I originally called this a "crash compilation" but in reality it is not. I wanted to test the damage in different cars from the generations. please dont take this as a super-serious video I am just trying to compare this system to 2016 and the previous games :)
The way the cars hit & bounce off the barriers seems really realistic, looks great. Same when hitting other cars. Wish they had more a extensive damage model still.
datgoaltho Renzo Moretti In Grid autosport (made by codies) open wheel cars can lose the whole front nose as well as the rear wing. So, it definitely has to do with licensing. The sponsors/ fia don't want their logos damaged. Otherwise the proper damage would be quite easy to implement for codies as done in grid games.
Codemasters would make f1 cars to be able to be broken in so many ways, if the sponsors wouldn't get mad looking at their shiny vinyls on the car being scraped down...
inkub69 this was 2-3 years ago. I'll try to find it but no guarantee. But think about it yourself, why won't codies just use the extensive damage system from the Grid open wheel cars? I mean their game engine is very good at dynamic damage. Well, it's because they're obviously not allowed. Otherwise it would be quite easy for them to do a much better damage model as they've already done in grid / dirt games.
The reason the cars are not that damaged after crashes is the licencing, the sponsors don't want it :/ like im going to sit and look at sponsors when im racing lol
Attila Szamosfalvi Lol, was literally laughing for five minutes :DDD. Palmer gotta be like: "I'm calmly driving around the track, chilling, and suddenly 'puff', the Haas in front of me just disappears!" :DDD
The pieces from Front wings doesn't make F1 tyre explode,The front nose doesn't damage at all, The Rear wing doesn't come off,And the wall doesn't damage
James it's probably something they're not confident in it's ability to do its job right, so it's not in these pre release versions/will be patched in once they get it to where they're happy with it.
I love how in the classic cars tyres are not subjected to the car, just like in real life. The damage model is a million times better than the one in F1 2013.
Running this game in 4k on my 1070, a laptop. Absolutely amazing it can run at 4k and still be playable (40-50fps is playable for me anyway). Looks spectacularly realistic.
The tire physics look better than in 2016. I remember in '16 the tire would float through the car and go under the floor. This year it looks like it doesn't go through things, and it bounces off of objects.
The only downside is that when you crash into someone, the car is still being held back, and then a slight delay for the damage (say tyres). While in reality (Try looking up Rosberg Abu Dhabi 2012, Max Monaco 2015), they just run over what's in front.
Haven't played an F1 game in a few years and i hate that they still have such a short cut-off time after you DnF. Like lemme watch the whole accident and i'll decide when i'm done
Rear tyre damage needs to be more sensitive, and the tyres should probably puncture a little easier, but other than that, I think thats the best we could hope for until FOM allows rear wing / sidepod damage etc
what i hate the most is that when you lose a tire you got 4 seconds until its game over. when the crash is bigger and more cars a are involved you don't see the full crash.
This just looks like you went online for a few hours and gave us the replays. As for the crashes, they don't seem realistic at all but they do good enough to convey the concept and give semi-realistic damage without ruining the fun. If you're worried about more than just if the game supports losing the front wing then it probably isn't the right game for you.
unbelievable they didn´t realise a demage model close to dirt or other codies games in 7 damn years. Thats so unsatisfying. It might be, that many players think thats not too important, but hell, its 2017...It would add so much more realismn
I know the FOM wont allow sidepods to fly off because of sponsors and stuff, but i think that the mechanics when one car hits another could be tweaked a bit
Redish well that's rubbish :( sucks when games are restricted cos some manufacturer sponsors it. Also seems like you have to hit stuff quite hard to get the front wing parts to crop off. The cars look 'wooden" when they crash and collide, like awkward crash test dummies that are stiff and jerky, dunno, just looks like it could be better physics wise. Graphics though look stunning.
If not for the licensing, they should've include nose, sidepod, diffuser, and headrest damage, puncture, brake and other mechanical problems, wall and barrier damage, and many more.
What I still dont like is how the ai pulls of the track when they have a mechanical problem, looks so dumb, same with the pit entry, looks so unrealistic when they turn into the box.
They need to do better job because the tires are usually flat after they come off on Formula 1 and they need to put more physics on the body damage as well. Also debris should be part of the game
The tyres should deform easly like in reality but in the game the"re intact or the nose deformation or rear wing deformation, a lot that codemasters dont think, and when you crash into the wall or a tyre barrier the car should destroy and get into the barrier not bouncing on it like if it was an undestructible car and wall, i think GP4 Has better damage effects....
Renzo Moretti In Grid autosport (made by codies) open wheel cars can lose the whole front nose as well as the rear wing. So, it definitely has to do with licensing. The sponsors/ fia don't want their logos damaged. Otherwise the proper damage would be quite easy to implement for codies as done in grid games.
4:42 yellow flags drunk Ferrari up ahead 7:40 'spa 1998' you know what happened 1:00 - 1:55 when u just can't get the last sheep into the pen AKA massa
Once in a practice session I hit my whole front wing off and went to the pit but as I drove the lap to the pit my MFD showed I randomly got rear wing damage and my rear wing turned orange which I've never seen before? I couldn't test if DRS was working because it was raining that session.
Man i'm pissed of the damage should be more extensive for the front wing and tyres… even when you hit another car or they hit you they rarely get damaged…
Because Codemasters suck. Best F1 game I ever played was Microprose Formula 1 Grand Prix, if you had a fatal crash you could watch it all playout on the track, and even continue to watch as the marshals eventually remove your car.You could even then sit back and watch the other cars continue until the race is over.
The fact that you can full on hit a rear tyre of the cars, your front tires come of like sponge but rear tyres stay in tacted like they made out of Minecraft enchanted Diamonds. Logic Codies Logic.
I originally called this a "crash compilation" but in reality it is not. I wanted to test the damage in different cars from the generations. please dont take this as a super-serious video I am just trying to compare this system to 2016 and the previous games :)
AlexZAfRo I think 'worried engineer' is a better title anyway
AlexZAfRo ,The Front nose of the car doesn't damage at all and the debris doesn't make any tyres explode
9:47 tho... BAI! HAVE A GOOD TIME!
AlexZAfRo its laggy as shut
AlexZAfRo omg classic cars have tethers
I didnt realize that thecars nowadays have indestructable rear wings
Drew Vesely Linsencing
Drew Vesely is it because of licensing??? Bc of gearboxes remaining invisible etc and sponsors ?
@@EBMediaYT f1 2006 game had rear wing damage
The way the cars hit & bounce off the barriers seems really realistic, looks great. Same when hitting other cars.
Wish they had more a extensive damage model still.
datgoaltho it‘s all about licensing ... :/

inkub69 it's been said by codemasters themselves many a times on the forums.
inkub69 this was 2-3 years ago. I'll try to find it but no guarantee. But think about it yourself, why won't codies just use the extensive damage system from the Grid open wheel cars? Are you ok ? That was a big one !
Xenomorph1508 I am shook as Palmer avoided an accident
AlexZAfRo
😂😂
For you...
That's What she Says 😂
Confirm you're ok
I wish the crash sequence was longer when getting terminal damage
Wish they'd include damage to the sidepods like when Ricciardo got hit in Hungary and you saw the radiator bust
Mclaren Nimbus FOM Licensing mate
Mclaren Nimbus yep like vettel in Singapour
'
You hit the barrier with the rear and the front wing comes off!?!?!?! How this is supposed to happen Codies???
Should have used kvyat for this lol
Edit: then it would be realistic crashes
K Dub
Ikr
Sainz at Canada was also not bad, so for some variaty it's fair
I hate how in every game they don't have any back wing damage
Chardog 303 licensing issues
The reason the cars are not that damaged after crashes is the licencing, the sponsors don't want it :/ like im going to sit and look at sponsors when im racing lol
It's not the sponsors as in the adverts you see but the car manufactures don't want their cars looking fragile , bad PR
so the same damage module with still the good old immortal Rear wings, lovely...
9:47 Surprise! :D
Attila Szamosfalvi 😂😂😂
Attila Szamosfalvi Lol, was literally laughing for five minutes :DDD. Palmer gotta be like: "I'm calmly driving around the track, chilling, and suddenly 'puff', the Haas in front of me just disappears!" :DDD

I'm getting so bored of 'that was a big crash, are you ok?'
Don't crash then T-Cam noob.
@@edwardjam9832 WOW SO KIND
1 day left i can not wait! Love the fact that some of the old cars dont have tethers. Looks amazing.
The pieces from Front wings doesn't make F1 tyre explode,The front nose doesn't damage at all, The Rear wing doesn't come off,And the wall doesn't damage
Because the sponsors won't allow the car to get torn up because they don't want to see there logos getting destroyed lol
James it's probably something they're not confident in it's ability to do its job right, so it's not in these pre release versions/will be patched in once they get it to where they're happy with it.
You Chose the wrong Toro Rosso driver😉
Neeme Nurming 👀👀👀
I love how in the classic cars tyres are not subjected to the car, just like in real life.
The damage model is a million times better than the one in F1 2013.
xBaphometHx Indycar Racing from 1993 had better damage model than this year F1 2017.
Well, Racedriver GRID also had a better damage model, but I am aware that Codies can't make it too realistic because of their license requirements.
One of the reasons why I love these F1 games by Codemasters is the crash physics
Why don't rear wings come off
Dragon The FOM won't allow it
In F1 2006 the rear wing could be destroyed
NtsParadize 2006 was different :P you could even be a test driver on the game
NtsParadize The FOM don't want the sponsers coming off the rear wing.
The Rigby Zone But not in 2006?
Good to see the damage is much more sensitive, great video alex!
AndrewF1Gaming not really that sensitive:
Rear wing doesn t come off and same for rear tyres(when you crash into others)
LukHD Omega Rear wing should defintly come off, but in 2016 it used to chip a bit off when you collided with the wall so I expect the same this year
LukHD Omega Is that just me or rear tyre on 4:04 came off realistic
Adrian Vuković yeah, but not because a crash into other drivers
Yeah but that is improved
Running this game in 4k on my 1070, a laptop. Absolutely amazing it can run at 4k and still be playable (40-50fps is playable for me anyway). Looks spectacularly realistic.
Obviously the damage model could be better, I remember Grid had a great model but atleast there is progress year on year :D
FINALLY SOMEBODY TESTS THE DAMAGE
The tire physics look better than in 2016. I remember in '16 the tire would float through the car and go under the floor. This year it looks like it doesn't go through things, and it bounces off of objects.
Andrew Vasquez yeah...but still shitty
Ahhhh yes! I've waited for a video like that
Imagine how much fun the devs must have testing this...
They should add rear wing damage
The only downside is that when you crash into someone, the car is still being held back, and then a slight delay for the damage (say tyres). While in reality (Try looking up Rosberg Abu Dhabi 2012, Max Monaco 2015), they just run over what's in front.
2:28 "Easy on the car until we get it repaired, we don't wanna risk making this worse" immediately crashes and loses a wheel
Haven't played an F1 game in a few years and i hate that they still have such a short cut-off time after you DnF. Like lemme watch the whole accident and i'll decide when i'm done
Didn't know Maldonado had a RUclips channel
Can the rear wing be damaged as well?
Yes it can!
Really?, must be rare though because Alex hit a few cars in the rear and their wing never got damaged
Redish hit it into the barrier
Damilola Adeniji What do you mean?I'm german my english is bad sorry
Abc def go into the barrier backwards
Grandissimo, entusiasmante, inarrivabile, grazie di cuore, ragazzi della Codemasters.
man i hate it when you crash, the game removes sound, colours and slows down....
Maxitsu24 agreed
Video was sponsored by Maldonado
Seems pretty similar to 2016 frankly.
I agree
4:26 there u have some
this one includes it :)
you are right my friend :)
But more pieces of carbon fibre
Looks ok, still some way to go id say on the damage model, those rear wings look bullet proof in rear shunts especially
Pretty glad the don't make a thousand 360 spins when you hit the wall! 😂
First F1 driver in history (well, besides the Maldonator) to max out his points on his super license in one race
There should at least be mirror damage. The sensitivity is much better but needs to improve every aspect that's not FOM regulated
Why is it impossible to damage the rear wing. In F1 2006 it was possible and if you damaged it your race was over
Luis Méndez Because FOM changed
good to see that AI cars can dnf as well in a crash, not like in F1 2016 where they just bounced of your car
6:15 when 3 cars try to be first in to the pits xD
😂😂😂
unbelievable they didn´t realise a demage model close to dirt or other codies games in 7 damn years. Thats so unsatisfying. It might be, that many players think thats not too important, but hell, its 2017...It would add so much more realismn
It's incredible how nowdays the rear wing doesn't breake with these hits, please Codemasters, let's improve that!!!
DEFINETLY could be better codies

You can set the crash settings on realism and than it its realy real
If not for the licensing, they should've include nose, sidepod, diffuser, and headrest damage, puncture, brake and other mechanical problems, wall and barrier damage, and many more.
You sound like a young Martin Brundle. Keep up the good work!
8:00 doing a rosberg😂😂😂
That was a big one, confirm you're okay
The crashes look much more realistic, than the previous game fot sure
3:50 Feeling some form of Deja Vu here
Is it a plane? Is it a bird? No its stroll's front wing😂😂
i would have expected a few of those high speed crashed and interlocking wheels would result in cars being launched into the air...
We all have those days when we are playing this game, and you just crash every car in the race just for the fun of it XD
Woh!!That Crash in 5:03 !
Ag Xenikos 14 vettel would be throwing a hissy fit after that one
Using a Toro Rosso but with Carlos Sainz..... That's a huge mistake
20+ years later, a crash in Grand Prix 2 still looks more realistic
Denise Williams licensing issues man..they arent allowed to go more in depth
What I still dont like is how the ai pulls of the track when they have a mechanical problem, looks so dumb, same with the pit entry, looks so unrealistic when they turn into the box.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Oh dear Monaco where are you xDDD
Oh is here 4:26
lol xD
Must have been racing as Kvyat to have all those crashes in a Toro Rosso
The rear wing doesn't ever really get damaged.
EH44LH Mercedes SAD MOMENT FOR ME TOO
I want the AI drivers to have major lap 1 crashes like you saw in Singapore. That and a destructible tear wing
They need to do better job because the tires are usually flat after they come off on Formula 1 and they need to put more physics on the body damage as well. Also debris should be part of the game
GreenMachine Licensing issues there is nothing they can do
i like this game, keeps you on edge, skill is required
The tyres should deform easly like in reality but in the game the"re intact or the nose deformation or rear wing deformation, a lot that codemasters dont think, and when you crash into the wall or a tyre barrier the car should destroy and get into the barrier not bouncing on it like if it was an undestructible car and wall, i think GP4 Has better damage effects....

Renzo Moretti
The FIA doesn‘t allow heavy damage Effects in F1 Games
What!????
Renzo Moretti
Yes, it is a licence thing. Discussed for years, it‘s a shame. But they don‘t want that the Cars get destroyed.
GP4 damage model reigns supreme🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
PASTORS BACK!!!!!!!
When I’m so crap at the game I actually crash in the formation lap on the starting grid.

The nose never gets broken mmmmh
I think there done a great job, looks really realistic.
4:02 FINALLY.
I loved the compilation, but I hate how little time the game gives you after you crash
doesn't matter how strong or in which angle you crash, the nose and the rear wing never break, thats ridiculous!
One more year and we don't see nothing about painting damage and Dents everywhere...what Happened Codemasters?
OS PILOTOS DA F1 ESTÁ FAZENDO TESTE DE DESTRUIR MECÂNICOS
Man i'm pissed of the damage should be more extensive for the front wing and tyres… even when you hit another car or they hit you they rarely get damaged…
Is this a Maldonado simulator?
Xdd
thank you youtube recommanded
I know its licensing, but I wish the crash damage had physics like "BeamNG"
Alex normal people do not own the game yet
I can tell already that Monaco is gonna be a big problem in Career mode lmao
Massa says: Oh uh why always me? :D
Let's Talk about the slowmo after a fatal crash. Totally nonsense, why stop a fatal crash sequence?!
a fatal crash is a crash with someone dying. thats fatal.
Because Codemasters suck. FunkyTurkey like GTA
Frontal crash at 400km/h - Tire falls off
So basically the nose, cage and tail are indestructible.
Pretty sure the carbon fibre gives punctures now aswell
the real question is: why not both?!
The fact that you can full on hit a rear tyre of the cars, your front tires come of like sponge but rear tyres stay in tacted like they made out of Minecraft enchanted Diamonds.
Logic Codies Logic.
Main body damage, finally!
the graphiks looks like the 2016 mobile game
Would it be OK if I upload one on Friday when I get the game
of course this is not my original idea haha
I hate the gray screen after something happened >.
the rotation of the have no effect when wheels comes together, it should catapult one of the cars into the air
