I really admire how well you are at reviewing books! Really got an idea of this book; even though it sounds super vague, haha :)

I can't make up my mind if I want to read it, or if I don't 😅 On one hand, it sounds so interesting, on the other you said it dragged. I think I'll try his shorter works may be first. Like One Man's Bible or Buying a Fishing Rod for my Grandfather and then will see. 🌞 Thank you for introducing the author to us I haven't heard of him before 📚

@@KDbooks That's okay. I'll get it myself if I decide to read it. What if I don't like these two other books :) but thank you for the offer :)

To me this sounds like it could either be really good or really a flop for me ... So many possibilities. I read Xiaolu Guo's memoir a few years ago and really liked it if you want to try more, she also has novels.

Well Gao is . . . french nowadays. Thank you for sharing your passion. Do you know Deançois Cheng. He is 'huge' . . . Is really 'brain wider than the sky' ?

Do you take notes while reading depending on the subject? I'm finding learning about the welsh customs quite complicated. I'm guessing you heard journey to the west or three kingdoms.

Well it seemed like at the very least it made you want to learn more about China. Cant believe you managed to take down the 500 page book for something you give a 5/10... thats some commitment to the reviews! Well done
I saw an awesome video on youtube "How China Ruined Everything" that you may enjoy...

Well well well, I was talking about you yesterday! I’ve finished Angela Carter’s The Infernal Desire Machines of Dr Hoffman and it is WILD.
She must have based Dr Hoffman off the actual Dr Hoffman who discovered LSD! There is a cacophony of occult, religion, taboo, fetish and general absurdity that I think you would ADORE

@@KDbooks LMAO, i have never heard of this book but I am reading the description right now....
from wikipedia "Set in an unspecified Latin American country, the novel features Desiderio, a government minister in the main city, currently under attack by Doctor Hoffman's reality-distorting machines"
ahahahaha, this sounds right up my alley.... Hoffmans "reality distorting machines", wonder what tha tcould be a metaphor for 🤣 🤣 🤣
