in the years from about 1997 to 2003 i painted at night almost exclusively to the music of this band. When I look at these paintings today, they seem very otherworldly to me.
the first song is called "green desert". an almost metallic heaviness paired with a living drummer, an unsurpassable song that grabs me every time I hear it.
I saw Pink Floyd in Philly , June 1975 at the Spectrum for the Wish You Were Here tour ... excellent mind-blowing concert plus they played some of their stuff from Dark Side of the Moon . They also did the whole Animals album which wasn't as good . I remember they had these weird balloon type sculptures of a fat family floating up near the ceiling , and even a big fat floatingTV ... people kept throwing things up toward the ceiling at them hahaha .

This is a such a beautiful piece of music. Love the synths and drums in the middle. When you consider the creative output of TD, I put this in their top ten.
My first exposure to this track was back in the late 90's on a double cd compilation of early TD material called "The Analogue Space Years". I had already heard a good deal of TD's "Blue Years" stuff growing up in the 70's thanks to my brothers and of course through the 80's thanks to all their film scores that they did. But that compilation was my first exposure to the origins of TD (remember despite being released in '86 the album was recorded in '73) and "Green Desert" was my fave track on that compilation. And I was so pleased to hear the very brief except of this piece on that one episode of Stranger Things.
I loved them going back several decades and I heard this when it first came out and had the tape and I played it to death it's really too bad so many people don't know about how great Tangerine Dream is regretfully every single time they came to the TOWER Theatre and Upper Darby just at the edge of West Philly I was unable to see them and that is the best venue because it is small and has great Acoustics as an intimate place and I've seen a lot of great musicians there . I love this and they're Poland CD and I can't remember the name of the one that had force majeure on it that was a great one also
i advice that was not a brief excerpt it should be entire during the episode maybe i was drunk but i remember i was shocked my mind remember almost the full track during the episode

@@AMONAMARTHHEAD One song on the "Thief" soundtrack (1981) is a straight rip off of Comfortably Numb (1979). TD owes far more to PF than the other way round.
@Mr. Roboto their greatest masterpiece is the soundtrack to legend. And I have all their music, they are amazing. Its just that one song from thief soundtrack, copies david gilmour's solo almost note for note! Still sounds amazing though.
@@freestylerflatearthaklnz6032 I remember when that movie Thief first came out in video ... we were watching it over a friend's house and my girlfriend's husband had fallen asleep on the couch while watching it . I was thinking , wow , what great music ... just then he woke up and said the music was so good I thought I was dreaming it . We weren't surprised it was Tangerine Dream ... but it does seem as if they took from Pink Floyd
It would be interesting to hear what the '73 version would have sounded like, I imagine that without the remix there would have been something else in place of that guitar.
@Mr. Roboto Regretfully part of their morphing may have been due to copying off of Pink Floyd . As much as I love Tangerine Dream I have always loved Pink Floyd from day one when I was a kid .

listening to this on a balcony overlooking the Tirana skyline. Not sure it's my balcony, but I can confirm I am off my tits. If the kids ever get to see this post, I am sorry, yes I did drown the cat. Oh, lucky me I've found a bottle of gin...on someone else's balcony. This might be the epitome of eletronic music and a bit of psychedelic rock. What a greatly composed piece.
I think that would be Shine on You Crazy Diamond. TAngerine dream did a lot of imitation of Pink Floyd.

TD's "Green desert" is not far from PF's "obscured by clouds" i guess
Love this. Takes me back to late night / early morning drives in my younger years.

One of the favorites

Wundervoller Sound. Vor allem die E Gitarre
Nothing to say... AMAZING !!!
Green Desert Album Strepitoso che , a mio modesto parere , avrebbe meritato maggiori attenzioni discografiche. Ottimo Franke alle Percussioni.
This song has a real Pink Floyd vibe to it, reminds me a lot of Obscured By Clouds.
