Rodney was always the best character because of his flaws. I liked Carter from sg1 but she never really made mistakes and they made her kind of too perfect. Rodney was more human in my opinion.
I kinda disagree that Carter was too perfect. She did make mistakes on occasion, and she had a habit of being pretty closed-minded to things that couldn't be scientifically explained. She was stubborn and hard to convince she was wrong (partially because it didn't happen very often).

My guess is that he wasn't connecting with the audience. Everyone I know who has seen the show found him boring and forgettable, and some literally forgot he was even ON the show. My guess is they found out he wasn't compelling as a charcater, so they got rid of him to replace with Ronan.

I feel bad about Connor Trinneer and his role as a one dimensional wraith. After the well written and nuanced Trip in Enterprise. SGA was a real step down.
There's quite an amount of actors who reappear but with a different role, like SGC's Pallan (7x05) as SGA's Halling, SGC's Lt. Elliot as SGA's Keras (1x05)... SGU's Eli's mother has even multiple roles in SGC. :D
Also the new show being written will touch on the whole atlantis in San Francisco bay thing for the past 10 years and they will also give us an answer as too what happened to the crew of the destiny

yes was way to much of his "wraith" in this series, it wasn't a good character, and was in way to many episodes.
