You doing ok Denny Delivers? I know this past weekend was a heart breaker. As much as I am not a fan of Hamlin and I didn't want him to win, seeing him come so close to redemption from what happened last year at Indy when he blew a tire with not many laps left and then being dumped by Briscoe when he was penalized for cutting the corner, (which I don't believe he should have been penalized for because the was second then Hamlin got back by him so he basically gave the position back after Allmendinger forced Hamlin into Briscoe causing him to go off track and had he went back in track immediately probably would have caused a wreck) was tough to watch. I can't imagine how you felt. Well I can a little, Martinsville 2017 was a heart breaker for me so I guess I can kinda relate. But hope you are doing well. I know it's been a bittersweet season up to this point, running so we'll almost every race but not being able to find victory lane.
AJ Allmendinger is the new Elliott Sadler. Sadler had a career turnaround when he went to Jr Motorsports. Allmendinger is having a turnaround season thanks to Kaulig Racing, only it looks like he can make a legitimate competitive return to the Cup Series.
Eh, Sadler never made it back to cup. I'd say most cup drivers who washed out would almost dominate the Xfinity or Truck series with good equipment. Their experience (and the fact they probably dominated the Xfinity series to get to the cup level in the first place) means they would have a tremendous advantage. If you put Allmendinger or Allgier in the 54 or 33 they would have twice as many wins as they do now. However, as most cup teams maintain their Xfinity series teams as a feeder system to develop drivers, they'd rather put talented young guys than washed out old guys in their cars. I'd say that Allmendinger would have a better chance at the cup series than Sadler did back in the day because Allmendinger never had a chance in good equipment once he had time to fully develop, as he moved over from open wheel. He was only in the Penske ride for half a season, other than that, he was in subpar equipment. In three of his four years at JTG, he finished 13, 22, and 22, which is very reasonable considering the equipment he was in and the fact that the other car then and both cars now have typically finished the season worse than that.
A.J. Allmendinger would make the 2021 Xfinity Series Championship 4, finishing 4th in the final points. His stats for what was amazingly his *first* full-time Xfinity Series season were: * 5 wins - Las Vegas, Mid-Ohio, Michigan, Bristol, Charlotte Roval * 18 top 5s * 22 top 10s * 5 poles - Darlington, Texas 1, Indy RC, Daytona 2, Texas 2 * 30 lead lap finishes * 422 laps led (leading at least 1 lap in 23 of the 33 races) * 9.2 average finish
With the addition of all the road courses + the rumored and likely chicago steet course the "road course ringers" have a good seat in NASCAR. Put him in a good team and I bet 7 of the races at least of the yeat he'll be right alongside Chase Elliott and Austin Cindric during those races
I started watching AJ when he was driving for RPM. I worked for one of the team sponsors. AJ was doing an appearance at one of our locations in southern Michigan. I was working the event and my dad was supposed to bring my kid to meet AJ and get an autograph. As always my dad was late, and wasn’t going to make it there before the end of the event. AJ found out and not only stayed after the event to meet my kid, but walked around with him and talked to him for an hour, by himself. He had absolutely no obligation to stay for 2 full hours after an event. But he did, on his own accord. That showed us how much character AJ has. He made a 9 year olds day! In fact, all these years later, my kid still talks about that day all the time. It was absolutely no surprise to us that AJ fought his way back to the top. I see many more top tens, top fives and wins in his future!
Hey! I got AJs raced version Watkins glen win autographed diecast! They only made 108 of them. I remember Mr.H, the Captain and the Cat in the Hat went to congratulate AJ in Victory Lane.
This is my dads favorite driver... He has been a fan since AJ was in the 43 car with Best Buy as his sponsor.... and we couldn't be happier right now... AJ is one a mission!!!!
Before this year, I thought AJ would go part-time for the rest of his career; he seemed to have a lot more fun that way. He still might, but with that team going full-time next season, he is probably a top candidate.
AJ has been one of my favorite characters since first coming to NASCAR. I used to call him my little titmouse (a bird for those of you who don't know what that is) with his perfect hair poof. My heart broke for AJ during the Penske deal. I believed him and apparently so did Roger. I am absolutely stoked about his success. And he's a perfect fit with Chris Rice and Matt Kaulig.
I thought AJ was gonna wind up on Fox to replace Jeff Gordon. Could you imagine AJ and Bowyer as the Fox team? Then he gets this win!!!! Even if the win was due to right place right time, he has shown consistent competitiveness in one off cup races. I hope Kaulig brings money and equipment next year with AJ in a full time ride. The man can wheel, nobody can argue that.
I know about Allmendiger since that I watch NASCAR in 2008 when he was in Red Bull Team. He is a talented driver who unfortunately circumstances have not favored him for his development, mainly after testing positive for substances when he was with Penske. Things would have been different were it not for that event, but it's good to know that he now has a good chance with an emerging team like Kaulig and that he can do good things.
Danny, I say Matt Kaulig should have A.J. in the black & white #16 car fulltime next year like he's an outlaw trying to steal an win & doing so from the big boys & their mega sponsors.

While I get that you are trying to develop a young driver with potential in Justin Haley, AJ Allmendinger would constantly perform better in the cup series next year than Haley. While Spire motorsports is hot garbage, Justin has still only finished in the top 23 in 1 race, last week at Indianapolis out of 19 races. Allmendinger has 3 top 7 finishes in 4 races with Kaulig. You can't really have two young drivers racing for your team unless you want to fix a crap ton of cars, consistently finish at the back of the field, and have zero chance at winning. Sure sponsors prefer young drivers, but they also don't like crappy results. If you're looking for a veteran driver, you have no better option than AJ Allmendinger; especially given their relationship.
Thanks for the context on his drug incident, I just thought he was similar to Almirola in showing promise, but getting kinda lowballed by team shenanigans (in Almirola's case, being forced out of his car so Denny could take the win and later getting stuck in the 43 car for over five years) But hell yeah I think AJ's got some serious potential ahead, although I will always smile at those promos of him chilling on his porch enjoying retirement and then saying, eh why not...why not indeed
Once again you have made an amazing video. I choked up a little was Brand picked up Dinger. Of the young buck NASCAR fan channels you remain my favorite. I don't get to watch as much anymore my job takes offshore for weeks at a time but when I do watch you always deliver.
Now..since he has won at the cup series with Kaulig… Could Allmendinger go full-time with Kaulig next year at the cup level?? They announced he would do part-time but could this win be the boost? 👀
His excitement from his wins is so contagious lol. Glad he's doing well, for sure. The great thing about more road course races is that road course racers now have more of a chance to win.
I’m super happy AJ Allmendinger got the win at Indy on Sunday. I was so shocked when he took the lead, questioning my self if this was really happening. I hope AJ keeps moving forward and gets at least one more win next season

NASCAR is morphing more and more into a series that'll play into the hands of a guy like AJ. Plus, Kaulig Racing seems to be competitive right out of the gate. It's not inconceivable to think that AJ could go full time Cup racing again AND consistently make the playoffs with so many opportunities for him to not only run well but potentially win.
Kaulig Racing is next big thing when it comes to race teams. They’ve had so much success and now they’re going for a championship at Phoenix! And they have Haley in the 16 and Grala and Allmendinger part time and Grala knows how to get good finishes and Aj can win.
I think we will see AJ allmendinger back up in the cup series in the near future we have started the 2022 season already I'm a little bit behind on this video but we have started it and it's going to be a good year especially with the Gen 7 I cannot wait to see it out on the track and it's going to be a good year
