THANKS FOR WATCHING!
I am a full time van life guy living in Perth. As well as a gym membership I have 3 truck stops Pumu, Shell, and BP all with in 5km if each other that I can use all with free hot 24 hour shower access. Toilets like you said are everywhere but I have a large plastic juice bottle that is perfect for Number 1. I can wash and dry my clothes at a truck stop for $3 and even have discovered a few free WiFi spots were I don't even have to leave the van to pick up a signal. I appreciate your videos and your van set up is top notch you actually helped me make my decision to do this.
Sounds like you’ve got it figured out mate! I’m glad you like the videos and it’s awesome that I could help you get into something you enjoy 🙂 thanks for sticking around and being part of my little RUclips family!
I am part of the way through my first van build :D It's a Mazda e2000 LWB, floors all done, walls will be finished today, tomorrow the walls will be sanded and painted. Tuesday I will be installing my Maxxfan Deluxe with Rain Dome and solar panel. Wednesday the ceiling, and that will be painted, then I will be putting in the vinyl flooring so I can install the cabinets. Then I will take a bit of time to make the bed, and fix any problems that arise from the cabinetry (gaps that need to be filled). Then I can start the purge of my belongings, selling that which can be sold, tossing that that can't be kept. Keeping anything sentimental at my parents place so if the van gets stolen I don't lose everything. Then it's hello van life.
Awesome mate, I know that feeling! You must be excited 🙂
@@FreedomInMindtv Yes I just want it to be finished so i can get in it, but my back is bloody killing me lol. I'm 6'1" and I've hit my head quite a few times, I'm fine with sitting in it and doing stuff, it's all the bending over to drill and what not. I was going to film what I do, but decided to just make an Instagram instead so I can at least document it instagram.com/aussielivingsmall/
The hose joiner on the water hose into itself to stop leaks is genius. Never thought of that. Thanks!!!
Thank you! I’m glad people appreciate my little ideas 🙂
My mum used to always do that.
I always learn cool little tips when I watch your vids. cool tip of today, connecting one end of your hose to the other end so no left over water drips out. Simple, cheap solution to a problem I hadn't even thought about but should have. love it.
That’s so good to hear! I’m glad you’re getting some value from my videos 🙂 thanks for watching
Loved it, I am considering van life myself, and it is the little things but important things, that never get talked about but you need to know about before transitioning to it, you answered a lot of daily life questions :)
Awesome 🙂 glad you enjoyed it and glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
Stop considering and just do it, it will be the best thing you have ever done.... Van life is the best life
Cool enjoy your tea
Thank you!
Sweet quick disconnects on the water hose. Also, the world is your toilet 🚽.
Thank you! Indeed haha
Tell me you didn't flush your toilet down public toilets. That is a big no no. Why not use the dump sites. Signs are springing up everywhere cause some people are making a huge mess in public toilets. We will be going caravaning for the first time very soon. Does the cassette release bad smells while your dumping?
Very nice set up you have there! Watching you fill your fresh water reminded me to replace an item I’d lost called a “Water Bandit.” It’s a rubber connector that allows one to hook up to spigots without a threaded end (to prevent people from hooking up hoses to them and filling their RV tanks....)
Thank you! Yea I’ve seen water bandits before, useful.
Good stuff mate!! Im from nz and love how u explain things on your videos! Keeping it simple and easy.. Planning on doing the same thing as you. even the same van as it's in my budget and the roof etc is big enough. I started looking at hiace Van's but decided they are to small. Anyways thanks for all the advice mate appreciate it.
No worries mate, you are most welcome! Good luck with your build 🙂
Thanks mate, great vid. Seeya Rob
Thanks!
You have everything you need in that van. You blew my mind with the full sized washing machine. WOW!
The only concern I have is with possible cross contamination with your water bottle touching the toilet (to refill the fresh water)and then touching the water spout from your sink and vise versa. The spores could make you violently ill. Be safe and thanks for the great information :-)
The washing machine was at a friends place.
Glad you liked the video! Thanks for continuing to support the channel 🙂
Good practical advice, Thanks
Good vid. I never get sick of your intro music. So cooler than others, ‘cept maybe SV Delos
Hi my friend I hope you are ok and safe. The reason I ask is I haven’t seen a new video for a while and was just making sure you were ok and I look forward to your next video 👍
Thanks Darrell, I’m all good! Just been working on something behind the scenes and had the holiday season so been too busy. New video will be up soon though 👍🏻 hope you are well too!
Hi Tom, great video as usual.
I take it from what you said you are spending ~2-3 hours a week in general living maintenance/house keeping. So about the same amount of time you would spend in a small apartment doing the same thing.
But of course everything is with you and you are not stuck in one place.
As a guess how many hours a week/month do you think you gain back into your life living in the van?
Would you say the main saving is that you need to work less due to lower living expenses, or that because of the small footprint, simplicity and flexibility on location for life's activities is the primary gain, or a combination of both?
In a much earlier video you talked about the problems of it taking so much longer to do things when living in a van, I have previously had the same problem living in a rather small apartment. Was that constraint for you mainly because of the size of the Hiace and now that you have a much bigger van is that mostly alleviated, or at least a more acceptable compromise? Or did you find in that end it was just an acceptable price to pay for having the flexibility of the van?
Thanks mate, these are all great questions that I think I will make a video on instead of answering them here 👍🏻
thanks. newly subscribed and staying tuned. #myvanlifecomingsoonthanksforallthetipsstayingtuned?
I'm curious what you do during the week?
I’m gonna be making more day in the life style videos so you will soon find out 🙂 thanks for watching
I cant help but feel like that hose is getting moldy.
Where do you fill up the gas bottles. I used to do swap n go at the petrol stations. Also how much does it cost for a full bottle. Thank you.
I just go to service stations that do refills. Normally costs about $10aud 👍🏻
But in the middle of the nite? You go to the gym to use the toilet?
I’m not a germophobe by any stretch and I am entirely at home with toilet waste but a couple of rules please. No gloves is fine but soap and water please, and don’t touch your shit then touch your sink ( full of dirty dishes)! Breaking up the porta porti on tue bed is asking for trouble unless you enjoy sleeping in shit spray.
You might be a germophobe 😁 thanks for watching
Great video as always mate, ppl can toilet anywhere...some compare it to brain surgery lol,
spiders in the tap yuck lol have u subed to my channel yet bro????
