- Train Runs between Amritsar railway station of Punjab and Atari Shyam Singh railway station of Punjab IND. Which was closed during the COVID-19, now it has been started again on 16 August 2022.
#Attari, also spelled Atari, is a village of #amritsar district in the #punjab state of India, 3 km from the Indo-Pakistani border at Wagah. It is situated 25 km west of the Sikh holy city of Amritsar, and is the last Indian station on the rail route connecting Lahore, Pakistan with the Indian capital Delhi. Attari village was the native village of Sardar Sham Singh Attari Wala, one of the generals in the #army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

i'm from Karachi but it breaks my heart that neither Pakistanis can go to India freely nor Indians can come to Pakistan freely.. 99% of both countries population havent seen each other people and country, i cant describe how i feel now.. i have many indian friends theyre so polite and humble.. Karachi and lahore would've been largest cities in India and very developed than they are now.. if partition didnt happen then kashmir issue wouldnt have existed ever.. i wish both govts make peace and love..

My Mama ji is from Chheharta. I have memories of this place. When I was child, my Nani used to travel by this train from Chheharta to Dharampur (native village of my Nani) and once I travelled with her on same route.
Fun fact is that this train was connected to one side border to other side border of Pakistan. One is Attari near Lahore and other is Dera Baba Nanak near Kartarpur Corridor. But later it was discontinued due to less crowd. Also famous Chheharta Sahib Gurudwara is just close to the Railway Station. My Nani served her entire life in the Gurudwara. Her duty was at Jal Ghar (serve water).
Very beautiful place. We should develop friendship with Pakistan and India we were once same country and should live like brothers or atleast neighbors like America and Canada.

I learnt that love between Amristar and Lahore people are good despite terrorists activities. Both side of the people must give importance to love of the land instead of hatracy. 1947 partition can be eraced from the history. However, train services between Amristar to Lahore vice versa can be revived for 2 to 3 days stay in each country with strict visa regulations and high security because both of the cities are important for punjabis. Hope one day it will be fulfilled due to important of both activities of Amritsar and Lahore.

I saw this video.Its an historical route ,many olden days memories lies in this route, especially before partition this route had its own significance,most of us has forgotten the importance of this line.It was vertebra of undivided India long before partition,but the question is that we are sooner or latter going to die but the attitude of present days has deprived people of both countries of seeing and travelling through this important route,I am going to be 60,but its sorry to say that hostile stance from both side not only deprived me but million s of people to travel across the carved out border,keep it up,we will see it in the life hereafter

Calcutta-Patna-Lucknow-Delhi-Lahore-Peshawar-Kabul road is called GT (Grand Trunk) road .
This route would have been vibrant economic lifeline of India if Partition had not taken place.
As an Indian, I feel Partition could have been avoided.
But, We can't predict now the mindset of the people in 1947 in hindsight
Now,
We have to accept the reality and both India & Pakistan should try to live like European Unions as a good neighbors.
