I am always standing and smiling and it does make a huge difference. People feel more welcomed and they started talking to me and checking out my items. Sometimes I don't make a sale on spot but they take my card and place custom order later.
I agree with greeting people when they come into your booth. I usually greet vendors when I enter their booths and if they don't respond/ignore I just leave. (Especially if they are not busy)
