Let's hope there will be no casualties. In Poland, martial law was from December 13, 1981 to July 22, 1983 and unfortunately there were casualties. I hope it will end quickly in South Korea. Let us pray for peace and security.

Hello from east Asia; been here 4 decades. The US is responsible for this. Yoon is illigitimate and was installed by US/CIA. Most koreans hate him and US too (and japan).
The declaration was opposed by the Democratic Party and some members of Yoon's People Power Party, and resulted in protests. Two hours later, on 4 Dec. despite attempts by security forces to prevent the vote, those MPs present in the National Assembly unanimously passed a motion to lift martial law 190-0. Yoon subsequently lifted martial law after a Cabinet meeting and the martial law command was disbanded. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol backed down on his declaration of martial law but the tumultuous six hours recalled the country’s dark pre-democracy period. Yoon subsequently lifted martial law after a Cabinet meeting and the martial law command was disbanded. he has been mired in several corruption scandals this year - including one involving the First Lady accepting a Dior bag, and another around stock manipulation. Just last month he was forced to issue an apology on national TV, saying he was setting up an office overseeing the First Lady's duties. But he rejected a wider investigation, which opposition parties had been calling for. Then this week, the opposition proposed slashing a major government budget bill - which cannot be vetoed. At the same time, the opposition moved to impeach cabinet members and several top prosecutors including the head of the government's audit agency for failing to investigate Yoon's First Lady.
Personally, I am neutral, and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is a president with a relatively weak foundation, partly due to the significant political power of the opposition party. Previous first ladies and presidential families have also faced corruption allegations, but because the president and the ruling party were strong, they were able to suppress those suspicions to some extent. However, Yoon might end up being impeached. If the left gains power again, I wonder what kind of impact it will bring... Every time a right-wing president is elected, they end up being impeached, and that worries me.
Conservative people POV: a significant number of people also support President Yoon's decision to enact martial law-not because it was justified, but because it was entirely legal and within the president's authority when he deems it necessary. Once people understood that the primary purpose of the martial law was to investigate what really happened during the April election by accessing the Central Election Office, the public's reaction became much more understandable. Additionally, there is overwhelming disapproval of the Liberal Party leader due to his numerous scandals.
It's a non-issue. Just normal crazy Korean politics. Roh Tae-woo: arrested and jailed Kim Young-sam: IMF crisis Kim Dae-jung: mostly normal politics Roh Moo-hyun: committed suicide post-presidency Lee Myung-bak: arrested and jailed Park Geun-hye: arrested and jailed
not korean but the south korean president declared martial law because he said that it was to respond to communist north korean forces. (it's mostly to protect his place of president but he uses a pretext). he did all of that without a vote. So now the army have all the executive power so they can control tv , stop manifestation and u cant stop working all of ur freedom u got from a democratic country are gone (sorry for my grammar i'm not english, hope u understood a little more).
President yoon called for martial law with little to no reason and attempted to shut down congress with military but for one reason or another soldier guariding the front gate of congress dispersed and 190 parliment members ended up voting to end martial law unanimously including Yoon's party members and it seems everything has been descalating since. To put into context from end of yoon's matial law speach and congress voting to stop it took 2 hours and 10 minutes approximately.

This show that the people want peace and they see the western proxy war in Ukraine for what it is. The Koreans are showing they want no part in it. I'm sure they were mobilizing on pentagon orders to help with NK and their cooperation in the Ukraine war. We must pray, and show love.

Probably not, since there's isn't any proof so far and some past South Korea leaders who had been impeached had a history of using North Korea as an excuse to pull something similar to this
