The more interessting recit is the one by Merra Reed about the *great tournment of Harrenhall* This tournement is so special in GOT lore... So much history on this short period. Rhaegar Targaryan know his father was mad and evil. So he wanted to organize a big tournament bringing together the greatest lords of Westeros. But the secret objective of this tournament was actually to gather in the same place a number of great lords... In order to discuss the overthrow of Aerys! Aware of his father's folly, Rhaegar planned to rely on the lords most hostile to Aerys II *in order to plan his father's forcible removal* and his own coronation to become king Rhaegar. Rhaegar did not want to do so out of ambition, but for the good of the kingdom, which Aerys was leading to its downfall. The tournament was only the "*front*" for the conspirators to organize. But King Aerys II suspected that something was going on... And decided to come to the tournament in person (even though he hadn't left the Red Keep for years, traumatized by his kidnapping about ten years ago). During this tournament, the father of Meera Reed (Howland Reed, who is ALSO the one who saved Ned Stark from the fight against Arthur Dayne at the tower of joy by kicking the latter in the back), was attacked by 3 squires. Lyanna Stark has intervened to save him. *The pretty woman with purple eyes is none other than Lady Ashara Dayne* the sister of Arthur Dayne (The knight of the king gard who almost beat Ned). Barristan Selmy had a soft spot for her, though he was too faithful to her vows to deny them. However, he wanted to win the tournament to crown Lady Ashara "*queen of love and beauty*". Another man fell in love with Ashara Dayne this night : *Ned Stark* himself! Later, during this tournament, Rhaegar sang a song so sad that made Lyanna cry. The next day, a mysterious masked knight with a painted shield (who will be dubbed *the Knight of the Laughing Tree* because of this painting) bit the 3 knights whose squires harassed Howland Reed. Triumphant, he demanded only one thing from the knights: that they learn honor from their squires.. *This mysterious knight was.... Lyanna Stark herself!!!* But Aerys, totally paranoid, had considered that this knight was probably a traitor, and ordered his son, Rhaegar, to find this anonymous knight. But the knight of the laughing three has disappeared, leaving only his shield... It is more than likely that Rhaegar has discovered the identity of this mysterious knight, Lyanna... And that he fell in love with her at that moment... Because... The next day, Rhaegar will cause a massive scandal, after winning the tournament against Barristan Selmy, by crowning queen of love and beauty... Lyanna Stark instead of his wife, Ellia Martell! An Element precursor to the future "revolt of Robert" Ser Barristan Selmy blamed himself all his life for not having "won" the tournament, because it could have changed all the story, according to him... It is also at this tournament that the Mad King namedJaime Lannister to the royal guard (but prevented him from participating in the tournament, because his secret objective was to "deprive of his heir, Tywin", Aerys being jealous of his hand) . Following this act, Tywin, furious, will resign from his post. Also this tournament is a pivotal period. All the events that will lead to the fall of House Targaryen have taken place here.
It was the newly-installed Spymaster Varys who alerted King Aerys to Rhaegar's planned coup at Harrenhal. I guess that must have been before he was motivated to act "for the realm".
The one thing you are wrong about here (presumably) is Ned falling for Ashara Dayne. Howl and shared Ned’s tent and based on everything else it’s more likely it was Howland who aired her bastard than Nes
After Lyanna eloped with Raegar, the army coming to depose the mad king met Little Finger en rout, What did he tell them? Was it Little Finger who started the rumor that Raegar had kidnapped Lyanna? Robert was so angry and scorned that his fiance had run off with another man, he would be easy to convince that she had been kidnapped?
Yes 🙌. He told Brandon- Cats bethroded. He knew he was hot headed and do something stupid which he did and went straight to KL and got arrested and killed by the mad king.
Lady Ashara Dayne was one of the most beautiful women of her time. She was Ser Arthur Dayne's sister and there are pieces of evidence in the book that suggest she gave birth to either Brandon or Ned's child who died in her infancy. I personally think it was Ned. She was a lady in waiting to Elia Martell who committed suicide shortly after the rebellion - after a visit from Ned who had married Catelyn by this point. Catelyn always thought Jon's mother was Ashara Dayne and she once even asked Ned who grew angry at Catelyn and forbid her from ever talking about Ashara again (one of the only times Catelyn ever saw Ned truly angry).
*The knight of the laughing tree is... Lyanna Stark !* And King Aerys send his son for discovering who is it anonymous knight. It is surely how Rhaegar met Lyanna for the first time ! Because he crowned her queen of love and beauty after winning the tournament... In place of his wife, Ellia Martell
Thank you for keeping all the takes in. I laughed so hard. The joke went over my head because I enjoy the Histories and Lore but Pudgey breaking was hilarious.
Ned disnt have to be worthy of Ice, like most houses which have a Valeryian blade it goes to the firstborn Son. Dawn is different as they said and it goes to the worthy Dane family swordsman .
The Thre Eyed Raven was played by legendary Swedish actor Max von Sydow. You've probably seen him in tons of things, for instance in the classic scene of playing chess against Death in the Seventh Seal, or as Emperor Ming in Flash Gordon. He was also more recently in the Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens. Sadly he passed away some years ago.
The interesting part about these history and lore videos, is that while they are part of the blurays and were released later, naturally most people watch them after each season, but they are in fact meant to be seen in the beginning of each season. They kinda pave the way of what's to happen in the current season. If you notice, lots of things that are mentioned in this video, in fact foreshadow things that "will" happen in season 6 which we have already seen, so it does feel kinda weird. For example Sansa wanting to unite the North and retake Winterfell, which she already has accomplished at the battle of the bastards. Weird ordering for sure. On the other hand some might argue that this might be "spoilerish" to watch early. Which I can partly understand, even though it doesn't really tell what will happen, more like what the characters "want" to do in the future.
That intro was, despite everything, one of the best laughs I’ve had for a while. Pudgey is a crack-up when cracking-up….. Not sure why people dislike your history & lore videos? I really enjoy them
Ice goes to whoever inherits winterfell (eldest male) dawn is a different sword from a different house and their inheritance is different ( the best warrior of house dayne)
There is no such thing as honor is a fight to the death. Win by any means possible. In the Marines they taught us that integrity and honor are subjective. One person's honor is another man's evil. Like Cersei said it best, power is power
I’m sooo late but something also amazing about Sansa’s portion of this video is she releases the bird from the cage- which shows how Sansa is finally released from her cage as a prisoner of the lannisters and then Boltons she’s finally free to embrace who she is as a stark and what she wants, which is the north’s independence and her family together and safe
Whether the joke landed for Pudgey at the beginning or not, I did laugh at loud the second time she did it. She was trolling Spartan the second time she did it 😂
Not gonna lie, Pudgey's crack-up and Spartan's reaction had me laughing my ass off for the first five minutes of the video! This alone made it worthwhile! Lots of great background lore in this one too. We get a lot more about Dorne in the books, and it's nice to see some of that brought up in these deep dives.
I wish I could find myself as funny as Pudgey thinks she is, LOL. I LOVE the Histories and Lore so I'm not disappointed AT ALL. I'm one of the few people that apparently didn't have a problem with the ending of the show because I saw it coming. Not sure how others didn't but I hope you enjoy. You guys are pretty perceptive so hopefully you'll like it as well. Ice was melted down by Tywin to make Oathkeeper, which Brienne has and Widow's Wail, which was Joffrey's but is now held by Jaime. Ned didn't Stan Arthur Dane in the back. Meera and Jojan's father did and then Ned finished him.ns 4,6 & 7 are actually my favorite voices! If the last 2 seasons had 10 episodes like the others it would've been perfect, but they rushed too much and left some things unanswered.
No one knows who The Knight of the Laughing Tree is but many suspect it's Lyanna. As for Varys, for some reason he didn't mention that he removes the tongues of his "little birds." I'm stillnot sure why he does this if they can write but it's pretty sick.
37:07 oh come on let’s not pretend that jaime couldn’t have said „No“. Cersei gave him a choice. Jaime said „Yes“ to the KG. And he knew the consequences. 37:40 yes, because she was taken to Casterly Rock by her father. Probably with force too. Of course she wasn‘t at Harrenhal.
right like i dislike how they act like jaime is a child incapable of saying no to cersei or THINKING for himself, he literally states that he was willing to give up EVERYTHING for her, yes she uses his devotion to her for her own benefit but nobody could make jaime do something he didn't want to do in the first place
Holy hell, that had me in tears. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Was there a joke? It was hilarious that you couldn't get two words out without cracking up, and Spartan's face was priceless the whole time.
The regarding who built old town is something that was never included in the show so this is not a spoiler... but in the books there is like a lovecraftian fishman race that probably lived thousands of years ago and build these old structures like the base of oldtown and also dragonstone. It's pretty cool and eerie. There are also some ironborn clans that probably descent from this race and because of this they have "webbed" hands
Dragonstone is confirmed to be made by the Valyrians. Its stone is much different to the base of The Hightower or the Seastone Chair which are described as "oily".
1:14:00 Riverrun could technically withstand a seige indefinitely, they have unlimited fresh water and can fish all the food they'll ever need. I just realized that now lol
if ever we make one day an GOT episode about the tournment of Harrenhall... It have the potential to became the most better episode of GOT ever made ! There is so much happened on the tournment... A pivot of history in many way.
@17:32 sorry Spartan, we'll agree that ur wrong again. ned's totality of stuff over his life, and ur trying to take that away because of one fight? what about the entire war my dude? and how he treats people outside of fights. he was more than worthy.

It's always interesting to me that, even though House Hightower is richer and more powerful, they choose to serve House Tyrell, by far my favorite house from the Reach
@@robertfishburn8545 probably, but House Hightower is more of a peacful people and they have been loyal to House Targaryen for centuries, i think they are just content with their trading business
the knight of the laughing tree story was told incorrectly... robert was not ordered to face the knight. Rhaegar was ordered to find the knight to bring them to the king... unfortunately, he never found the knight, but he did give the crown of the tourney to a young she-wolf.
Aerys ordered _everyone_ to unmasked the mystery knight, whom he believed to be Jaime. Robert was one of the most prominent lords determined to do so but he failed. When Rhaegar went searching, all he could find was the shield.
That intro 😂. I'm surprised you guys didn't guess that Lyanna Stark was the mystery knight at the tournament. She had saved Howland Reed and then shamed the three that had attacked Howland. Howland Reed was actually the one who killed Ser Arthur Dayne by stabbing him in the back not Ned, he did it to save Ned's life
Regarding the fight was sir Arthur Dayne, Ned didn’t stab him in the back, he finished him. Howland Reed stabbed Dayne in the back, Ned just finished him off, it was fatal stab so he put him down out of mercy. I always took the young Ned’s expression as one of disapproval of what Reed did, but the deed was done.
Interesting how they tried to shoehorn in a version of Septon Meribald’s broken man speech from the books. Big mistake not including that part of Brienne’s story.

Could have a fun episode called 'Funny moments while reacting' and compilation is just Pudgey laughing in various scenarios.
Since it still isn’t clicking for you two I will only say this about Rhaegar, history is written by the winners. And don’t forget Meera’s section “Rhaegar sang a song so sad it brought tears to Lyanna’s eyes” the evidence is staring you right in the face
They refuse to think about it lol
Facts! It’s a little excruciating 😂🤦🏾♀️
Rhaegar story is still a shitty one. The last dragon is beneathbour regard, but has earned our disgust

Great reaction as always! Pudgey's laugh needs it's own series 😂 I am so happy you are sticking to these History and Lore videos. There are only 2 more, I hope you do both of them.
After a long shit day at work, coming home to a Spartan & Pudgey reaction is priceless. Add Pudgey uncontrollably laughing & Spartans extreme patience just in the intro & I know this Histories & Lore will be another fun experience. Btw I loved the joke Pudgey 😁
Poor Spartan. Dude! As funny as those fails were, I feel your pain 😂😂 …what a great duo!
The stark sword ice doesn't transfer by the rule of worthiness
It is inherited from father to son

The more interessting recit is the one by Merra Reed about the *great tournment of Harrenhall*
This tournement is so special in GOT lore...
Lyanna Stark herself!!!*
But Aerys, totally paranoid, had considered that this knight was probably a traitor, and ordered his son, Rhaegar, to find this anonymous knight.
An Element precursor to the future "revolt of Robert"
Ser Barristan Selmy blamed himself all his life for not having "won" the tournament, because it could have changed all the story, according to him...
The Dothraki mean “mount” as in… sex. The Stallion who will 🤬the world. Is a more accurate interpretation of what they mean.
I've never thought about that...makes sense
I can say with absolute confidence that pudgey laughing was 1000x funnier than her joke. Sorry pudgey. It's just contagious.
It’s also said that she fake her death and marry Howland Reed
Pudgey laughing over and over was 100x as funny as her 'joke', but still worth it. Such a contagious laugh.
Ice was ned starks sword, we saw tywin melt it down into 2 swords and give them to joffrey and Jaime then Jaime gave his to Brienne
*The knight of the laughing tree is... Lyanna Stark !*
And King Aerys send his son for discovering who is it anonymous knight.
It's always entertaining when Pudgey has the giggles.
I always love her laugh. 😂😂😂😂
Before the lore even starts, this is your best video all thanks to Pudgey. My day was made so much better
Jorah simps for the dothraki almost as much as he does dany 😂😂 always dothraki this and dothraki that lol
That intro was priceless. High vibration
Glad Spartan understands Lord Tarly's perspective.
She's laughing like she smoked the biggest blunt 😂
you have no idea how much I needed that laugh 💜 pudgey you’re an absolute gem
You can tell by his accent that young Ned is from East Yorkshire whereas Sean Bean is from South Yorkshire.
the introduction is what makes me come back... but this time... it was marvelous.
That was the funniest joke ever.
wait until they realize this is not season 7 episode 1
What was lol
@@Marsh_125 the intro
That intro was, despite everything, one of the best laughs I’ve had for a while. Pudgey is a crack-up when cracking-up…..
Not sure why people dislike your history & lore videos? I really enjoy them
Ice goes to whoever inherits winterfell (eldest male) dawn is a different sword from a different house and their inheritance is different ( the best warrior of house dayne)
There is no such thing as honor is a fight to the death. Win by any means possible. In the Marines they taught us that integrity and honor are subjective. One person's honor is another man's evil. Like Cersei said it best, power is power
*in a fight
I’m sooo late but something also amazing about Sansa’s portion of this video is she releases the bird from the cage- which shows how Sansa is finally released from her cage as a prisoner of the lannisters and then Boltons she’s finally free to embrace who she is as a stark and what she wants, which is the north’s independence and her family together and safe
OMG Pudgey your laugh is so infectious that whenever I think of you guys or even hear your names I start laughing. 😂😂
Whether the joke landed for Pudgey at the beginning or not, I did laugh at loud the second time she did it. She was trolling Spartan the second time she did it 😂
I'm like Pudgey, once I get laughing then I can't stop. Especially when I'm trying to be serious.
Pudgey laughing has me rolling 😂
You guys really made my day with that intro. Lots of love to you guys❤😊☺
So much joy and pain in the final delivery of that joke. 😂😂
These history and lore videos are very important for the shows to come...
No one knows who The Knight of the Laughing Tree is but many suspect it's Lyanna. As for Varys, for some reason he didn't mention that he removes the tongues of his "little birds." I'm stillnot sure why he does this if they can write but it's pretty sick.
I suppose Varys does that foe the little birds to not speak if someone torture them😢
Alright her laugh is contagious
All they are saying is clearly Cersei brings out the worst in Jamie, he is a much better person without her.
As annoying as it probably was for Spartan, That intro was pure gold. I love they’re dynamic 😂❤️🔥
you're killing me at 11:51 (a stallion is a male horse...the way pudgey says it)--keep up the great work you two!!!
Spartan has the patience of a Saint 😂
Thanks for uploading this! Been waiting for it!
What a fantastic intro, loved it
Show Euron is simply a dork. Book Euron is an interesting character
Book Euron is like the main villain with a magic horn that is said to bind dragons and he believes he’s a god, show Euron talks about fingers in bums
1:14:00 Riverrun could technically withstand a seige indefinitely, they have unlimited fresh water and can fish all the food they'll ever need. I just realized that now lol
46:55 When people ask you what happened here, tell them the North remembers. Tell them winter came for House Spartan.
THIS MOMENT 4:00, LOVE YOU GUYS!! Bad joke, great performance, lot of laughs!!
Someone lost their marbles 🤣
What was that intro!? My God Pudgey... 🤣
if ever we make one day an GOT episode about the tournment of Harrenhall...
The entire intro killed me😂😂😂
I don’t know what is funnier… pudgey’s hysterical laughter or Spartan’s annoyance… either way I laughed until I cried 😂
Its soooo sad they forgot Robb starks voice!!! they forgot how their boy sounds they couldnt recognise him
You should watch the video about the Knight of the Laughing Tree from Alt-Shift X the next time you do a lore video. It has a really good theory behind it.
my stomach hurts... I was chuckling harder and harder with each take. Pudgey, you are hilarious. Never change. I hardly understood the joke :) but your personality is incredible. Spartan, you are a lucky guy. This was gold.
I watched the 4 first minutes again... Pudgey is the most adorable and funny reactor. Spartan was annoyed what made it even funnier. Pudgey's laughter without making sounds is the best.
I love the giggle fits that Pudgey gets, it makes me smile.
Lol at the intro. Everyone needs to know a Pudgey just for laughs and comedy.
Max von Sydow is a classic veteran actor
Pudgey you are HILARIOUS! And your laugh is so freaking contagious 😅
Best intro ever!!! Lol 😂😂😂 We love you Pudgey!
"And today.."
"I knew youd fuck it up"😂😂
lmao, I was crying laughing at the introduction
It's always interesting to me that, even though House Hightower is richer and more powerful, they choose to serve House Tyrell, by far my favorite house from the Reach
The events of the Dance of Dragons made them weary of ever playing the game of thrones again, I imagine.
Yes, it was worth it! Every second and every laugh! Love it. I'm laughing as h*... as well. Thank you, Pudgey, for that.
That was Meera and Jojen's father, Howland Reed that stabbed ser Arthur Dayne in the back.
It was the, sikeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, that had me rolling!
That intro 😂. I'm surprised you guys didn't guess that Lyanna Stark was the mystery knight at the tournament. She had saved Howland Reed and then shamed the three that had attacked Howland. Howland Reed was actually the one who killed Ser Arthur Dayne by stabbing him in the back not Ned, he did it to save Ned's life
And keep Ned’s secret that Jon wasn’t Ned’s bastard
Regarding the fight was sir Arthur Dayne, Ned didn’t stab him in the back, he finished him. Howland Reed stabbed Dayne in the back, Ned just finished him off, it was fatal stab so he put him down out of mercy. I always took the young Ned’s expression as one of disapproval of what Reed did, but the deed was done.
Lol @ Pudgey having the giggles. It happens.......Isnt the name of the video on the thumbnail? Funny
That intro explains the delay.
Interesting how they tried to shoehorn in a version of Septon Meribald’s broken man speech from the books. Big mistake not including that part of Brienne’s story.
Okay but why did I bust out laughing when she said SIKE 😂😂🤣
I love Pudgy more than life itself 😂
Pudgey, do you have a giggle goblin in your pants, or smth? :D Such an infecuous laughter! hahahaha
Ice is the Stark ancestral sword. Ned doesnt carry Ice around in combat. Its just too big
