The wording of problem 5 could be confusing. I read it and I thought that "his money" referred to the $5 that he started with. I read it like this: I'm going to spend 1/4 of the $5 on food and 3/10 of the $5 on soda. !Great content!
Same here i started to read the commens after problem 5th been solved, all the previous simular asvab problesm that i did wanted to subtract all the shares from the original number. Now im confused..
You are correct he or she started with $5. The fractional parts could be added, then, subtracted from $5, or the fractions could be subtracted individually from $5. The same answer should be got either way. This one is a freebie, but in the future, you send me a little something for my help.
Hello grammar hero I’m currently watching this for my second retake on the asvab since I sadly made a 20, and I have a question, what if the big number as in 1 1/3 what if the 1 before 1/3 is negative and your diving or multiplying etc, what will happen?
You need to understand the effect negative and positive expressions have on the outcome of the answer. In division, two negatives result in a positive; while a negative, and a positive will give a negative result. The same is true for problems involving multiplication. I assume you know the results when subtraction and addition of two numbers are involved. If not send me a fee for giving you that information.
im studying for the teas test and I had fractions questions on my test and I think this might help because when I took the test I had no idea what to do lol I watch your video last night and went over a question I didn't understand and got the right answer

lol for the final problem I didn't do any of the math what I did was established that 6 had to be multiplied 4 times to be 24 meaning 6.1=6 was 1/4, 6.2=12 was 2/4 and 6.3=18 was 3/4 so I knew since 18 was 3/4 my answer would be 18 glad it worked out at the end cause I been struggling allll video long to do any of these problems. im trying to understand the math parts more tho cause I know not every problem can be solved like this
Seem like you have problems in comprehension as well as the mechanics of problem - solving. I would advise you work on that problem. He will not tell you that, since he would rather sugar coat.
Im so confused because when I tried doing the first problem by myself I multiplied 3 and 10 but than I subtracted 3/8 because the question asked how many did she give away? I thought that was a term for minus? Why did you multiply that? 😓 Kindly asking lol

For question 5, I did 1/4 plus 3/10 and used 40 as my denominator. Got 120/40 and divided that and go 3. I did 5/1-3/1 and got $2. Is that wrong since I didn’t get 2.625?
That question, in hindsight, is poorly written, so I would just skip it! In the video, I subtracted the 1/4 first because he spent that amount first, which left him with $3.75. Then, I found 3/10 of his remaining 3.75, which was $1.125 and left him with $2.625. The way you solved it is also correct! Again, it's a poorly worded question, and it can be interpreted either way!
Sometimes, decimals are easier to work with than fractions. I'm pretty sure I said that in the video, too. The point of the question was to show you the relationship between decimals and fractions.

It is inaccurate to do that. That can only be done, if the numerator was larger than the denominate, as in 21/19.
