I don't know if you know the story behind this song, but this was JRB's response to the 2016 election results. Finding comfort in it now could not be more appropriate. 🩷
This is a beautiful and moving rendition from both artists. I listened to this song on Jason Robert Brown's album How We React and How We Recover countless times during the waning years of a certain presidential term and through the Covid era. It always made me cry, then pushed me to get up and get going. We have a chance to keep Hope alive in the next few months, because we're not going back!
You already had me so moved with your incomparable, heartfelt way to deliver a song, the beautiful touching lyrics, and, of course, the amazing execution on the piano!!!... And then, the colors started to subtly appear at the end! 🥹🤧❤️🔥🎙🎹🎬🙌🏼💯 BRAVO!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 And thank you for spreading, hope, kindness, and positivity!!!🙏🏼✨️
Wow what a performance from two masters of their craft. Just beautiful and so moving. Our son was lucky enough to have a day with JRB years ago when he was in high school. He coached him through his performance of It All Fades Away for college auditions. Happy to say he’s now graduated and a loving his career as a performer. 😊
This song was JRB's response to the 2016 election. That's why JRB is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. (And, of course, BSM is one of the greatest performers of all time. Seeing him perform "Make Them Hear You" in "Ragtime" is hands down the most memorable theater moment of my life. I swear, the building shook! 🤯) My reaction to the 2016 election was terror and a lot of curse words. But we are not going back! 💙
Came here today and found hope again in the bleakest of times. Thank you
