      Only thing I can tell you after watching your videos is to take more time with finer grit sand paper to get a more polished look on some of your pieces

      I like your objects but something bother me, it's about the quantity of wood and resin left after turning the lathe...is there not a way to reduce the loss ? It seems that you use 1L of resin for just a micro insertion between two huge pieces of wood, to make a small ring... resin is not recyclable and polluting and the wood you are using is quite rare (amarante), and lots of forest are detroyed for nothing (I insure you that I'm not vegan or ecologist fanatic or whatever hater etc)
      Thanks for your effort, I hope :)

    Thank you for being a sensible turner. You cut the square down to a octagon to save effort. It makes me a bit mental watching people turn more than they have to.

    Yikes! Beautiful ring but you could of made 8 rings out of that much wood! Also was the wood stabilized?

    • @MindToMade
      @MindToMade  4 года назад +2

      I saved some cut offs for others 👍 This wood was not stabilized but it was a very dry hardwood.

    Interesting video and channel! Why do you use pressure vs vacuum to off-gas the epoxy? I see this often so i know i am missing something.

    • @MindToMade
      @MindToMade  4 года назад

      I actually don't have a vacuum chamber yet so pressure was my only option. Vacuum is usually for degassing molds like silicone so they do not have voids when casting in them. Pressure is used for resin casting to make the sure the epoxy gets into all the voids and compresses the bubbles to microscopic levels.

    Could you inform me of what the pot you set the resin and purple heart wood in for 18hrs? And the purpose please?

    • @MindToMade
      @MindToMade  4 года назад +1

      Pressure pot conversion from a paint pot. Used to compress the epoxy into all the small gaps and also reduce bubbles
