    I'm the original owner of my 1967 330. My parents gave it to me when I graduated from the 8th grade around 1970. I got it fully restored a few years ago and now, I gig with it all the time for jazz and blues. Great presentation here Bro. Thank you!

    Lovely. I have the Casino. It's my favourite couch guitar - loud enough to be acoustic but not so loud it wakes the house. Also sounds great plugged in like..... well, this.

      @@anthonyrussoband often I’ll grab a guitar to figure out a brief musical idea: I’ll plug in for playing a show, I’ll plug in to get loud enough to play with drumming friends, etc. But when chilling on the couch, I don’t want any “steps” in between me and whatever musical idea. Plus, I adore the added dimension of a vibrating top when plugged in.

    As the owner of a '69 my answer is "it depends." Its format, fully hollow archtop, P-90's, means the sound is kind of fixed. That said, if that is the sound you want nothing else is like it.

      I know it’s almost too difficult of a choice. My 330 is Vintage and my 335 is a reissue, if I had a vintage 335 it would make it a lot harder I’m sure. 😎

    Nice guitar, initially thought it was a v nice reissue, yet visually it appeared with something a little extra. That's clean; can you make it sound like Grant Green? Those guitars are great a bit gritty, they lean into it. I guess GG would sound great whilst wonderfully himself on anything, , I liked those tones out of a 330. Think that's what I was looking for, yet of course it was something else I found. I don't know about better than a 335 but congrats on the guitar. Happy to hear more with that classic instrument.

    I have one of each, a 1967 335 I bought when I was in high school in 1970 and a 1965 330 I bought about 10 years ago. The 335 was my first decent guitar and I played it through the 70's in very loud rock bands (think walls of amplifiers). Today I mostly play at home, record a bit, and overall I'd have to say the 330 gets played all the time and the 335 is in the case most of the time. It seems to me that the 335 is much better when played loud, the 330 much better at low volume jazzy kinds of stuff. The 330 is more articulate and to my ears overall just a better sounding instrument, the 335 by comparison sounds darker more muffled. One thing that kind of surprised me is that my 330 has much stronger pickups, they really drive the amp (65 Deluxe RI) much more than the 335. If you plug the 335 in after having used the 330 you need to turn the amp up to get near the same volume. If I had to let one go it would be the 335, which is very unlikely, as I've owned it now for over 50 years...we're both kind of attached to one another.

    Unequivocally, it is better from a body shape, scale, and tone perspective ala the P-90’s which is the Chef’s kiss. It’s the “Tele” of the Hollow Bodies. Not having a center block does kinda hurt it if you don’t know what your doing but there are ways around that depending on what wiring, cables and amps/effects your going to use. It’s a damn cool guitar. Wish I owned one😆

    Es330, is not a better guitar, it’s a totally different guitar than a 335, both are nice guitars, I prefer the 330 Casino, hollow body guitars because they are old school sounding,very light, great rhythm guitar, you have to keep the 330 under control it’s like a wild horse, but once you get a handle on it,you will always want one in your arsenal! Having said that es 335, is also a fantastic guitar!

    • @anthonyrussoband
      @anthonyrussoband  11 месяцев назад

      No same body dimensions, just fully hollow. The neck seems like it’s smaller because it meets body at the 15th fret. Making the guitar feel more compact and more difficult to reach higher frets. Later models of the es330 (I think around ‘68) changed the neck to be exactly like the es335 joining the body at the 18th fret. Giving more fret access, however arguably changing what makes the es330 the great guitar that it is.

    I have a 330 and a 355, both from the 1960s. If you're playing at low volume at home like the bloozeman in the video, the ES-330 is fun to play and sounds great. It can be a little tricky to play on larger stages at loud volume, but it works well once you get the hang of it.
    The ES-355 is the better all-around instrument because it's more versatile, less prone to feedback (unless you want it to), and just feels better to play (subjective). The lower cost of the ES-330 makes it ideal for people playing at home who don't want to spend a lot of money. I think I paid $450 for mine about 12 years ago.
