      The fact that after 10 years of regular service they don’t know how correctly wear their underwear and to use their weapons is, that they never train to use them.
      They learn how to march up and down, take part in parades and perform circus like performances.
      There may be a hand full of capable soldiers in NK, but they are just there to protect their Deal Leader.

      As they havent'face an serious test in many years, why do think they are not their ''best'?
      Even in the Korean War the Western Troops had little regard for their skills or for the Chinese soldiers skills for that matter.
      The saying I have had them tell me when talking baout their experiences was *'It was just the numbers, one Chinese or Korean with a machine gun was not a problem, a thousand of them was. A few of them throwing a grenade was not dangerous, but hundreds of them caused us difficulties'*
      These were men of the 'Glorious Glosters'' who made a famous last stand on the Imjin River and many of them had suffered as POW's.

    Years back, I read "The Prince" by Nicolo Machiaveli.
    One of the things that he mentioned in his book was not to rely on foreign mercenaries when fighting a war.
    For one thing, you could never know how well trained the mercenaries were, and for another thing, you could never be entirely sure of their loyalty to your cause or willingness to fight.
    Maybe Putin should have heeded the advice of Nicolo Machiaveli.

    • @dgthe3
      @dgthe3 Час назад +5

      The willingness to fight will be variable, as is their training.
      But their loyalty to the cause is easy to sort out: mercenaries have none. They are loyal to coin. If you run out, or if someone offers more, you're outta luck.

    • @meisteremm
      @meisteremm Час назад +2

    Look at the Korean War. The North Koreans were initially successful because of surprise. They were then defeated in the territory of South Korea and the South Koreans and their allies pushed all the way up to the Yalu River. It was only the introduction of well over 1M Chinese troops that pushed the South Koreans back to the starting line.
    Military analysts tend to put a lot of stock in counting numbers of things, as opposed to training, leadership and quality of both men and materiel. The Ukraine War is just one more example of how misguided this is.

    • @Tzizenorec
      @Tzizenorec 8 минут назад

      That sounds like a close fight to me. North Koreans got a surprise attack and and advantage against just South Koreans (you have to be _almost_ as good as someone for surprise to save you), then South Koreans got allies and together they utterly crushed the North Koreans, then the North Koreans got allies too and the two sides' allies basically fought each other to a standstill?
      ...of course, one could argue that the North Koreans were better then than they are now. That might be the case; I wouldn't know.

    With a high turnover rate I think most of their guys are inexperienced... The hilarious thing is that the NK might be the most well trained but just lack MODERN training and field experience.

    So if the NK are as bad as recorded presumably they will possibly be relatively new recruits despite what has been stated by Russia and NK. Each is trying to gain from each other cheaply. What will happen to the NK at end of hostilities? They will hardly be welcomed back to talk of what they have seen. It all sounds a bit of a muddle as reported here. Time will tell.

    No those were farmers n kids basically he has 9 million troops to send n china has 130 billion ppl so imagine if they do a draft

    • @dgthe3
      @dgthe3 Час назад +2

      Yeah, no. There might be 9 million adult males in North Korea. But not every single one of them is a soldier. Few countries exceed 10% of their adult male population in military service, particularly in peace time.
      I'll be generous with you and assume you forgot a decimal point with China, as 130 billion is a bit higher than the estimated total number of humans that have ever lived. So at 1.3B, that is still a lot. But China is already trying to distance itself from Russia's war for fear of economic repercussions. They're not going to institute a draft to send men to Russia.
      Well, they might. But not to western Russia: to eastern Russia. Lands which China has historical claims to. And resources China would very much like to have. And has very minimal Russian military presence.
