I think this bike could be called Tankenstein! Keep the videos coming, I look forward to each episode! :)
Remarkable effort getting this vid out considering how busy you were at the weekend Del. This build just gets better and better.
Thanks Edward, we had a great time and it was all worth it, but you know what they say, back to work !
You are a real, ole school craftsman, brother. In another time, you'd have been blacksmith to the bloody King. Truly inspiring. I also love that you consider your community in your actions even though it sometimes means more work for you.
Tonight, I moved the old '81 shafty up to the front of the garage and ready on the lift. I don't know what time I'll be able to give it, but I'll do what I can. My second dad (long story), a long time Suzuki mechanic passed recently. He put a low gear in a Suzuki 50 and got me riding at the ripe old age of 5. Because of him, I learned to ride a motorcycle many years before I learned to ride a bicycle. After watching you tonight, I figured out the best way I could honor him would be to not only get the old shaft drive running but give it new life with some new styling. Wish me luck...and thanks again.
Hi there Ken, so good to hear from you - and what a brilliant tribute to your Dad... I wish you every luck and success with it buddy... however you turn it out, whether it's just a user, or full on show bike, the important part is that you enjoy doing it aye? Keep in touch, I'd love to follow the build, all the best, Del
Nice one Del, great to see another tank getting used. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this one. Cheers mate, Chat soon, Al.
Quick thought about the cooling air over the pipes, it may be a good idea to have louvres sticking out into the air stream flowing over the belly pan. Just to be sure they create a low pressure area for the hot air to flow out through.
Bike is looking great! Keep it up, can wait to see what's next. Loved Damage phase 3, I'm sure you've got something creative up your sleeve and if not you'll come up with something!
That's pretty much the strength of it mate, if you don't have a plan, make one ! Appreciate your kind support ... cheers!
Nothing like having more inspiring options, and it's always fun watching you carve shit up. Digging the Sickstring Outlaws, just grabbed three albums tonight. Err Marek, I hate to break this to you, dude ...
... yeah, hey Marek, how do ya fancy some cool ventilation in your tank and a rat rod patina !
From all The Sickstring Outlaws... thanks for the kind words! Be sure and check out the website for schedules, pix, and videos... www.sickstringoutlaws.com
With all them Tanks Del you'll have to call the bike "Sherman".
love a bit of sickstrings them guys are great.
Too right, they rock ! And the coolest tank in the world will always be a Churchill , won't it?!
Moonfleet41
Ah Yes.
Other Insurance companies are available.
From all The Sickstring Outlaws... thanks for the kind words, Paul! Be sure and check out the website for schedules, pix, and videos... www.sickstringoutlaws.com
Great video Del. You are on fire. Cracking wrap up at the end as well. Very professional. It is no surprise to us "subs" how many views you get.
Lee, you do me too kind sir, its a lot more fun now we have a better garage and this cool project under way..
Like the new music but a bit of Transitions is good to hear again 🎸 . Enjoying the build as always 😊
Thank you Jenny, we never planned to change our music permanently, we introduce a new band, or artist, who sends us their music and then, after that, we mix them in with all the favourites from the past, still trying to find the right moment to use 'Utopia' again, my favourite track by Feast of Friends!
All good. Got into The Transitions through this channel, loads of greater tracks on their website to listen to for free 😀 Appreciate the new stuff as well not to mention your dedication to filming all you do which must slow you down but we all love it,12k+ viewers can't be wrong.
Thanks Jenny, you're very kind - it does take lot longer filming, but it has great benefits cos you never cut corners when you are being watched do you lol !
Del you are an absolute legend and inspiration, makes me wanna start a project myself. Keep up the great work and help/advice.
Thank Bri, much appreciated - get yourself a project, it's a great release from the day to day stresses! Thank you for your kind support my friend...
I hope I never need a zx7r tank there's gonna be none left lol.
project is coming along real well tank on the bike looks amazing
Ha ha... i think you may be right..lol
more tanks than the Russian army..
its not a street fighter its a street tank build.
That bike is going to end up as a motorized fuel tank if you continue like that! ;) Looking forward for the tail section build.
It's certainly gonna cost a bit to fill it up aye lol !
Love your garage Del. I hope one day I'll be able to have one just like it. I'm really intrigued as to what you have up your sleeve for the seat unit.
Hi Richard, it took me 30yrs to get here my friend, I've worked in the street in the rain, keeping my bikes under polythene in the garden, and not many years ago either, so I am as grateful for this environment as anyone would be ... !
If you leave a small gap between the rad and the front extension this will cause low pressure behind that should draw air in to the shielded part. Flaring the edge slightly could assist this and would certainly hide that grinning gap. I wouldn't think it would make too much of a difference to the running temperature as I doubt that you will be doing track days etc anyway. If it did then just bang a fan in there. Have you seen the bad obsession motorsport loons and project binky? They made there own slot punch for the scuttle panel. That could look quite retro on the old belly. Cheers Del. 👍🏻
Hi buddy... ill have no cooling issues thats for sure, it has a fan, obviously, a standard, and the Evans Waterless Coolant helps too... also its right behind the tyre, so no air flow there anyway..! Yes i do watch the Mini build, great project, but i kinda get a bit irritated by the constant wise cracks and attempts to be dry and funny... it's just not required and doesn't bring anything to the show... seems a bit slow too, not seen a video on it for months and its been running for about two years so far ..lol
They are taking their time with it but I suppose they are tackling a big old build. Anyway bikes are betterer! Cheers chief.
Tank you for that ...sorry had to go with the flow..haha
I like the idea of incorporating 'gills' into the side of that belly pan for air flow, flared arches that are not 'holes'...
Not sure on the idea of cutting a hole in the front of it, you'll still allow all the road crap through it. Thinking along what you said as a Xeonmorph, I love that. Keep it Alien like, living creature. They don't have holes...
Other than this it's an outstanding job !
Thanks buddy.. im just allowing this to evolve and get better as it goes along... if i take a direction or choose a cut of weld, it will be because it was the best choice at the time... cant do more than that right..!
Indeed ! I'm loving that Alien theme though and to be it's evolving in that direction...
Can't wait to see what colour your going with
HaHaHa, I died laughing at the very end!!! Just imagine eh! :-)
I'm just amazed at how you found the time or energy to do this after the monster weekend!
The work you put in, and the imaginative skills you have, and your presentations skills deserve you to get 10 times the subscribers and views you do now!
Why thank you most kindly my friend... I think subscribers are just a matter of time, we just rolled over 55k, which is amazing when I consider how it all started !
lol, its not a "silly old project"...........its compulsive viewing......keep going mate, loving every step. regards
Thanks Bazza , it's support like yours that makes it all worthwhile !
I love how your channel is growing! I'm happy for you! How are you feeling about it? Ride safe
As you can imagine, my friend, we are absolutely stoked about the sudden growth in the last 6 months... and, sometimes, with the massive work load we now have, we sometimes forget to come up for air and realise how well it's doing ! Thank you for your support ...
Hey Del. Thought we'd repay you for all the support for the Sickstring Outlaws you've shown! www.sickstringoutlaws.com/videos
Oh wow, at last I'm famous - how awesome to be pictured on the same page as the Outlaws! THANK YOU so much for that kind gesture, I think you guys are awesome and we listen to every track you've done ...
Hi Del, loving the build so far :) that other tank is a good idea. you commented on the bandit tank but as you often say you like to set the trends not follow them so i'm guessing you don't want anything the same(ish) , i was looking at the tank and i saw dragon scales or medieval knight shoulder armour mounted as a second lair in the same manor as the bandit tank, slightly overlapping maybe ? plenty of air flow on that and you would not see any holes cut on the inner pan and it would all follow the sames curves and lines, whatever you choose i'm looking forward to seeing the end result.
Thanks buddy, those are some really cool ideas, the men who fabricated suits of armour were the finest craftsmen in the world, skills that today, are long forgotten ! I have a cunning plan to try and make some big open vents look completely invisible and anything decorative that I carry out on the belly pan, would have to be mirrored in the other panels - thank you for your support, I'll get there !
Some real grafting goin on there fella
Well done !
Thanks Andy, much appreciate, already at 167hrs or so... phew lol!
HELLOVA COOL SHIRT! Where can I get one? lol... Thanks again Del!
No worries brother, just say the word, I can hook you up, as I know a couple of guys in the band... how cool am I lol??!
Amazing how much you get done in that shed
Thanks for another great video, many congratulations on hitting 55,000 subscribers!
Thanks Jonathan, I remember hitting our first 1,000, can't believe so many people wanna wacth what we do !
(P) Tanks for sharing this vid with us all - sorry couldn't resist! Although I'm sure Marek would disapprove 😡
love the ending del that was funny. great video and allot of work ahead can't wait.
Thanks Brian, just kickin a bit of humour in aye..!
Great ending mate! Loved that. Awesome build loving each video. (Hi Penny!!)
Glad you enjoyed, even I thought the ending was funny - perhaps Marek didn't lol ... thanks for watching ! Pennyx
Delboy 55,000+ that's fantastic keep up the good work.
Thanks buddy, that's really kind, we are blown away ourselves by the subscribers and Patrons - we appreciate it all !
Love the idea of using brass!
you've got the disks in! nice. I was starting to think that the dutch postal service screwed up agian. nice going mate and have a good one!
Hi Mark, so sorry not to have mailed you and said they arrived safe.. it was onlt the day before... we had a f=huge bike event to organise over the last weekend, and still clearing up the fallout now... Thank you again so much for your kind gift my friend, its very helpful indeed as you can see... all the best.. Del.
don't worry about it. no hard feelings or any thing. just nice to see you use them. all the best with the event and keep those great video's coming.
Looking good brother.....great ideas you have....love the tunes...take care
Hi Ron, good to hear from you again... hope life is treating you well post !
doing good brother...thanks
I had a leak in my tank on my 750, and the tech I was working with told me to drain the fuel so he could get me to weld it. I said we would blow the tank up! He said watch and learn. He took the exhaust vent hose we used on the cars to vent the exhaust outside, and got me to hold it over the fuel filler hole while it was on the exhaust of a running car. I held it there for a while, and then he welded it. He said you replace the fumes in the tank with the carbon monoxide and it will not blow. Obviously it didn't cause an explosion so I guess it works lol! Crazy old guys and things they do lol
Now that man sounds like a master thinker... it is a common trait to use inert, oxygen free gases to prevent fire, it's precisely what's done by a C02 fire extinguisher... fire needs oxygen in order to burn... so a massive blast of C02 gas across a fire just starves it to death instantly... if I am welding a fuel tank, I generally use my argon tank from the TIG welder and stick the tube inside with the bottle open and run the gas till it's pumping out the hole... result - no oxygen! But never heard of using exhaust gases, I can see how it works and it's pure genius , would love to have bought that man a brew !
He always had 2large tea, bags in and lrg milk on the side. He liked to mix his own tea lol. He was a true mechanic, he repaired stuff he wasn't just a parts replacer like so many out there today! Thats why I like your channel you don't just replace stuff you fix it in innovative ways. Like most of us you do it out of necessity, or in other words we fix it cause we are broke lol! Love your channel thanks
Love the series, keep up the good work 👍🏼
OOOPPSS! Sorry Marik! Tanky McTanker is looking really good and I'm looking forward to seeing some/all of those mod options on the belly pan.
Thanks buddy, glad you're enjoying it !
"Dead mice and rats and all kinds of shit?" Whahaha, I can't even breath from laughing so hard X"D
I love how you can say "Right - I've been in here 5 hours, I'm going to call it a day".
I usually get lost in space & time as soon as I start working on bikes and as soon as I realise it, it's half past 11 at night and my tea's cold and the missus is screaming at me for it.
Oops!
Yeah me too mate... but i have a 5 hour editing and uploading time to fit in too... so if i didnt do it this way.. this video wouldnt be up yet..lol
You should get yourself a rubber finger grinder wheel. They are great for stripping away debris without doing damage.
Haha that ending was awesome! had me giggling lol
Thanks buddy, just a bit of fun..! good to hear from you, hope you are well..
Autumn arrived and left pretty dam quick lol
it has to be named the tank
Nah, it has to be more imaginative than that..!
Now, i like that...lol!
like the skull on the tank...cool
Gone now.. !
Havnt seen the final product, But, i hope you stay with the original tail fairings because i think they already go with the alien design
you could put the vents on the bottom where they cant be seen. It would be a shame to mess with the shape.
An thinking so too, but even sexy looking cars have a grill!
How about a scoop coming in from the hole where the old fuel filler was or is it too far back?
It's too low under the bike buddy... danger of catching on potholes, or kerbs, and tearing the belly pan off... if anything I may weld the hole up, trust me, I have a plan lol !
oops! how did that paintjob look again ..shit wheres that box of felt tips ??? he'll never notice under the yacht varnish....
the best ending ever....now you know who turns off at the end credits before its done ( wtf are they talking about?)....
you am de man ..xxcc
Said it right brother, it always pays to leave a little funny at the end... if you watch a Jackie Chan film and you don't watch the credits at the end, you will miss most of the fun! You'd the lyrical gangsta !
haha Meric at the end clear coat love it to funny
Thanks Tex - just having a little fun !
God please no more Sickstrings music...
Other than that I'm absolutely loving this build series. I'm learning quite a bit. Keep it up!
Ha ha, not your taste?.. ok, i try to keep it changing and prevent it getting samey.. thanks for your support..
looks like tanks are growing on trees :D
They are growing somewhere buddy, better cut 'em up and use them quick lol !
Brilliant outro, had me in stitches :)
At least you watched til the end lol ! It was a little treasure for the die hards...
great vid del! just a thought. what if you cut loovers in the sides of the new tank in certain areas and cut sections off to use as removable inspection panels that also act as ventelation for the exhaust?
Hi Eric, what an ocean of ideas... all good thoughts my friend, cutting louvres actually requires a machine, and a press, and they are almost impossible to cut on a curve, but I have a cunning plan, which I hope will work.....
Like the sound of that good luck with it!
cool as - mate reminds me of an alien called a "Vorlon"
yep I'm a sad basset. hahah
Thanks buddy, I think it's look is evolving as it rolls along,,, and we are enjoying every bit !
I knew it a tank lol, great progress so far del, also music is ace even bought the sickstring outlaws tune - electric moonshine tribute song from iTunes , have u googled "Popcorn Sutton" just wish society could leave people alone sometimes .
Yeah, the US Judicial system seems so out of touch sometimes, like it stands apart from real people..what harm did he ever do... but ours is no better thats for sure....
Google "Struggle Jennings" get the whole story, it may take you a while to get the whole picture.. but its not much different.. but this time its a success story that shoves it up the system..! start here.. ruclips.net/video/I16PYaafHA4/видео.html
LOL!!! the letter scrull all the job!!! Dear Del, what happend whit #32??? I can´t find it!
If you are subscribed to the channel, they are all in the playlist one after the other - you must be relying on Google suggestion to give you the next video and they don't always follow numerically !
Hi, do you think the covering could of been plasi dip then hydrographic applied over the top?
After the hydrographic, a clear lacquer is applied to protect it.
Not really sure buddy, I've used plastidip and it certainly wasn't that, it was more thicker , like a vinyl plastic, but was printed and not painted, that's for sure !
0:42 I can't wait for the simple skills video on 'how to hold a hammer' or were you just having a bad hammer day? ;-)
I del it look better and better mate you got great ideas VITOR
Thanks Vitor!
You need to build yourself a dust extractor + air filter!
Yeah, i damn do... even a proper shop vac would help..
Hey Delboy when you going to do another FRO love the project so far can not wait for the next bit Glenn from OZ land
Hi Glen.. when i can think of something to moan about... (hang on, i have plenty).. ok, when i have the time to get out and play... .!
Vinyl wrap! Maybe
Possibly, it came of pretty easy !
Clear lacquer, haha.
I think that is vinyl wrap
The tank man he he he, or are you gonna be known as Del Boy the stripper 😆😆😆, laughs aside, another great video buddy, love the end of it, regards Stu 👍👍🔧🔧🏍🏍
I think my career as a stripper would be a short one lol !
Now you will know who looks at "The Wall of Friends". I have a question off topic. Do you have a partnumber of your Snap-on ratchet screwdriver? I have been looking for that typ of tool, but al de ratchet screwdrivers i stumble upon are short. Hopefully you can help me out. Keep up the good work, and I agree with a Tank type kinda name.
Hi buddy... sorry, i dont have my Snap-On account any more, tossed all the paperwork out years ago.. and i bought that screw driver over 25 years ago....so its probably a new part number now anyway... i imagine all you need to do is ask any Snap-On rep and they will get you one..! Good to hear from you again.. take care.. Del.
Oooo i think it :D
loving the work but plz no more tanks as it will have to be name as the tank monster keep it up tho great work
"Thomas"..!
Are you also cack handed lad lol
haha they say were more creative... and good old jimi hendrix and bob dylan were so we got some good ones on the team
'Chobham' ?
Aye???!
+Moonfleet41 it's the armour put on tanks for battle. Explosive panels to deflect hits from emery fire !!
Doh, of course, maybe a bit heavy for wheelies..
+Moonfleet41 yeah that's true lookin cool and nice idea with other tank , it's mad how old ideas and stuff you've done before develops, 3D thinking . It's that left hand drinkers club we in that's behind it all. 😂
Too right buddy.... Left hand drinkers have a hand free for a second pint... Result.! Hows the recovery coming fellah?.
