One of the reasons that the Native Americans, in particular, the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) were so connected to their war clubs, weapons etc. is what's known as Orenda, or in the case of my people (Mohawk), Orenna. Simply put, an extraordinary invisible power believed by the Haudenosaunee to pervade in varying degrees in all animate and inanimate natural objects as a transmissible spiritual energy capable of being exerted according to the will of its possessor.
