Oh my god - any taphead´s dream of the ultimate seductress - live on stage! A really, really cleverly built-up performance, culminating in one litte moment at 4:56 At this point, one tap shoe already on place, there´s a seductive smile, a hand pointing at the shining taps of the second shoe still to be put on, and an affirmative nod to the audience -. yes, my dear friends, the absoulte highlight of this little show will be a ... tap dance!
Probably I´m over-sensitive for such little details, but I am quite sure, many a tap lover secretly longs for a moment like this. In contrast to the heyday of tap in the 1930s, with chorus girls swirling around in sexy outfits, today tap dance is taken too serious by many performers, celebrating their "art" mostly for fellow dancers, completely forgetting that it was once established as a means to entertain audiences working hard for their living and therefore were longing for a bit of glitter (yes, and also sexual allusion) as a positive counterweight for their dayly struggle. Therefore many of us old tapheads are so fond of burlesque tap dancing. This explanation given, the little moment I described sums it all up as the very core of the whole performance: The enjoyment being allowed to watch a sensual woman making a show of putting a pair of tap shoes on her pretty feet. I do not now if this very moment I descibed happened by chance or was an integral part of the performance - but it made my day, my week, my year .... A moment deserving to be remembered. Thanks a lot for sharing.
