The Acesonic USA AM-898 is designed to work as a stand-alone device, inputting the mics directly. Using the Mackie mixer for the mic inputs is not desirable although sending line level signal into the amplifier from the mixer is fine. You are correct. This mixer mixes down all inputs to a stereo buss via USB for input to your DAW. So if I am reading the information above correct, if I plug this into my IMac for garageband or logic pro, I can only get two different inputs for recording. I was hoping to find an affordable board that could provide a separate input into garageband for each instrument or mic plugged into the board. Check levels and adjust the input gain accordingly. Channel faders and main faders should set near "U". Although this product offers USB connectivity it will only send a 2 -track stereo signal via USB. It also does not offer MID I/O nor will it work seamlessly with a DAW.
