I have had this condition for a year and a half and I have put it off until now it has affected me to where I am in a stroke range. After a while because you’re able to takeoff the way.
@@StephanieLarrissa I didn’t go through with it the doctor was kinda rushing me, he never explains how life altering surgery can be and I had a really bad feeling about it. .I’m doing herbal tea’s to help with symptoms so that helps. Thanks for checking up on me
The other glands she is referring to are called Parathyroid Glands, they are not normally removed because it does control calcium in your blood. The Surgeons don't even touch these glands, even if you have thyroid cancer unless any of them are producing too much calctonins. The procedure for a thyroidectomy, including for Graves disease, these parathyroid glands are left intact, or not removed.
Thank you Arthur! Exactly! My surgeon informed me that there was a possibility that the glands could get damaged during the procedure and so I would need to be on calcium if that had happened.
@@StephanieLarrissa your welcome Stephanie, the main thing to remember is the first Surgery is the most important. I'm 59 years old and a U.S. Army vet hoping to make it to 60 in December, as I will have to have thyroid surgery soon because of malignancy in my thyroid. It's important to find a good Endocrine Surgeon because the first thyroid surgery is going to give you the best outcome. In my case I have a cancerous nodule & 1 of my parathyroid glands are involved, maybe the one hopefully closet to that diseased nodule. I wish you the best!
@@arthurmabeejr8752 Arthur I’m so sorry to hear about the challenges you are going through. I wish you all the best in return please keep me posted on things on your end sending well wishes and good vibes!!!

@@StephanieLarrissa OMG its a little better I have been taking supplements with my thyroid medication Dr Westin Childs has a youtube channel up here as well and he deals with specifically thyroid stuff and his products have been working well ..Its so hard lack of energy is a little better but This surgery is life changing as far as life style afterwards me personally I've never been this heavy in my life like I never had a weight problem I mean I was never skinny but I always been curvy but yeah if you don't have to get your thyroid removed I tell anybody don't do it
Thank you for the update.. just a little fyi the music whilst you're talking is a little off putting as it's hard to just focus on you.. glad you are well xx
This was also a point of concern they had with my gland and unfortunately there are no other choices but to partially or completely remove it. Hope your doing well keep me updated on what’s happening with your thyroid
thank you for sharing, It's been 3 months since my total thyroidectomy, my concern is that I don't have my period since after the surgery is this even normal?
This is normal because of the hormonal massive change. Please keep up with your medication doses as this can be a major factor. Let your doctor know ASAP so that they can check your hormone levels and regulate it. Don’t panic this can happen and is a symptom of hypothyroidism which is what you will be after a total thyroidectomy. Again Please be proactive and talk to your doctor as it is still fresh!
6 months after total thyroidectomy and 4 months after RAI when I am doing gym facing back pain problems and muscle tiredness and feeling weak when I work for more time if I stop doing exercises no problem everything normal. I have one question can I lead normal life for long time and stay fit give me some tips and can I do exercises every day. I am from India.
