This reminds me of when my ex and I started hanging out two summers ago. We were friends/best friends beforehand, and during summer was when we began developing feelings for each other. He was my first boyfriend and we were 17 at the time.
I would “sneak out” and we would go to the park, play tennis, go to a restaurant, etc. I’ve never really been out before so my parents would worry and get mad at me for leaving the house. But I continued to do it anyway, hahaha I mean we literally weren’t doing anything wrong. Eventually we began officially dating, they met him and didn’t care if I went out anymore.
We broke up in July because of “long distance” and differences. We’re friends again, but not really. It’s very complicated haha. I’ve always loved this song because it brings back those summer memories where it was just us spending time together and he would always want to talk/see me. Those times were simpler, and the best.
Edit: Whoa, thanks for all the thumbs ups and comments! Just FYI, I didn’t post this comment to dwell on my past relationship. In other words, I’m not miserable, and I do not want to get back together with my ex lol! I simply just wanted to share the memories/feelings that are associated when I listen to this song! Thanks again for all the nice feedback :)

Don’t get me wrong…I’m not old. Only 32 this year, but I’m old enough to have lived beyond my “invincible years.” This song takes you back to a time when we can all remember living fast, free, and kinda recklessly. (Maybe a whole lot reckless for some.) A time when we were young and never thought about tomorrow, much less “the future.” With a wonderful wife, and 2 young kids of my own, I’m happy with where my life is, and I’m glad those years are behind me…But damn it’s nice to have certain songs that remind you that at one time, you lived them.

Every time I listen to this.. oh boy there’s me, in my room, writing this while in tears. I’m now 17 year old, I’ve been kidnapped on my 3rd both of my parents have drug problems I went to 20-25 foster family’s, and when I was 13 I was in juvi, with a radio in the wall, with 3 radio channels.. and I came by this song, not the end of my story though.. I’ve been in multiple foster fam after and soon I’ll move to my own place, doing my own thing, my job, my friends… this is just so much nostalgia.. thanks.

I'd rather just not love anybody to not get hurt, even if they dont lie or hurt you, they are gonna die someday and you'll be devastated, unless you die first they will either be devastated or not care, there is no in between, either way someone is gonna get hurt, and I dont want that, to get my Hope's up for them to just leave me, I may change my mind someday but at the moment love isnt real🤷🏻♀️

this song really hits different when your blasting it in the car with with your best friend on your way to whatever fun plans you had planned that day. care free, windows down, straight up vibing with out giving a crap. winds blowing in your hair as you stare out the window through your tinted sunglasses at the other cars on the road and the blue sky with fluffy clouds, along with the horizon being covered with green healthy trees that go on for miles. you pass through cities and stare out at the people walking down the street going in and out of the little shops in the connected buildings. the day is perfect ☀️
