      bottle2lip no he definitely is a serial killer , if you kill a person prior 30 days and then kill some later and it needs to be more the 3 so generally he is a serial killer.

      He was a serial killer he killed 12 people males included and all it makes you being a serial killer is that he had time in between the killings to kill again it's all it makes you to be a serial killer

      ''looks bad for police''
      More often than not, whenever you hear of a cold case in which a crime went unsolved it is because a cop committed it and suppressed evidence. At the same time very often when a person was wrongfully convicted of a crime it is because cops suppressed or manufactured evidence or because they forced someone to confess to a crime they never committed. Cops are among the most corrupt forces in society. As Frank Serpico said many years ago, it is corrupt NYC cops who control the drug trade in that city. Without the cops there would be no drugs on the streets. For far too long, too many people have put their trust in the police even though those corrupt cops are the ones who spread drugs leading to many crimes, and they promote racial injustices which cause social division. In the USA we need reform, and I mean MAJOR reform, to change this sad but true fact.

      He was only a cop for s short period of time (twice I believe, each period only lasting three years) and was fired for stealing from his last law enforcement position (1979). There was no such thing as DNA testing back then. Stop maligning the policemen/women who honestly and professionally perform their duties on a day-to-day basis.

      I watch a lot of forensic shows and there's a lot of cops who kill and rape. Male and female. They think they can hide behind that badge and do whatever they want. It's a shame because naturally we want to trust the police. They're supposed to protect and serve. So you can see why a lot of people don't trust them. Speaking of those shows, the ID channel is airing a show Friday night called, The Golden State killer, CAUGHT! At 10 pm EST. I'm wondering how much info they'll share!?

      everyone needs to repent (stop sinning) and have a personal relationship with God. ask God to forgive u for ur sins. "good" ppl dnt go to heaven. we're all sinners on our way to hell if u dont ask God to forgive u, turn away from ur sins and place ur trust and faith in Jesus. its time to start serving God and stop serving the devil. money is of the devil. Do u kno where ull go after u die? heaven or hell. its ur choice. theres only 1 way to heaven and thats through Jesus Christ. Jesus took the punishment for u on the cross so that u wont have to go to hell for ur own sins. read ur bible starting in the new testament in the book of John. hell is real. only a few ppl make it to heaven. mostly everyone goes to hell. do u kno Jesus personally? does Jesus kno u? or will he tell u i never knew u, depart from me u evil doer into everlasting fire! please turn to Jesus now that there is time. tomorrow could be ur last day on earth. CHOOSE JESUS. HES THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN. only ppl with the Holy Spirit inside of them and whose sins are washed by the BLOOD OF JESUS can enter heaven. all others wont make it to heaven. theyll be cast into the lake of fire

      I will tell you one thing they keep it in the public eye for a while because he was a prolific serial killer and let’s admit he was the worst in California’s
      History he never blipped off the radar
      So he was still on a lot of investigators minds even 40 years later.What I think is somebody had a hunch it was him by the way he acted because he used to shout expletives at his wife his children and the neighbors kind of had an idea it might’ve been him. So some genius took his disgaurded DNA (could of been anything) and compared it to DNA they had on profile and boom a match.

One report says that at a community meeting a local resident had stood up and expressed reservation about how one man could overtake two individuals in the way police had claimed he did when this unknown was killing couples. Just three weeks later that same person who questioned police at that community meeting, and his wife, became victims of this serial murderer. Which means this DeAngelo was at that meeting and targeted that local resident for questioning how he was able to overtake two people at once. Scary, this whole case.

    I can't help wondering how many of his peers on the force had suspicions but gave him the benefit of the doubt simply because he was one of them. Especially when he was arrested for trying to steal dog repellent and a hammer after detectives stated that they wondered why dogs hadn't opposed him and the victims described him as having a peculiar stench. I wonder if anyone will ever admit that they thought it was him but chose to ignore their instincts because they put loyalty to the uniform above public safety. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that happened.

The only reason he first got off so lightly - just 6 months - was because he was a cop. This time the caller said he wanted to talk to Simon. I asked him who is calling. He claimed that he called from the police association. I asked him the purpose of his call. Then he remained silent and did not say anything as I was saying "Hello. hello, hello...".So I made a statement saying" This is phone harassment. I don't care who you are. Phone harassment is illegal." before I hung up the phone.
      From the tone of the voice, the man did sound like a cop. I hope he was not stupid enough to harass me with the phone because of my comment scathing the officials in charge of the sheriff's and the police department when the monster cop was able to rape and murder undetected.

      No he just never came up. They interviewed some other cops and highway patrolmen as potential suspects but DeAngelo was a cop during the Visalia Ransacker and East Area Rapist crimes but not for the majority of the 13 murders by which point he had been fired. He worked in a different jurisdiction and those cops had nothing to do with the investigations. Also communication was much less common in those days, no Internet, no mobile phones and even short distance phone calls by todays standards were considered long distance.

      Daniel L Well getting discarded DNA isn’t difficult at all. They would just have to wait for him to throw out his trash. A wad of gum, a paper cup, an envelope that he licked... after it has been placed outside it becomes anyone’s property and the police have an absolute right to dig through it if they felt the need.

    • @apple4tammy
      @apple4tammy 6 лет назад +8

      I just wrote this above as well, but what triggered it appears to be: What I've heard is they had found familial DNA (through something like Ancestry DNA or 23 and Me maybe?) with enough similar markers that it pointed to a group of potential suspects. This led them to look into this guy and when they got his DNA, it was confirmed! They said it was a needle in a haystack, so someone was looking at DNA that was gathered in databases from the type of sites mentioned just hoping it would lead somewhere, nd it did. :) This is just what I've heard- it's not 100%.

    • @daniell8993
      @daniell8993 6 лет назад +7

      I know how to extract the DNA... but it's HOW they pin point on the guy they are extracting the DNA from?? it's not like the police just randomly picking up gum, coffee cup and cigarette butt on the street.... the police must have a reason to wait for DeAngelo to discard his DNA.
      Like I said from before...... US bureaucracy don't do unnecessary work for no reasons.

      They found duplicate rape kits, which allowed for more DNA testing (some had already been done, but they needed more). They put the info into a public DNA database and found matches to 3rd cousins. Then, a forensic ancestral researcher worked backwards to find the common great-grandparents. Then, they worked forwards to find ancestors living in California. They had 9 suspects, but from DNA they knew eye and hair color, so they ran it through the California DMV and he is the only one of the 9 who popped.
      They began surveillance and dug into his background. He had an ex named Bonnie (a name which he had shouted during one attack), a service record in the Navy (the women were tied using a diamond knot- something sailors would know) and a brief history in law enforcement. So, they followed him, swabbed his car door handle for dna and got the match.
      The full story is quite fascinating. But also shows just how futile their efforts were earlier on before DNA profiling.

    • @nutyyyy
      @nutyyyy 3 года назад

      @@jccaine7522 They actually investigated several of the 9 suspects. DeAngelo was not the first of those 9 that they focused on since it was thought he was too old to have been the killer. It was the prevailing theory among investigators and online sleuths that he was up to 10 years younger than he actually turned out to be. He was very good at throwing off the investigation with redherrings and had a baby face and high pitched voice.

And they got a hit once the cousin did the DNA check. There was a lot of DNA evidence from all his crimes. He didn't work with the department that investigated the cases since he never committed any crimes where he worked, at least not any rapes or murders. The cops locally would have little info about the serial rapist in a neighbouring city and so had no reason to suspect anyone. This guy was a chameleon as many psychopaths are.

    • @karenh2890
      @karenh2890 6 лет назад +4

      ShadowDrift It's as much justice as the victims' families can get at this point. It is way better than never finding him. I really don't get these comments. Family members who have spoken are filled with emotion. They are very happy he is in custody. If you had a family member raped and murdered by someone who was never caught, wouldn't you be looking over your shoulder wondering who the murderer was, did they live nearby, would they attack someone else in the family? It's wonderful that he has been found and arrested.

    Wait..can someone explain to me why they keep saying he was never a suspect or a name that came up but they decided to survey him? How'd they know that they should check him? The only way I can think of is they had his DNA already, matched it to crime scene and then what? Checked his DNA again thru something he presumably ate, or smokes or drank? I'm a little confused.

    • @macgregorwiggins1285
      @macgregorwiggins1285 6 лет назад +2

      Yunus Ibrahim, some of his relatives submitted their DNA to a company that tells you about your ancestors and can put you in touch with lost relatives who have close DNA. Police had this guy's DNA from crime scenes. They submitted it to the same ancestry DNA company and it matched his family members' DNA, so police knew to look at their relatives. He came to police notice because he is related to those people. Then they got some of his discarded DNA, maybe from a cup, cigarette, chewing gum etc., and tested it. Police said they had surveilled him for 5 days. It's perfectly legal.

      ... there are millions of potential suspects. They haven't found countless other serial killers because unless a suspicious looking dude happens to live and work right where the crimes were committed or you catch him in the act then its very hard to narrow it down. He didn't live where he committed the crimes, though he later moved there. He was a cop in a different jurisdiction.

    These cops knew or had some idea it was him. They just didn’t want to believe it. I’d bet my last dollar he was a suspect. If he was never a suspect why are they collecting his DNA, it makes no sense. They are excited about something they already knew. What made them suddenly look at him? Who told it?

    • @HeavyJ713
      @HeavyJ713 5 лет назад

      They had his DNA from some of the murders According to Paul Holes he uploaded some of that DNA and created a profile on an ancestry DNA site. They got a hit from one of DeAngelo a distant relatives. They used a geneologist to trace the family members lineage and then came across DeAngelo. They found out he was a Po-Po for some police department so using various records they were able to determine his location durrimg the various crime sprees.

      Wecan Watersports You can't say for sure that those people would be alive today. It would be nice if they were, but unfortunately this guy rolled up on them and shot them. They didn't even have a chance. A few years ago there was a woman in my state who carried a gun, openly. She even wore it to her kids soccer games and you could see her gun on her hip. A lot of people raised hell about it but she had a license to carry. A few months later someone rolled up on her and shot her, dead. Her gun couldn't save her.
