Bet you didn’t know that behind the scenes of the popular TV show, “Friends” there was a bit of drama! Did you know that Chandler’s awkwardness was real? Chandler has always been portrayed as being both sarcastic and incredibly awkward. It turns out though, that the role probably wasn’t too difficult for Matthew Perry because the show creators based much of Chandler’s character on Perry’s real-life personality. Did you know that Jennifer Aniston was almost replaced as Rachel? She says she was actually asked to stand apart from the others in cast photos, in case they ended up having to use another actress. “Muddling Through” was indeed cancelled however, and the rest is herstory.

All the fuzz was made about Jennifer Aniston’s hair. But Courtney Cox was the real hair model on the show. She’s had almost 3 or 4 different hairstyles each seasons.
I'd say Chandler was tbh. Especially in the early seasons he had a bunch of different hair styles and even colours.

@Keisha Millz oh please. Look at the list of nominees and winners around that time. It has less to do with actual talent and ability and more to do with popularity and "playing the game". Either she had enemies on the Emmys committee or she just wasn't kissing the right butts.
I loved how they sticked together for their salaries. And to me they were and are the only cast to actually deserve that much money.
I read somewhere it was because of Schwimmer, because he was offered the most money.

I think at the time, Courteney was making more money and when negotiations came around again, they agreed to all be the same so there wouldn't be any animosity. This all stems from the issues that surrounded Suzanne Somers and her asking for more money than John Ritter on Three's Company. They didn't want to have those issues. The Three's Company issue really set a precedence.

that one about the emmy is crazy i felt like Courtney was one of the best actors and i always saw the celebrity behind these characters but with her she was always monica!
I'm actually glad this was one on the list, because around half of the whole series, iv'e been noticing how Courtney/Monica's wardrobe are becoming more revealing, her boobs flashing almost every episode. I always wonder why this sudden change, i guess i'll settle for the "no Emmy nominations"

Very true.
Plus, Matt LeBlanc had almost no money in his bank account when he started working on Friends. If I were in his shoes, that's exactly what I'd do as well.

I pity Joey's character. He was supposed to be with Monica, and as the show progresses. The writers make him look dumber and clumsier and childish. Joey is the most kindest character in friends but yet he has to deal with a lot of relationship struggle. He was supposed to be with Monica, then the writers changed their mind. Even his best friend had a crush with his girlfriend Kathy. In season 9 Ross felt it was unfair for Joey to like Rachel, then Ross dated Charlie. In one of the seasons, joey had a perfect match Janine then Chandler and Monica ruined the pair just because she disliked them. Joey should have ended up with someone, it's sad how he's the only single one in the last episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S
And he was really into Kate, and she left. And Susan Sarandon's character, who left. And even kind of Kristin Davis's character--he at least wanted to keep seeing her, when she lost interest. For someone who's supposedly this awful womanizer who won't commit, he wanted to be in a relationship a surprising amount of times. And I agree he's the sweetest character when you really pay attention. Ross is an ass a lot, and he's supposed to be the sweet one.
Angela I mean it's sad that Joey was a flow, that show could have been a story for Joey relationship. And yes Ross was an ass, after season 1 he started to lose his naive and started being overly confident in every of his relationship, he could not take Time to slow down
Ross is one of the sweetest of the friends actually, far more than Rachel and Phoebe, he just screws up a lot in his relationships. Rachel was the clearly the most selfish, vindictive, bitchy, careless, manipulative, unkind, self-centred, callous one of the friends who always wanted people to do things for her but rarely went of her line to help someone and just cared about herself mostly. Queen Rachel does whatever she wants in Rachel land. She is the worst of them.
Joey's intelligence, or lack there of, was Mat LeBlanc's idea.
I admit I laughed at all of the dumb Joey/mimbo bits but tbh, if Joey came from a functioning family with 7 sisters, I'd doubt he'd be so promiscuous or unlucky in love. Js

Joey's arm was in a sling because Matt LeBlanc had actually broken his arm ( I forget how though ) so they wrote it into the show

Whatever was supposed to happen on set, everything fell into place perfectly. Creating one of the greatest shows of all time. And all 6 members of the cast deserved awards.

But it's probably one of the things that needed to be emphasized. Cause let's face it, that one fact probably helped prevent A LOT of potential issues. Think about it. One of your co-stars is making more than you and you feel a little underappreciated for your work as a result. Wouldn't it just be natural to demand an increase in pay? By effectively unionizing, they curb a lot of issues that may come up with each other because they know they're all getting paid the same amount instead of it being uneven.

Different categories. But it's criminal that Courtney never got nominated. Also, the years Lisa and Jennifer won their Emmys was when their characters were pregnant? If that's the qualification for a win, then Courtney should have at least gotten a nod for her deeply emotional portrayal during the adoption process.

Knew all of them already but #1 is probably the *most* well known, including how much they made in the final season! I remember at the time there were two sides: they were "brats" & just hungry for money vs. they were an *amazing* ensemble cast, each worked & contributed as much as the others and their characters were equally integral= they *deserved it*! (My POV ☺️❤️) Fun list, all the same... I could watch Friends' lists, docs, etc… all day long, lol.

I had no idea that Matthew Perry has very little memory of the first 6 seasons of friends, though I remember reading about his drug abuse. I also thought it was weird that none of the guys were invited to Jennifer and Justin Theroux's wedding.

The phrase "on a break" is very vague and yes Rachel has to accept that. But it does not necessarily mean they are not exclusive.

Well, she's focused on herself and her looks 90% of the time, and while yes Ross was a terrible boyfriend she wasn't much better (she was prepared to ruin his wedding by confessing her feelings and they actually WERE on a break (Hugh Laurie describes it well)), and after a while her voice becomes annoying.

Rachel is the worst, no wonder Rachel hating comments get the most likes and she's always last on polls.

And the dog in Chandler and Joey's apartment belonged to Aniston. The name Anastasakis has some connection with Aniston's family. Ross and Joey admitted to having a crush on Rachel during the original run of the show and I guess there are some more. Bet a true fan already knows this.
i LOVED the rachel/joey relationship but i also think it was good to show that two friends can end up liking each other but it’s not gonna always work out. it’s realistic. plus the part where rachel was like “why can chandler and monica do this?” and then joey said “maybe they’re not as good friends as we are.” literally breaks my heart everytime i hear it because you can sense that they really wanted the relationship to work out.
The average show since Friends has about 8-10 million views per episode for the most popular shows. Friends in seasons 8-10 had 20-30 million views per episode. That is insane!

Fun fact about Cheers: the character of Sam Malone was supposed to be a retired football player, but after Ted Danson was cast, they had to change him to a baseball player because he looked too lean to have ever played football.
