I just got into knives a few years ago. I have the Esee 4 strapped to my backpack, a Gerber StrongArm as my truck knife & a 3.5” custom fixed blade a friend made me as a backup. Absolutely LOVE fixed blades now. I EDC a Cold Steel American Lawman folder which has proven very worthy.
Nice brother me too and have a real problem now lol! But definitely get a srk shit both in sk5 are under $100 easily! They're one my favs especially the 3v I just got! Cold steel makes great knives but so do a lot companies check out condor or Ontario if you can still find any they're under $100 and solid
I always carry 3 knifes on me, I have many. The ones I choose depends on what I’m doing for the day. You have some really good knifes. I like the ESEE 7 and the SRK. For a smaller knife I carry the ESEE camp lore, looks somewhat like a Izula but larger. I really like machetes too.
Hey Jason, have you ever thought about taking a class from Randall Adventure and Training? I took the advanced bushcraft class last December and it was a lot of fun. I would ditch the Esee 4 and pick up an RB3 or a JG5. I always carry a small saw to.
Love the izula. Still have 4 of them. Will never get rid if them. But I prefer to carry my broken compass knives minute man or the bradford guardian 3. Izula is amazing though
Over the years my knives have gotten smaller. My favorite EDC and hunting knife is the Izula in S35vn. If I am backpacking in Ill bring my Esee PR 4 as my overall camp knife and I love that thing. I found the handle to blade ratio was not good on the 4 so the 4 is my ranch knife and the 6 is great but its just too big. The SRK was my first actual knife I used for the S and R team I was in years ago. Great knife. Just .... be careful around heat... I laid it down for less than 5 seconds near a generator motor and the handle melted right into it.
All fantastic knives. What I like most abou the SRK is how super light weight it is. And for a knife I hope to never use out in the field its perfect. reliable enough if I need it but light enough I will carry it.
I love the PR4. It's thin profile handle feels so good in my hand, and I find it helps me hold a cutting angle. The straight 1095 sharpens up easily. It also rides on my belt nicely when outdoors. I usually pair it with a Morakniv Mora2000 when I'm camping.
Jason, for the ESEE 4 or any 1095 blade steel that will easily corrode, what oil or substance do you use and carry to coat that blade that will both prevent corrosion and not create a scent that could spook deer or bears?
@@tradbowpodcast Ok, thanks. I saw that you patina the blade, but wasn't sure if the patina would protect the cutting edge / bevel after honing or touching up the edge.
Love 1095! Its my favorite steel. And also what I carry every day. In the woods hunting I dont need a knife daily like i do edc. And the cmp3v is so close to a 1095 in my opinion.

Yep love the fixed blades too! Easy to clean, tough as nails, wont close on you or loosen up. Love fixed blades.

That would be a great class to take! The esee 4 in still one of my all time favorites and perfect do it all knife for me.
Yes sir srk is my fav but the compact is perfect and you can beat on it and it's light!
Sure is amazing especially for the price and strength
@@tradbowpodcast yes sir I had to get the regular srk in 3v cuz it was on sale but holy smokes it's bad
Im gonna buy one in 3v too. Keep watching for the next sale.@@phila1714
Thanks for your videos…What about the Esee Izula II? You use to like it very much?…
Love the izula. Still have 4 of them. Will never get rid if them. But I prefer to carry my broken compass knives minute man or the bradford guardian 3. Izula is amazing though
No skining knife in hunt gear🤔

I patina all my 1095 knives. with a vinegar patina. never worry about rust that way.

I just carry a knife custom buck 113 rope and compass. And a ton of snacks. Lol
Thats perfect.
👍👍👍👍👍
I continue to just carry a Buck 110, been using the same one since the mid 70’s
Great knife and proven.
Like ammo, you can never have too much. Along with my knives, I also carry a folding hand saw in my pack.
Yep always have a saw as well
If you don’t mind, why have you veered away from 1095? Never thought I’d hear that from you.

You know you can get the SRK-C at midway in 3v for like $89
It's a amazing deal. For my favorite blade.
Yep very true. And if I was planning to use this knife much I would of. But I hope to never tough this knife. Just carry it
God bless THEE ESEE
Love em
