  • I recently replaced the crappy OEM fans from my Mendota DXV 45 Fireplace. I used aftermarket fans from FireplaceBlowersOnline.com. These fans are much higher quality, assembled in the U.S. in Racine, Wisconsin. The fans use ball bearings on the shaft making them much quieter than the original fans. It took me about 45 minutes to replace the factory fans, most of that time was spent trying to reach the three nuts per fan that hold them in place. The new fans mount with Velcro strips and if I ever need to replace them again, it will only take about 5 minutes next time.

Thanks for the video. We have the same unit and I installed it in 2010, so about 8 years as well. Yours sounds just like mine right now. The web site is a good lead, thanks again.

Hiker Dude - The aftermarket fans I installed are still working great, much quieter than the original fans. Installation was a breeze as the old ones came out through the lower opening and the new ones go in the same way, but use no fasteners, only Velcro tape to hold them in place.

Dave, thank you my friend, I just called them and got the replacements. I spoke with Jason and he is going to be updating his website to cross reference these blowers as replacement parts for the DXV-45. Thanks again for posting!

I have two Mendota DXV 45 fireplaces in my house. The older one is close to 20 years old now and has never had a lick of trouble. The newer one, with the bad fans is only about 8 years old. The fans were replaced immediately after it was installed because they made al kinds of noise where the fan blades were rubbing on the housing (which I later figured out probably could have simply been adjusted to not rub). The fireplaces get used for about 8 hours a day November - April every year. I know Mendota changed fan vendors and had a lot of trouble with the fans about 8-9 years ago. I do not have the part numbers for the new fans, but I called them up and spoke with the owner and then just gave him my credit card number over the phone so I didn't get a digital copy of the order with the part numbers shown on it. FireplaceBlowersOnine.com probably has a record of what they shipped me. My name is Dave Strothmann, in Pine, Colorado and my order would have been placed December 9th or 10th, 2017, if that helps. I'm still very happy with the fans I bought from them.

BTW - The fans are the same Mendota Part Number in both my older and newer fireplaces. The Mendota Part Numbers for the fans are: Left Hand Blower = 15-02-00064 and the Right Hand Blower was Part Number = 15-02-00065, but if my memory serves me right, those numbers were not helpful to FireplaceBlowersOnline.com. I actually had to get the dimensions of my original blowers by measuring them with a tape measure. The new blowers were not 100% identical, but as you could see in the video, were very, very close.
