This is a first in the budget media player market place - and signals to end Jetstream 4K users that the manufacturer may actually care about user support for this device. Keep it up.
You cannot say that about Xiaomi, or any cheap Chinese device seller for that matter.

Thanks for the video Ronnie. I just bought one of these as a gift for my father's 90th birthday. Set-up was quick and easy but NO casting from his Amazon Fire HD 10 2017. (Fire OS is only Android 5.1 I think...) No problem casting from my Galaxy Tab 2 or Galaxy S7 though. It"s a good little box. Better than my Mi Box in terms of responsiveness and so far it hasn't locked up like the Mi Box does on a daily basis. Gotta try adoptive memory but so far the old man likes it. Will probably buy one for myself. Thanks again Ronnie for the comprehensive review! Keep up the great work sir!!!

I love my Jetstream Box! It hooked up very easily to my 2006 Vizeo TV that I set up in my basement after I bought a new Hisense Android Tv! You get a ton of apps with the jet stream, is very fast and also has a few great internet browsers.
It depends what you want to use the box for. I ordered a game pad for my box and I have heard great reviews regarding the game pad and the jet stream box.
Nice review, I think yours is the first review of this. I like mine, and actually got a second one to replace both Mibox 3 units I have.
I have my Jetstream hooked up via ethernet and so far it works great.
What about the new Xiaomi Mibox that will be coming out in a few days?? Also, how did you get your box so soon? I know people were getting their boxes several days before Walmart in my area got theirs..

I won't be getting the mibox s as it lacks the ethernet and sdcard slot.

Finally a full review done properly! I hope you will review the new Mi Box S that also just came out at Walmart. Now the question is...will it get security updates so it doesn't get hacked, only time will tell. The original Mi Box gets updates (not very often), but it DOES get updates on a rare basis :)

This box is really made by SDMC Technology; and only licensed, marketed, and sold by eMatic for US markets. With eMatic getting a Walmart distribution contract for the device it should do well.

@@clarkss12 Ronnie, I love my Jetstream as I hooked it up to my 2006 Vizeo TV and It is fast and has so many apps and is fast when I search the web! I bought a Android TV keyboard and a game pad and both are awesome with the Jet stream box!
Prime works fine. I like it a lot better than the Mibox 3 and the fact it has a sdcard slot and a ethernet port.
How did you side load the Prime app?? What is the max video resolution does it play??

Yes. I can lend it to you for review if you want. I trust you. Should be here in 4 weeks or so. They are probably the same box. My friend brought his Mecool BB2 Pro here for a reflash this week. After I flashed it, I gotta admit the damn thing is fast . S912 with 3Gb of DDR4. Cyberflix was fast .

Thanks for sharing! The 'channels' live tv app stopped working on my original mibox from Walmart and would just hang with a dreaded 'weak channel' prompt. Was hoping that the new jetstream android tv box will work for me (HDHomerun Prime). I use Plex too...I guess emby is 'plex' like?? I'm picking my jetstream tomorrow after watching your video. I agree, the $10 difference for the extra usb, memory card slot, and ethernet port are a plus. Is the ethernet 1000, or 100/10?

You mean the batteries were not the justification for the extra $10 ??? :) Btw, the box says it plays audio in HD, do you have an AVR to test it??? I only get DD and DTS, not HD audio, kinda dissoluting (is that a word?).
LOL, no sorry I don't have a AVR, I use these on my 1080p tVs, I have a Nvidia shield on my 4k TV. I could hook it up to my 4k TV which has a sound bar connected via ARC and see if the options change. I had issues on my Shield with the HD audio surround sound so I actually have that all disabled on the shield.
I am not sure ARC passes through HD audio..... but I could be wrong.
@@clarkss12 isn't hd audio a marketing term? PCM is capable of HD audio as far as I know and I see PCM listed on mine under audio. So I kind of think the audio is fine on the JS.
@ $39 Mibox S sale price, the $10 difference is no longer applicable. Difference is now $30.

Hi Ronnie Thank for reviewing the Ematic Jetstream 4K box. I am from jhburg South Africa only today 28/01/21 purchased the Ematic 4K Ultra HD Android TV Box did not install as yet just want your opinion on this box is it a good buy or what. I also wanted to find out about the Pro box 2 which everyone claims to be top of the range because of the features and Free TV Life Long does this also applies to South Africa and will it work here and what is the price of this box. Thank you once again for a fantastic program.
The Jetstream 4k is a very good media streamer, and one of the few devices that are Netflix certified.........
Not sure about the Pro Box 2, but it runs the standard Android, so Netflix can only be played in DVD quality, not HD.........
To side load the prime app I put the apk on Google drive and used a file manager app that can connect to drive you have to allow the file manager app to install untrusted sources or something like that.

What is your #1 box you would recommend. There are some many choices on AliExpress. Also I want an easy remote with voice control for my older parents to use.
This is a very good device use as a media player, unless you have 4k TV and a nice surround sound setu, then the Nvidia Shield is the one to get. But I am not sure there is an app for the Amazon prime for this Jetstream.
So, it depends on how they will be using this device.

Ok Ronnie it's been one month since you posted this video. Any new info on this box? Thinking of purchasing one. I refuse to purchase another Mi box. The Mi box bricked on me. I have no warranty.
For the price it is a decent box. Does everything the Mibox can do, but since it is based on Android 8.1, it does not have as many bugs. It does NOT passthrough HD audio, (it passes Dolby Digital and DTS). Also, it does not do auto frame rate switching. The Nvida Shield does both of these things, but a lot more money. I did pick up as Shield when it was on sale for $139.99 a couple of weeks ago. It is a nice unit, but unless you have a newer 4k TV and a newer AVR that does HD audio, you would not see any difference.
Can you watch live sports like ESPN Channels?

Have you tried the Mecool m8s pro L ? Wanted to get your opinion on it. Debating on that one and this Jetstream.
It depends on how you wish to use it and what hardware you have. This is a plug and play device that JUST works. It supports Netflix in UHD (4k) and is Google Certified. It works very well, but some apps like the Amazon Prime have to be side loaded. It also has a locked bootloader, so a lot of apps will not load or even play.
The Mecool M8S Pro L, is very good device, that has a more powerful CPU than this box. It will play Netflix in 1080p with Dolby Digital+ (but not 4k), and will play most other apps that you can side load. Since it has an unlocked bootloader, you can do a whole lot more with it. You can dual boot it into LibreELEC or CoreELEC, don't think there is a Linux port for it though.
Both devices come with almost the same Bluetooth Voice Remote (they both work great). I actually have two of the Mecool M8S Pro L boxes (I have no idea why I bought 2). I have been using the new Jetstream, because it is new, but I always, end up going back to my Mecool since it has more apps installed. It does run hot, though, as all of the Amlogic S912 devices.
So, to answer your question, if you want a device that JUST works, then this Jetstream is the box for you. If you like to tinker, and like to add lots of different apps, the Mecool would be the device for you.
M8s pro L is not Netflix certified
Since this box is certified by Google I guess it should work fine chromecasting from a Google home device
Can you expand storage through USB or only SD slot? How much can the storage be expanded?
Umm DTS is a High Dynamic audio type. It's a Digital Surround Sound Format.
I expect something like DTS-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD, etc. to be HD audio.

When looking for source for Amazon Prime, make sure it is for Nvidia shield, so it works with AndroidTV And not the android mobile version.

How well does it run 24fps movies at Kodi?
Unfortunately, it does not change the frame rate.

It is a real Google Certified Android TV OS box. Same as the Xiaomi Mibox or Nvida Shield.
Can anyone change the tv volume from the remote, when using Live Channels? I can't. Did the mibox allow volume control in Live Channels? I'm thinking if returning my jetstream for this reason, if the mibox can do it.
I just tested changing the volume from my Jetstream remote and it works..... My Jetstream box is connected to my Denon AVR, and it controls the volume from the AVR...
Edit: my AVR was in PCM mode for the volume control to work. If the A
VR is in DD, the volume control does NOT work.
I just tested my Xiaomi Mibox (older one) connected directly to a Sceptre branded TV and the Xiaomi remote did NOT control the TV volume.
@@clarkss12 I don't want to confuse anyone. When my jetstream remote volume keys are pressed, the android box adjusts the volume (volume menu appears at the top of the screen) for nearly every app, except Live Channels. When using live channels, a message pops up saying that the volume cannot be changed. I think the volume buttons works in the hdhomerun app, so I'm upset that it doesn't work in Live Channels. Is there a fix, or a passthrough setting i should be fiddling with? Trying to replace a tivo mini box that keeps crashing with this jetstream box (or the newer mibox S). My older mibox android box works great, but i have it connected to a minivan hdmi for portable viewing)
@@clarkss12 i'll disconnect from TV hdmi2 tonight and hook it up to my onkyo avr and see if it will work, but from the looks of your edit, I'll lose dolby digital. But if I connect it to another tv without a receiver, I'll have to always have 2 remotes. that's horrible. Maybe there is a CEC setting
well, i went into the android tv settings, sound, then changed hdmi to PCM, and now i can control the volume from the included remote.

Probably NOT, it is a Google Certified box, so the bootloader is locked.

How do I program the remote to the box?
Go into settings and select "Remotes and Devices", then select "Add accessory". Depress the center "OK" button and keep it depresses as you also depress the "volume -" button on your remote. The little red led will start flashing when it is in "paring Mode". Preferably hold the remote close to the box.

How do i download aptoide?
There are several ways to install Aptoide, here is the link to the apk for installing from USB drive, networked storage drive or even the "cloud". Just download it, and copy it to a pen drive, and put the pin drive into your box. Open an explorer and click on the APK that you have on your pen drive. It may ask you permission, so enable the permission and install it. X-plore is a file browser that is in the Google Play Store on this box, just install that.

terriable device mine went out 20 days after paying 90 dollars for it it glitches in and out with static and not working right most of the time wouldnt buy tech support isnt as good as other companies that will replace a faulty item why should i have to pay for something that dont work
So I ran speed test on my mi box and this box, both hardwired and it drops 25% in speed on this box
I get 109 on mi box and 77 on this

@@clarkss12 found out why speeds dropped, so the ethernet port supports 10/100 and the adapter I have on my mi box supports 10/100/1000
@@jammeyhuff8931 the mibox only has USB 2 and using a USB ethernet adapter would be limited to 100 as well.

Yes, but this has an Ethernet port and two USB 2 ports and a microSD card slot. The Xiaomi Mibox does not have either of those.
