Steve is absolute class, a real gent and a great mentor. Calming down the over complicated thoughts and simplifying each shot to gain confidence and allow misses to be less intimidating. Think his influence will only benefit your game! Keep up the great work and great content!
What a quality vlog and Steve is an absolute star. Great to hear his take on how you plot your way around a course, and the thinking. Advice for us all. Can see why he has done so well. Your game is in a great place now James. Just gotta hit fairways and take it on course during tournament rounds.... Steve’s caddy don’t think twice, go do it.....
What an absolute gent Steve is, seems like a great guy giving you superb advice, I think you force some shots at times and Steve's advice after 5 holes was take a club more and a nice easy swing and it worked a charm every time! Keep working with Steve!
Nice of this bloke to help but he's said a lot of this before. Next round report... I tried a knock down thirty foot fade holding into the wind 2-iron and snap hooked it for a 7! Either way I'm all in.
Another really insightful video. One thing that Steve talks about in every hole is having a target in the distance to start or aim your shot at. Personally I overlook this when I’m playing and think too much about the pin or the green. Having something like a tree in the distance can really focus the mind and allow you to hit the right shot.
absolutely brilliant content, mate. you and steve lowkey make a really good team. i appreciate you guys taking the time to share with us. hope to see more like this. thank you!!
It is surprising just how much sound advice in the form of course management can impact scoring. James is fortunate to have Steve helping him, I can see this arrangement really benefiting James providing he makes a point of taking the advice and actually practicing it when playing. and that goes for all of us.
I totally agree with Steve. If you can, try and hit your stock shot and commit to it. If you're 5 yards long because you flushed it then that's not a bad result! Good stuff James, can see some great scores coming
That was really interesting James. And it shows that as you (we) are playing better golf, we must learn new shots all the times. Like when one doesn't have the guns to reach the green in 2, then ups and downs will save pars. But if one can reach the greens in 2, then chances are that the 1st putt will be a longer 1 and birdie chances would be around 10-12 feet away from the pin. Your chipping was really good. Increasing your stats on the putter from 10-12 feet will prove very effective. Good luck. Really hope you make it on your soon.
Enjoy listening to a player like Steve work his way (well, your way, James!) around the course. Envious of his steady game. Love watching him in the other Vlogs. Such a great player! Cheers James!
So much better, James. This video really showed how your game has improved. Hopefully you took a lot from how Steve (legend btw) caddied you round there. Enjoying the content recently mate, keep it up.
Really good video James. I’ve followed your game for a couple of years now. You’re now starting to look like a tour pro! This video proves you’ve definitely got the shots, but course management is the key. Good man 👌🏻
Great combination of people. You staying local mate - hell of a journey to keep making. Cumbs is my Mo in Laws club, plenty of places to stay in area if you need a stop over mate.
great video your caddie makes it so easy ,just watching it makes u think positive about game managment ,get him on your bag james for a couple of tournaments im sure u would do well,if not im available
Could watch these videos all day (and sometimes do!). Any idea what the app was that Steve used on the 2nd hole you played to measure distance to the bunker at all? Please keep the vids coming 👍
Just wondering about your driver, loft/length/shaft...etc. I assume its custom fitted but do you feel there is 'no fear' when hitting driver or would a few yards less and a couple more fairways hit be a plus? Also curious about some of the decisions off the tee leaving less than 100yds (or full club in)....thoughts? Maybe a self test to see if you get closer on average from 60-70yds vs 100-120yds?
Great improvements mate. Just seems like your weight with the putter is a little off? Have you tried stepping out your putts and having a feel for say 10ft, 15, 20ft?
It’s an easy game. Fairways, greens in regulation, one or two putt. Move on. 👏👏 If a few more putts had dropped you could easily have been 4, 5 or even 6 under. You’re way better than you realise.
I like what he said about the shot into the par 3 about tour average...I played with a few good players on saturday and told them a few times "good shot" on their drives. They were like "actually pulled that 20 yards left of where I was aiming"....20 yards left with a driver is NOTHING!😂😂 just such unrealistic expectations
No disrespect but It’s a shame your not getting more recognition for this stuff. Steve’s insight into some of those shots are second to non! No other channels (that I know of) do this, just go for click baity silly threads with hints of marketing. This stuff will actually improve your rounds. One day you will be up there with the “big boys” if you keep this up james. Your content will shine through, keep it up it’s great 😎
Cheers Michael, yeah it's growing slow tbh but the audience I do have is engaged so I would rather have that than a load of randoms tbat appear from clickbait shite
7:15 lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's what happens when you are a knock down iron player, and you trying smooth stock, but knock down comes in and you fighting it off. Hey, believe it or not, once your fall in love with the knock down, it can hurt your stock shot. Gotta put in time to work on both.
You shouuld go and play a game of golf with 1 iron only. Take it one day a week with a different iron every week and play 9 holes just with 1 iron. Will make you more versatile with your irons and a better iron player.
Steve is such a class ls act. He summed James up perfectly in the par 3, you just hit a shot within your average and your still disappointed! Ha. Take not JW 👍👍
OK now you're just trolling the one arm hater guy.😂😂😂. Shows if have a sensible caddy (not flower) you can play. That was a pretty stress free 9 just the putter wasn't hot
I do like Steve - calming influence
Yes, he reminds me of a hot George Michael without the looks.

Great advice. I started breaking 80 after taking one more club on all iron shots. Steve a classy dude.
Nice of this bloke to help but he's said a lot of this before. Next round report... I tried a knock down thirty foot fade holding into the wind 2-iron and snap hooked it for a 7! Either way I'm all in.

Just seen clips of this on my homepage dude, swings looking mint. Let’s catch up soon ⛳️🎥🤘🏼🔥
Cheers mate! Yeah let's film again soon been too long 👍

Simple no ego advice from Steve. Top quality.
It was pretty cool seeing you guys bounce info back and forth.
Enjoyed that and just shows the importance of experience and having that second opinion to boost the confidence - liked the green reading ideas too!
Enjoy listening to a player like Steve work his way (well, your way, James!) around the course. Envious of his steady game. Love watching him in the other Vlogs. Such a great player! Cheers James!
Cheers!
A video I'd like to see is.... you at a fitter and preferably outside, getting all your gear dialed in.
Or Flower at a fitter. Can't imagine how he'd even try to sort him out 😂
James Ovenden Flower is a fitters dream with his ‘neutral’ ball flight. That and his 110 mph swing speed PW.
Love having Steve's advice. Really great video
Very good to see Steve’s course management
So much better, James. This video really showed how your game has improved. Hopefully you took a lot from how Steve (legend btw) caddied you round there. Enjoying the content recently mate, keep it up.
Brilliant content fellas, course management invaluable for hackers like us too!
Steve is so good at keeping things simple. Another top vid
for sure my favorite video on your channel
Enjoyed that mate. I like Steve's calm thinking. Class act
Awesome to here his analysis of targets and reason for clubs.
Stress free quality golf
Great video 😊 What’s the name of the app Steve uses for length info?
Really good video James. I’ve followed your game for a couple of years now. You’re now starting to look like a tour pro!

I loved that. Goes to show it doesn't have to be super complicated. Nice one
These are great. More long course vlogs like this.
Great course management
Well played! And damm good advice! keep it up ! Bravo

Worth making the trip every over week though to get some good stuff, cheers!
I played Cumberwell for a year. Great venue!
Another great video. You'll have to get flower on the bag 🤣👍
Class that. I honestly think steve is quality. Simplifies golf in a really positive way
Like to see this one again for tournament prep 👍
Brilliant video more like this please 👍👍
Learning you steady golf which you need ... you have the better shots in the bag but this will make your bad rounds a lot better

Really enjoy that mate! Quality video.
Steve is awesome, are you able to have Steve as a caddie in one of your tournament? Calming influence. Loved the there's an athlete part haha
Great insight Steve, thanks!! 👍🙂
When James said 190 was a strong 7 iron he just went "NOOO"🤣
Your best video yet for me, great advice from Steve.
You def have the game, keep at it 👍

James. Your recent content has been great. Do you think you psych yourself out when you hit irons into the wind?
Great improvements mate. Just seems like your weight with the putter is a little off? Have you tried stepping out your putts and having a feel for say 10ft, 15, 20ft?
hoodie on that allowed lol !!!!!!!!!
Great caddying. I need to hire someone to do this.

How to play golf made simple. Nothing complicated says it all!
that's a very nice swing

Class!
Yes!
been telling the lads down the pub for years, "if i had a caddy, i would be on the pga tour by now"
Rock solid, “much like a house”

Your biggest strength needs to be your driver. You have the speed just need to keep it in play.
It's doing things like this that will get your game in shape to make it on tour. easy as that. Period.
What app is Steve using on his phone?
Grindr
Would love to know as well!
Golfshot?
Google earth works
Why does the camera shake so much?
Keep it simple James, youve got all the shots in the locker you just need to find the key!

Harry flower should spend some time watching this video... it could help
Wdym hes the next Tiger Woods
Flower doesn't have time to watch videos. He's too busy winning Majors.

Carry driver 300 in the winter in England!! Really? Top 25 on pga tour with that kinda length wow!
Go back 18 months and check the logm drive stuff
@@GolfJamesWiltshire yeah I’m impressed! Very jealous 😂 265 through the air for me in winter if I’m lucky. Need to start some speed training 💪🏼
Simple advice just hit more normal/stock shots instead of trying to do too much with it
Yeah like cutting or taking some off when it doesn’t require it
Know your lengths. Your true lengths not what you think they are
