric and melodic black metal genres. You should hear Caladan Brood - Wild Autumn Wind, masterpiece of atmospheric epic black metal! And Judson, that was beautiful hearing the melody on piano! I am glad you both took the time to read the lyrics, especially for Judson that probably did a lot for his appriciation of the piece as a whole. I'd recommend the same for Caladan Brood if you ever get to them.
Just recently found these guys and fell in love with their entire catalog of music and tbh this is the last channel I expected to see them on 😂 but I am happy u got him to check them out, their drummer is insanely talented as well
Last video I asked for Agalloch and a bit later I found out about this band for similar recommendations and felt awful for not knowing them before. Amazing stuff!
Hey Richard and judson. Just watched your video of Grima. What a band, the atmosphere of that track is on another level. Been listening to them at work all day and I am now hooked, especially when I’ve not normally listened to black metal, but this has open my ears to what it is that makes this music so powerful and has so many people talking about these bands. @@Greatmeasures they really are, I have the luxury of listening to my own music at work and have been listening to them all day today. Just the massive sound atmosphere they create is mind blowing
i found Grima in 2021 due to their Rotten Garden album, it easily made my personal top 10 for that year, didn't end up in top 3 due to some stiff competition from Cynic, Archspire and Mastodon but still a phenomenal album, their ability to evoke strong imagery is very intriguing tho in that case to me its more a rainy forest than cold siberia its obvious Richard is into the band, like a kid that found a cool stick and wants to show it off, don't apologize for feeling like that, a lot of people miss that and its what i love about exploring new music because once in a while i find a gem and get all giddy inside to hear more
I heard of Grima before, but this was great re-introduction for a proper listen, phenomenal song. Reminds me a bit of my recent favorite - Moonlight Sorcery. They released their debut last year and it ended up being my album of 2023. Two great EPs before that.
The music was very haunting and beautiful. Reminds me of the song "Loneliness" from Wintersun. Another song where you feel the cold when listening to it
Hello from Russia! I didn't expect to see Grima here! If you really like them, I advise you to listen to "The Pathway" (Путь), especially the album "songs of death", they also play atmospheric black metal, and also with accordion (but the sound is different from Grima), and they were recently banned from performing in Russia for "insulting the feelings of believers", lol. Thanks for the video!

I had a chance to listen to the Grima live. They are really impressive, they played the entire last album and it sounded like on a record. Their drummer is insane! To clarify some things said at the end of the video. From what I have seen live and on their instagram - they have 3 guitarists(one of them is vocalist) + drummer. They are fully dressed in black robes with wooden masks on their faces with black charcoal painted over their hands and eyes. I don't think they showed their faces to the public or did an interview.
in Red Forest Ritual we see two gitars, vocal and drums. Vocals - Gleb, one of the guitars - his brother Max. Gleb is also on vocals in S2S and Ultar, and Max plays guitar in Ultar and bass in Second to Sun, as far as I know. Saw guys at T'ma festival in the woods under St. Petersburg.
