Interesting to hear the different takes on Elena Ferante’s writing. I have a great deal of admiration for translators and Editors. What a responsibility.

I would agree that I felt bereft after finishing the Neopolitan novels. I devoured them and was spent when they were done.

Her books are all, without exception terrific writing and her translator must be remarkable as the power within it is undiminished. Frantumaglia, interviews with her about her writing is also wonderful. Read everything and you will be enriched.

I am an American , quite educated (doctorate) and speak Italian ;learned from my grandmother and grandfather . I enjoy the author because my soul is Italian . but only the male and the American woman are understandable; sorry, the millenials are pathetic and I can not understand them although I am a native english speaker
