Thank you so much for this tutorial! Most rain tutorial are for super realistic rain effects. I needed something cute and modern like this! Well explained too!
Thank you so much! I had the same experience when trying to find a "rain effects" tutorial - everything was realistic. I'm so glad you this was helpful!
Hi there! Glad you like the tutorial, but would love to get the loop problem figured out. A couple things to check: 1) Make sure there aren't any other spaces or letters or any other text with the looping expression. One character can break the whole thing. 2) Be sure to trim off any excess time on your layer before the keyframes. In other words, your layer should start when your keyframes do, and not before. 3) Make sure to select the correct looping expression. There are several and each has a different function. I hope that helps, but if not I'm happy to chat and troubleshoot more! Gus
Hi Augustus, thanks so much for coming back to me. I played about with it and finally realised I hadn't trimmed of the excess time before the key frames, like a chump. That's two hours of my life I won't get back. Thanks again for a great tutorial. All the best.
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm not positive, but I think what you are wanting to do with the expressions (linking them so you don't have to copy/paste/edit on each individual effect layer) can be done with a control layer, and then pickwhip the expression on each layer back to the control master. www.rocketstock.com/blog/using-expression-controllers-in-after-effects/
How did he get his setting in the timeline to look like that? I'm struggling to get my lines to shrink and move like his and I think that might be the issue.
Hi there! Not sure I'm reading this right, but do you mean scaling your view of your timeline? If so, you can either hold alt/option and scroll the mouse wheel while your mouse is hovering in the timeline, or you can use the + and - keys, OR you can use the little sliding scale with two little mountains in the bottom left corner of your timeline.
Thank you for sharing this! Really helped me a lot!
Sitting here in 2020 and trying to learn this stuff. You nailed it dude, great vid!
Thank you! Glad it made sense to you :)

You can put all the layers in a comp, trim comp, enable time remapping and put the loop expression on the time remap keyframe. Voila
Thank you

You probably could loopOut time remap after enabling it...

Augustus Hinton thank you!
Thanks :)
lmao this dude is hilarious 😂
FYI. That loopOut function didn't work for me. I solved it by simply replacing it with. loopOut()
Worked fine after that.
