      I've been saints fan my entire life, since I was 10 years old in 1990. I know coach Payton well. Believe you me, he WISHES he could tell the truth, he really does. He has been instructed and forced to lie. Likely to protect any trade value Wilson has. Lol you aint never met somebody who likes to tell the truth as much as Payton. He really is his father's son, and by that I mean to say if you're talking to coach Payton if you closed your eyes you'd swear you were listening to coach Bill Parcells himself.

      Saints fan here. The play was called "ambush" and he actually had to speak with the referees about it before the game even started so they were ready and could call the play properly. He just didn't tell them WHEN lol. Lots of folks don't know this, and don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE coach Payton, always will, but that superbowl was all God. That entire season was filled with so many miracles you can't count them. God did it. He used Coach Payton, but make no mistake,
      God did all the heavy lifting. From Drew even coming here to our owner miraculously deciding after 30 years to actually spend money for once yo individual plays ( like sharper having 5 pick 6s on the year) I could go on and on.

    • @robertocalderon1584
      @robertocalderon1584 7 месяцев назад

      Of course russ isn't coming back...his teammates don't like him apparently, and his coach has almost no confidence in him at all,and by all accounts he is in decline. Add to that he ran to the media when they asked him to restructure his deal and made things a circus. We restructured Drew's deal every year,sometimes twice a year ( we're STILL paying him) and he never went running to the media. They're not gonna tell anyone they're gonna cut him, till after the draft so it doesn't hurt their chances of landing a QB, which will probably at #12 be Bo Nix. See in New orleans we were set to draft mahomes at 11 and got leapfrogged out of nowhere, so Sean learned from that lesson. The "russ is coming back" thing is all tied to the broncos need to DRAFT a QB.

  • @shipjumper6068

    I think Sean Payton likes Russell Wilson as a person. He just doesn’t like him as a timing QB. Payton can embrace Wilson’s mobility and he still has a strong arm, because no one talks about it, but Russell Wilson threw the two longest passes in air yards this season. Russell Wilson just breaks the pocket earlier than Payton likes and Wilson never seemed to change this throughout the season, and Payton got fed up with it. The problem is that Jarrett Stidham was not a good replacement for the last two games, plus after Russell Wilson brought the Broncos back to tie the Patriots game with 2 minutes left in the game, Payton made the mistake of calling timeouts that basically help put the patriots in position to kick a FG for the win and Payton benched Wilson to get the attention off of him for losing the game more so than Wilson. The patriots were playing for overtime until Payton called those timeouts. Wilson would’ve won the Charger game the next week and gave the broncos a better chance to beat the Raiders than Stidham.

      Seans offense's are progression reads and timing. Russ just rolls out and dances around in the pocket till someone is wide open. They just aren't a good fit. I dunno why Sean gets so much flack for not wanting this type of QB. People really don't understand football. Sean gave Russ probably one of his best years with TD schemes in the Redzone that left guys wide open. His playcalling was insane. I've been watching football for 30+ years and some of the redzone stuff he did blew my mind. We just need a better QB. That said, Russ still has some magic left and can succeed somewhere else too. In a more RPO system like in Baltimore.

      Naw, sorry but your dead wrong. You all can't afford even a top "bridge QB" right now...much less Cousins. Even coming off injury. They sit at #12 with pat surtain, and Jerry Judy on rookie deals plus next years 1st 2nd and 3rd. It's funny I've been watching Payton so long and know the history so well ( the way the chiefs jumped us to steal mahomes at #10, same spot) I can tell you the play. They're going to be "keeping Wilson " until after the draft. They will draft a QB and it's likely to be a small trade up to say #8 or #9 to pick up Bo Nix. Or he may even fall there to #12 but I doubt Payton risks it. That's the play. Your welcome. Of all the QBs only really 3 fit Paytons system that's Drake Maye, Micheal Penix,and Bo Nix. Maye will go way too high. Penix likely will too but has past injury concerns so they'll stay away from him most likely. McCarthy is erratic. Nix is the pick, and Jaden Daniel's and Micheal Penix strong showing this year will create the perfect atmosphere for him to fall to #8-#12

    I think what alot of broncos fans are missing is that Russel Wilson's physical ability is in decline, because of this he even "hears footsteps now". Sean doesn't hate Russ, it's just he JUST went through this for 3-4 years with an actual hall of fame QB who was a precision pocket passer that did all the little things right( all the little things Russ doesnt do)...and we still couldn't get back to the superbowl, even with a top 10 defense. You have to make the defense defend every blade of grass, or in pressure situations you go out like Drew did in his last game against Tampa in the playoffs, or like russ has the last couple of seasons. It's quite possible he just saw no future in it. I will say that negotiating such a ridiculously over the top contract and yourself an office like you're part of management probably didn't endear russ to anyone. The whole reason Payton left us in New orleans was he wanted a clean slate, a fresh start, not trying to win with someone else's accrued bad decisions. With 6-7 potential starting QBs in this draft I just believe Payton could see the ceiling with russ on this team and in this system and made a judgement call. Everyone whining about how Mims is used need to realize he is a rookie. No one gets to play on paytons teams based on talent alone. I've seen him draft a 1000 yard rusher out of Ohio state in the top 125 picks no less and cut him before the season even started in favor of a UDFA that never gained over 700 yards in a season...but averaged over 4 yards a carry for his career and helped the saints win a superbowl. He doesn't grade players by measurables, stats or physical measurables. He grades them on execution and understanding of the playbook...in paytons offense it's the NUANCES that kill, the weekly wrinkle, the wrinkle upon the wrinkle upon the wrinkle in week 13 you can get to work in the 4th quarter because THE DEFENSE HAS NEVER SEEN IT. If you're a one trick pony though and you can't master the nuance there's not a whole lot to build on to be successful.

    Broncos need to trade Wilson and salvage whatever they can get for him. Go get Bo Nix or someone to invest in. Someone like Brees who Payton is familiar with

    • @shipjumper6068
      @shipjumper6068 7 месяцев назад +3

      No one is trading for any of these 50 million dollar QBs. Not even Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Aaron Rodgers, Jalen Hirts or Dak Prescott is worth trading for with a 50 million dollar price tag on them. Patrick Mahomes is the only QB worth that kind of money and maybe Aaron Rodgers if he’s healthy, because they’ve won a Super Bowl before. Russell is worth it more than those other guys because he’s won it also, but in reality, having any QB other than Mahomes will handicap your team from acquiring other players needed to fill positions on the team. If the Broncos had Josh Allen, they’ll turn the ball over more than Wilson did, might go 10-7 and for sure lose in the playoffs because Josh Allen is a choke artist, but everyone will make excuses for Josh Allen losing.

So did Drew. They could pass for 150 yards and totally control the flow of the game.

      You prefer he say " yeah, hey other 31 nfl teams, we will be targeting a QB in this upcoming draft at picks #8-#12 so go ahead and leapfrog us" come on bro use your head. It's pre draft and the broncos can't afford a FA QB. Nor Can they afford 50 million a year for mediocre. They tried to work with Wilson to limit the teams financial exposure due to his regression and aging but he was combative and ran to the media. They weren't even taking it from him, just asked him to delay it a couple months, and he cried to the press. We used to restructure Drew's deal every year, sometimes twice a year. In fact we are still paying Drew. Im a saints fan since 1990 when I was 10, I know coach Payton well. He is likely drafting Bo Nix. That's the play. But nothing will point to that. They will talk about Daniel's, Caleb, or Maye but the target is Nix. I just know. Bit anyway you can't tip your hand my dude. There are sharks in the water that smell blood and love to see denver stay on the bottom. Paytons not gonna let that happen. Like Marlo Stanfield "his name is his name" you'll see. Pat Surtain and Jerry jeudy will likely be traded along with pick 12, and next years 1st...this is because you need a LT and a QB much more than you need a CB and an underperforming wr. With a good QB Payton can protect a defense.
