- Our old heap of a '69 Dodge Polara gets a bath and Elana puts the pedal to the metal. Insightful Polara background including a little know fact that Polara's can tackle Pismo Beach. Also some burnouts and a trip to the gas station.

18:55 Elana with the cute remark I made that guy drive through a bunch of smoke but that's ok he was coming from the weed place anyway 🤣🤣
It's true though, there's a big dispensary right near where we do our drives. - E
Early eighties, My Dad bought a '69 Dodge Monaco 4 door from one of his work buddies -- it was white, black vinyl top, 440 cubes. Ice cold A/C, all black interior-- smooth cruiser, you felt like you were rolling in a formal lounge with the black interior it was so encapsulating and quiet. Big, fast, and beautiful.ñ
That thing is a beast. The green paint has the perfect amount of patina
I’m not a mopar guy but that car rocks.
built in nineteen freakin sixty nine. and it chirps the tires through the transmission shifts effortlessly. NOW THATS IMPRESSIVE!!! I have driven one. they are a stunning to drive automobile.
Nice, original CA car with the 6 digit 60's plates. Back in the day my neighbor had a 2nd gen green LTD 2 door. You just don't see full-size coupe's anymore.
My first car was a 1972 Polara 4-door with a 360 and the factory trailer package. Damn, I miss that beautiful car.
Love the polara, I had a 70 Newport way back when gas was cheap. It was on the Ohio, Michigan line. 383, 727 boy was that car fun power sliding around in the snow.
The cut to the burnout after “hit it” was perfect! Love watching this channel, Elana’s way with words transfers well to RUclips!
Nothing like the smell of old Detroit steel.
I just found your channel via Speedway, and you are making me reminisce. My 2nd car that I bought in '77 was a '69 Plymouth VIP that was stolen in Livonia, Michigan and never recovered. Not as cool as a Monaco but close enough. Also, I spent 33 years in L.A., so I recognize your area. I used to 'patrol' in a Plymouth Fury. I just had to get out of Cali. Those gas prices are crazy. I remember in 78 when I drove my VIP from South Dakota to Detroit gas was .50. I thought this trip is going to cost a fortune. But like you I spent $100 to fill up my 64 Comet yesterday. Enjoy the cruise.
That car needs 2 things: a new turn signal cancel cam/spring set, and a set of those fender mounted turn signal indicators Chrysler Corp used to offer as an option, way out at the ends of the front fenders. Oh, and a headliner, so 3 things.
You guys are great together. Hilarious duo👍😂
They did use two door cop package cruisers different places around the USA , fun fact Buford Pusser and his wife were actually shot in a 67' 2 door Polara police package variety not like the movie which was a 72' 4 door Polara.
Definitely huge!!.. in really good original condition too!!
I think its a great car!
Finally!!! The video I've been waiting for! :)
I see this giant beauty is for sale. Love this car. I would add a cog belt Procharger and a headliner and drive it every day. Love your channel.
You have a 69’ Dodge Polara 440 and two Weiner dogs… All the things in life you need to be happy! 😉
That was pretty awesome. You should do a video of the different sounds a 60's and 70's Mopar starter makes, just for fun.
that was fun. they sure don't make them like they used to. My dad had a 67 Newport 383. we could put 4 in the front and 4 in the back till my brothers and I started really growing. LOL
One of my favorite cars in your fleet!!
Love youe Dodge, it's one of my favorites in your fleet. Hope to see you guys at the CPW Spring Fling this weekend. 😊😊
Thank you thank you thank you for the video I’ve been waiting for!
I love this car. I have been telling my fiance for a few years now that some day soon i want to own a giant car like that.
I remember that run at Tucson, impressive! I never knew the C Bodies had a different thumb wheel radio than the B and A bodies. I guess the designers thought it was a better way to tune a radio lol. Neat car!
I've always thought those thumb wheel radios were so cool looking.
I'm jealous. Not only of that great car but having a partner like Elana who is a total co-conspirator in the household automotive enthusiasm. The look on her face as she nails the throttle, and greases the tires across the intersection. Marvellous!
I know exactly what you mean. The 1969 Polara is really reliable. I drove mine (1969 2drht) to sweden (3000 mls) this summer. The 383 HP (4bbl) runs like it should.
My first car. Mine was blue on blue it had a 383 two barrel. I learned how to drive in it. Nice to see one
Love the look into the rear view mirror at end of burnout 😎
I love those Mopars!
C Body's and Gas Stations.. ( tow things that go together ).. Speaking of fuel.. I remember a video of Elana doing donuts and gasoline Pouring out the back . Got to love a Tom Built 440..Really pulls that big car right along.. Well done you guys.. See you at the Fling?
The Polara will be at the Fling - T
@@Challengeher have you guys ever made the trek out prior to covid to the mopars at Carlisle Pennsylvania by any chance?
flying into the Harrisburg pa area
Love the gas price sign in the background as your filling up the Polara. $5.87/gal for premium. Same reaction I get when I am filling up my 68 Coronet 440. It's amazing we are still driving 35 cent per gallon era cars in 5 dollar per gallon times.
A factory"Airtemp " Polara. NICE.
Brake boosters… no kidding! I gave up on parts store boosters years ago. I have sent two off to Booster Dewey for rebuilds (look up “booster Dewey exchange”, they’re in Washington state, I think). They work perfectly and have held up much better than parts store units.
Thanks for bringing back great memories. I learned to drive, waaaay back in the late 70s, in Dad's 69 Monaco w/440 Magnum. I love your writing btw.
You said that your power steering leaks. I remember having to constantly replace the gasket under the huge crown nut on the steering box. We ended up making them out of an old inner tube and replacing them once every two weeks lol.
I can tell you exactly what role that car filled compared to a modern vehicle. The modern equivalent is an extended cab, short box pickup, it just has a trunk lid on the bed, which many of those trucks have a tonneau cover. The loss of cars like this are the reason the roads are littered with fullsize V8 pickups with two rows of seats and short beds that get used like the trunk of a car. I adore that car, it would be cool to have 2 or 4 doors, I'm not picky. Might be neat to have a higher revving 400 based engine just to be a little different than a 440, maybe an overdrive and/or a lockup converter if that's possible in a Mopar auto that would bolt to a B/RB. I always wondered how a 440 with 3.23 gears could hit 149mph on the Chrysler proving grounds, must have been a very tall tire and still manage 0-60 in 6.3s, I guess all that trunk must have been good for traction. The wheelbase and long body must have made me it feel relatively stable at high speeds in a straight line. I love how those '69, '70, '71, '72 Polaras look, so ugly it looks mean and goes full circle to become cool. Especially considering the rarity these days of any fullsize Mopar. Thanks for sharing cool car.
I have a 68 Monaco 500 440Magnum 727 3:23Suregrip.... this is the lower model but still has the Delta signature taillights I love from the 60s C bodies
It reminds me of my moms old car, she had one of those and a wagon
The Polara is my favorite car in the fleet outside of the yellow truck.
Yellow truck for the win! - T
Elana I ride with you anytime. That's crazy man I like it. That little joyride cost about $50.00. 🇨🇱🏴☠️👏👍🏁
I love this car, it's my favorite that you guys own.
Awesome love the Polara, Great channel keep it coming.
Your videos are awsome, thank you!
Very cool car!
Great car , i have the 500 conv 440 version of it , and a 69 monaco coupe.....like them a lot!!
13:10 - the Highland Park hummingbird.
Years ago C&D described the steering feel as “you know the steering wheel is connected to the front wheels only because the law says it has to be.”
69 Polara Pursuit cars ran low 15's with these and with the 440's!
one of the best great roof too . top mopar mates .
Yeah that old Dodge will get up 😊
My favorite car you guys own 💚
Nice burnout 👍
Beautiful car
funny the dogs don't bother you when you wash the car....
Bad ass video yes!!!
I have the same Polara key ring!
The Polara needs the same treatment as the Suburban you made the Road Trip in for Hemmings ... over drive... fuel injection...
air conditioning ... update the interior ...
Was that classic dune buggy event the same one that Ian Russel attended for Full Custom Garage? I remember reading your article and latter seeing the show. Now every time I watch the show I look for the Polara in the background.
Ngl a lot of dodges muscle cars are underrated like the magnum and the polara
That one should of been able to light em up flat footing it from idle even with the sure grip
that turn signal clip under the steering wheel. thats an easy repair.
Sexxxy as fuck. Can me has it??? I wouldn''t mind trading my '71 Imperial coupe for one of those. It has the same exact roof!
Unreal it has 180,000 mi. Those cars barely lasted 80.000 in Maine.
Fairly unusual it has a black PAINTED roof. My '69 Electra was the same way.
Proper tire inflation it will do mid-13's I bet!
its not a coupe. Its a hardtop. :-)
Smoking good fun!!!
Gas almost $6 ...oh my god!!
Those gas prices at fill up. Boy howdy😵
i am wondering this. HHmmm? wonder what the diff ratio is
That's a in pol-a- ra. "A" not AH
Yummy iron
more reliable than the 5.9 cummins truck?
Unbelievably yes as our Cummins once exploded a transmission on the road and had to be towed. Thanks for watching! - T
Is Elana the perfect Mopar wife?
Personally I blame squirrels
The biggest, most ugliest car the '60s can think of..
Worst car washing skills and effort I've ever seen.
Sharon Stone trunk review...haha Sad how few of these big old cars survived.
