  • A lot of people talk about Structured Text and Ladder Logic so I thought I would make a quick video to explain both in a simple example.

Good video man, thank you for showing this.
So for sealing in ST, I'm guessing it would be written as 'If system_start Or system_active And Not system_stop Then system_active := 1 Else system_active := 0'?

Great Video Shane. I appreciate your videos .
So if I am understanding this correctly. The structured text as you have it written, will not act as a "Seal In" because of the Else System_Active :=0; thinking of System_Start as a momentary push button input which is why you would use the Seal in ladder logic in the first place. so you would have to hold the Push button down to keep System_Active true or 1 using the structured text. You would have to write an another IF statement to set the System_Active to false or 0. for the structured text for that logic to act as a seal in. Am I correct in my thinking?
I think this is where a lot of the new folks get confused, making that connection to the practical application.

You only need to add "OR SystemActive" after System_Start in the IF statement to make it work. Remember, AND is used for series, OR for parallel
