No. The crop marks are added outside of the trim area. So if you set up the file correctly the crop marks are trimmed away when your piece is trimmed to A4.
@@pieterprincee5807 if you are adding crop marks you need to add bleed. The amount of bleed will be specified by the print company you are using. I normally set a bleed size of 3mm to each side. Before trimming, my page size would be 216mm wide by 303mm high and after it is trimmed it will be 210mm wide by 297mm High (A4). Here is a video about bleed: ruclips.net/video/ZuNrmgv8rjQ/видео.html
I don't ever export artwork for printing from Photoshop, so I am unsure if you can save out as a PDF. If not, you would probably have to manually place cropmarks on your Photoshop artboards.
Sir, Can you make a detailed video explaining bleed, trim & crop marks with example.Like demonstrated with document size and printing paper size and all.
Hey there, My videos are aimed more at giving business owners a grasp of the design basics. I may do a more detailed video in future but I couldn't say when that would be.
Hello i really enjoyed you video! So just to make sure i understand correctly, If i want to print a design on a A5 size paper, will the size of the document with crop marks have to be bigger than A5 ? Like 6mm wider and taller if the crop marks are supposed to be 3mm ? Thank you for your time :)
Hey Benjamin. Yes. Your artboard would be A5 with any artwork you want to be right up to the edge of the final trimmed document going past the document bounds by at least 3mm. When you export the artwork, your software will add the bleed amount (and crop marks if selected). If your software doesn't allow you to apply bleed and crop marks on export. Then you would set your artboard up to be A5 + 3mm each side. So that would be an artboard size of 154mm wide x 216mm high. Hope that makes sense :)
Hi! Again me, a lot of questions, what can I do :) I'm exploring envelope design and gathering information from 1000 sources. If I'm correct I have 2 options, to print fully custom envelopes (expensive) or to print my design on the stock envelopes. A client can buy stock envelopes in different colors. Am I right? What if a client needs a special color? Is it possible to add design to the stock envelope back/flap? As I see a lot of colored flaps around. thanks
Hey mate, You can print on any part of the envelope, but as you have discovered the more bespoke you get, the more expensive it is likely to be. Some printers will have the ability to print on the envelope flap, others will not. yes, you can buy envelopes in stock colours. If a client needs a specific colour then again, you are probably in the realm of bespoke printing / Pantone colour.
how interesting is, that a little envelope can be such a huge theme. I'm fascinated with the complexity of the stuff designer could know if one wants to. It's great to learn and to have someone to ask for! I see that you have every answer in your sleeves :) Thanks man!
HI Benjamin! So I created a piece of artwork in canva and chose crop mark and bleed. When I picked my printed art work up from the printer (walmart in this case), the crop marks were on the 4 corners and I had a white line all the way around. Which is what I saw on the PDF 300 DPI file before printing. Soo---- was my print place supposed to actually trim using those crop markers before they gave me my art work? Or am I to always expect to see these crop marks on all my art prints? Maybe my print shop expects me to trim it myself? Do you know? Thank you for your time.
Will mine A4 document get smaller when using crop marks when printing?
No. The crop marks are added outside of the trim area. So if you set up the file correctly the crop marks are trimmed away when your piece is trimmed to A4.
@@RockYourBrand outside? Than it will be bigger than normal A4? Crop Mark lines are the exact place of a A4? Or is it just 0,01 outside? 😊

Does this work for decal printing using illustrator and finishing in photoshop ?

Great video.
Cheers Stefan. Thanks for watching :)
perhaps actually show examples
I do show an example at the 1:24 mark, but I maybe could have shown examples from other types of documents.
Thanks for the feedback :)
