I am VERY aware of that; Super Mario Land is one of my favorite handheld games.
But this is monumental in the fact that she’s finally PLAYABLE and I couldn’t be happier.

I feel like I'm one of the few people who had a postive reaction to Elephant Mario. I thought he looked adorable and chonky, especially with how great the new artstyle is. He's had animal suits since Mario 3, and sure actually becoming one is new, but I think it suits the weirder side that this game is trying go for with the wonder flower making everything change.
I'm not even sure what the problem is. Mario turned into a fucking cat in the movie and 3d world but for some reason THIS is where people draw the line.

I could be wrong, but I think this is the first time Daisy is playable in an actual Mario platformer.
She was playable in Super Mario Run, the 2016 mobile game, but this is the first time she'll be playable on a console platformer.

Elephant Mario is goofy I love it. Its just silly and fits Mario artstyle and series a lot surprisigly.

Being an Mario fan is the best thing ever happen to me. We're getting an Super Mario RPG remake, an new Princess Peach game, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon getting remastered and now an brand new mainline Mario game. An new 2D Mario game at that.

I love how almost everyone immediately picked up on the new artstyle. The wacky level mix-ups, Daisy being playable, and that elephant power-up; there's just so much in this trailer to go nuts over.
Oh hey, here something else to make note of. There's a leaker named "Zippo" who actually alluded to this game in August of 2022. They didn't completely know what it was, the only things they were told of was the following:
-A new 2D Mario developed by Nintendo EPD
-It will be it's own thing. The "New Super" moniker is being thankfully retired.
-It will feature a new art style that will take some people by surprise.
-It's "very far" along in development. Might be completed soon.
-Online multiplayer will be included.
-Will feature the return of Foreman Spike.
-Will release during the 2023/2024 fiscal year.
Well, at least 4 out of those things are right, might be worth keeping this stuff in mind when following this game...

Finally a 2D Mario game that has ACTUAL character, and it's not even a month after Sonic Superstars got revealed at the Summer Game Fest! The game is so weird but I LOVE IT! It's a shame that this is likely the end of the Charles Martinet era, though, but it's not confirmed.

After so long, after 4 'New' Super Mario Bros games released with Mario Bros U. being the last original 2d mario game after 10 years, finally a new and original 2d mario game that isnt 'New', concluding the 'New' Super Mario Bros saga (And how long its been since we saw the super mario bros title by itself). Finally we get something new and original that isnt just another port of a previous game (plus the fact this is the first 2d mario game since Mario Bros 2 that Peach is a playable character and not being a character to save), this is the year for mario fans, the year mario fans been waiting for, alongside Mario RPG Remake, hopefully in the future theres more original 2d mario games like Wonder.
