Antivirals

ssRNA: antivirals shows a brief history of the development of antivirals and introduces some of the current strategies of combating RNA viruses. These are: cell-based high throughput screening; and molecule design with the help of X-ray crystallography aimed to inhibit the function of a viral protein necessary for replication. Finally, we have a look at three specific inhibitors - Pleconaril, Amantadine and Neuraminidase inhibitors - which illustrate how virus replication can be inhibited at different stages.
