Holy crap! You've made a connection for me that I wasn't anticipating. In September 2022, I passed through Nicholson and under the viaduct on my way to Connecticut (taking the scenic route to avoid highways). You come into this tiny little town and suddenly there's this massive structure looming over everything. It stuck in my memory as something to look into. Once my trip was over, I looked it up on Google Maps and traced the railroad as far as I could, but as with a lot of railroads, they just kinda go on forever or eventually get muddled with a bunch of other lines. Very cool to learn it was originally intended to be a (relatively) high speed line.
Sad thing is this bridge is now 100% off limits. About a month or two ago some guy un-alived himself from the bridge. Now state patrols are constant there
Hello - I was somehow recommended your channel and am quite happy that I was. Will you be looking at the anthracite coal region in PA? Some fascinating (and IMO, under told) history there. Same goes for the adjacent slate region.
Ladies and Gentleman this is a friendly warning as last I heard we could be fined arrested for being on the viaduct over the Delaware River if caught by State Police. I've also been aware that we are to have 3 trains added on the EL Shortcut in about 3 years. Also A returned trip from New York to Pittsburgh is to be added about the same time period.
@0.50 spot-- well THATS a first for me! I live in Bmore so graffiti is nothing new but what IS new is: the UNIBOMBER being plastered across a public wall!! 😆Lmdao Never seen that b4!!

I’m not very familiar with the Anthracite Region, I’ve only been there a couple times. But I would love to explore more and find some stories to tell!
