Tony Baker deserves so much more popularity than he gets. He’s funny, talented, a great person, and he needs to be in movies, tv shows, national stand ups. He deserves to blow up.
Robert Pattinson was walking around, giving thugs concrete naps, to anyone who wanted it. #TheBatman is a dope movie experience; watch it in IMAX if you can.
I actually thought this was the best depiction of Batman so far, the way he would stare at people without saying anything, how he fought, and the way he would solved crimes and riddles. The way criminals would look down a dark alley and be afraid of the shadows, not even knowing if Batman was lurking there, I thought was a great aspect of the movie.
Didn’t care for Pattinson as Bruce Wayne but his look and the way he acted fit the context of the movie. At the end of movie how everything came back full circle I think he realized his mistakes and will try to be a better Bruce in the sequels. Love how sloppy Batman kind of was in this as well. Very fitting, Reeves did a hell of a job bringing the characters and Gotham to life.
I think you're on point regarding what you said about Pattinson as he was playing Bruce Wayne. This Bruce Wayne wasn't supposed to have the same swagger as Affleck nor Keaton nor any of the others. He was supposed to be a sleep-deprived social recluse who was trying to find his balance between being the Batman and being Bruce and that was how RP portrayed him.
I can't wait for the next one. Agreed with you on the fight scenes. I hope the next one they implement Bruce's ability to throw more gadgets and decisiveness into the fights like he does in any of the animated versions.
The only movie review that matters. Your comedy has saved my life Tony. As someone who has attempted suicide, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that you sir are a godsend. Thank you and God bless you. And shout out to Sabrina in the shadows. That New York accent is top tier.
I lost my brother to suicide. You don’t think you matter but when you gone it crushes everyone around you. You don’t know how much you impact other people. Hang in there and know that other people do value you.
I loved the Batman. Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne was perfect for Year 2 Batman. He was intended to be Reclusive as Bruce Wayne was in the year 1 comic. I have a feeling that in the next Batman movie he's going to be a more extroverted Bruce Wayne
Most people I've heard talk about the movie gave the critique that Robert Pattison was a good Batman but not a good Bruce Wayne, but like you mentioned in the context of the movie it made sense. You don't even have to be familiar with the comics imo to see that because I think they did a good job explaining that in the movie; this Bruce Wayne wasn't quite the Bruce Wayne we know and he also isn't the Batman we know. This movie in a way felt like an origin story for Bruce Wayne and Batman's identities. This movie makes a great transition for the next move with recluse Bruce becoming the sociable, playboy, philanthropic Bruce we love and vengeful, dark, somewhat gritty Batman becoming more of a symbol of hope. I think Robert Pattison can be charming so if he turns on the charm for the next movie which I believe is already the plan it will definitely be a hit.
This was a 3 hour movie, felt like an hour. That's how good this movie, this story was. People love the Dark Knight series because of the Joker's and Bane's acting. But those stories were God awful. The Batman's story was well told, like in the Arkham games. I was absorbed.
That Martha Kent rescue scene from Batman vs Superman was amazingly choreographed. It's like the choreography team studied the combat from the Arkham game series and captured it live action.
YES!!!!!! This The Batman Felt like those arkham games regarding the story. But that fight scene is BVS was probably the closest we will ever get to that style of fighting in a movie. That scene was better than all fight scenes in all batman movies ever
This Batman is DCs best. The movie is based off the comic books from the 80s. And there is a reason why DC stands for Detective Comics. The Batman is DCs Sherlock Holmes.
I grew up watching Roger and Ebert critic movies and a few other European American men but other then “Men on Films” from In Living Color, I have never seen one of us do a serious critic of movies. Thank you! You’re doing an excellent job with your reviews.
His Bruce Wayne look is a modern era look for today's society. When you're young you haven't developed that grown mature suave look just yet so it was by design.
No Tony this was awesome amazing. I never sat up in my chair at the movies. Except for the heath ledger as joker until this batman I was still on the jokers side I never rooted for the bad guy until heath. But this batman had me like wow! Oh yeah
I understand the detective aspect of the movie, but it wasn't enough to keep me interested. Movie felt like it ran longer than it should've. Hope it gradually gets better into the next films. Batman the character deserves it. Solid review on your end tho.
I hope all the people that had problems with Ben Affleck's Batman killing, have the same energy for Pattinson Batman, because as dope as that car chase was Batman was definitely the cause of a number of deaths during that scene 😁
I think Robert’s Bruce Wayne hasn’t separated his Batman life with his Bruce Wayne life. Since he’s still young, new, and upset, he hasn’t mastered having those two personalities separated, in the next batman I think he will have a better spilt personality on the two
I fully agree with the last act, it seemed random in the sense of how it compared to previous events. I also wasn’t feeling Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, but as Batman he was good!
I like that the movie showed how Bruce is much more confident and comfortable in the costume as Batman than he is outside of it. I actually like Val Kilmer's Batman. And I wonder if I'm the only one who could see this version of Batman growing into Val Kilmer's version of Batman 🧐
This was by far the best Batman as far as story telling, character development, and Thomas and Martha Wayne actually contributing to the story. I love how Gotham was an actual character in the movie and Arkham is finally gonna be in this. It's like the Arkham games in movie form. Emo Bruce is better than Playboy Bruce. Playboy Bruce is played out. Enough about the money. I also love that Batman was finally portrayed as a detective which is his entire thing "world's greatest detective". I also loved that he was barely out of costume. Even Zoe bodied Catwoman. Colin Farrell as Penguin was MINDBLOWING. Jeffrey as Gordon is a better matchup than fries and ketchup. I dont wanna hear about Christopher Nolan EVER again!
I think it was intentional not to really like him as Bruce Wayne. He didn’t like himself. Sometimes when people are trying to find themselves they can be a version of themselves no one likes. I agree with the 4 saxophones and Tony’s assessment of the ending.
We weren’t suppose to care for Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne. Since this is gonna be trilogy, I expect Matt Reeves to handle Bruce’s development like how he did the apes in the planet of the apes trilogy. The Batman movie was an origin film of the young Batman to soon become the Batman we know of. Soon we should see Pattinson learning the duality of being Bruce Wayne & becoming the Batman so it’s not so easy to believe one is the other since both are reclusive as hell
The movie uses these subtle parallels between Batman , Catwoman and The Riddler in which it depicts that their real selves is when they're in costume. Bruce Wayne is the persona he is slowly realizing Batman needs to create. The reason he can't feel like Bruce Wayne is because he hasn't grasped the need to be Bruce Wayne ( The Billionaire playboy Prince of Gotham) yet. Some of the genius of this movie is what it doesn't say. It refuses to spoon feed the audience. Like who the Riddler actually is and why he's on the journey he's in. It is never said out loud. It forces us to pay attention and see those answers by ourselves. That is so not Hollywood.
Definitely has room to grow as Bruce Wayne, but that's on purpose. Year 2 Batman is a bit emo, and wants nothing to do with Bruce Wayne/Wayne Enterprises/playboy socialite. But as Batman, he was incredible. Only up from here.
There's no difference between Bruce Wayne and Batman in this movie. I'm okay with that because he's barely in the public eye. I don't like when people say he's emo he's still broken from losing his parents; he never got over it which is why he's Batman. This movie was a 10/10 for me.
Yo Tony, I like the break down and though I haven't seen the movie just Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman is motivation enough. As for the elbow fighting style from the Nolan series, its a Spanish Martial Art called Keysi Fighting Method. I wish they incorporated different martial arts into his bag (ju jitsu, wushu, kung fu, muay thai etc). I also wanted the Riddler to be the the third villain in Nolan's series because he fantastic with cerebral driven plots and characters. My hot take is that the third movie was the worst of the trilogy and only Bane's character development made it interesting.
He looked more like the Crow than Batman. But I thank the cinematic deities they didn't visit Patterson on the crow. This was one of those movies where the supporting characters outshone the main one. To date I haven't seen a film where Patterson fits his role/character seamlessly. Except twilight, couldn't finish any one of those movies just ask me to stare unblinking at the sun instead.
Saw Tony Baker last night at the Louisville Comedy Club and now I see this on my feed…it feels like Christmas morning!! Love your content and your jokes - keep up the good work!
This has to be the weirdest Batman just because of how he is easily mixing in with crowds throughout this whole movie. Batman embraces shadow (Is the shadows), not a tank that just bulldozes his way through the scene. Emo Bruce Wayne seemed a tad annoying. The deleted Joker scene would definitely have fared better than what we got in the movie.
When they enter Riddler's apartment it was very **SEVEN**ish. My man had hundreds of notebooks, various different hangings, & the floor BEING CARVED UP. When police in a movie see carpet they should call "We need CSU." Pull up that carpet and take a look
Agreed Tony! Outside the suit, he wasn’t appealing but the look of Gotham City and Gordon made it a pretty solid movie. Loved the detective story though! 💯👏🏾👏🏾
I think thats the point EVERYONE misses…he WASN’T Bruce Wayne. That mask was NOT created/nor was he still embracing his name (somethibg mentioned and a theme in the movie). He was still empty. He was still growing. He was trying to find his way. Thats the point. Next movie we will see him more as Bruce Wayne. Cuz there are other images and movies (like Tenent) where yhere is a Bruce Wayne somewhere; you also see him doijg that as the movie progresses coupled with some KEY VISUAL CUES THAT SHOW him bringing back Bruce. But in this movie-Bruce was still hiding; like Pattinson said he was “Vengeance”.
Agreed! And I think that is important to this story. He was, like Tony said, bucking against Bruce Wayne. He didn't want that life and it showed. I was happy. Plus... Bruce Wayne, imo, is boring. If I wanna see a spoiled Billionaire I would stay in real life!
I really never thought that much about it. Only thing I've ever said was batman's going sparkly now. You know just joking around like you know twilight you know just normal shit but I never said anything about him being bad I was like hey who knows he played a vampire and they're so close to bats who knows maybe this will give him the vibe he needed to get rid of the twilight years he's been trying to get rid of. And I loved this movie he was awesome and if he made another one I'd definitely see it.
They backed off of the Cinematic Universe craziness and went with a more realistic but more 1940s Noir Batman that was closer to true origin Batman style esque. And it was really cool to see. It would definitely be a major setback to anyone younger expecting the only Batman they know, which is a high flying speedy kung fu cinematic super soldier with inhuman strength. But that's not really a takeaway when you consider this is not trying to be that. This is classic "The Batman". It was realistic enough as a detective film that you could almost see this Batman in the real world lol.
Who should be the next Batman villain Colin Farrell as Pingwing. he was in this movie but less screen time but next more time screen . we should look forward for Two Face teaming with pingwing. Also introduce Bane or The new Deadstroke or Rash Agul. ??
Tony. Man. I just saw this movie and I agree with most of what you are saying. I am hoping if they are going to do another that he grows into the Bruce Character. He gave me an angry adolescent guy vibe. I like how they mixed Ny and Chicago Astethic together to create a great Gotham City. Clark Street in Chicago's Downtown never looked darker. lol. I had no idea that the Penguin was Colin Farrell Wow! I love Jeffery Wright period. That cat could read the directions to put IKEA shelves together and i would be all in. Zoe Kravitz was great and yes i kept saying the same thing about Zoe. I Kept seeing her dad's face and her mom's face then Her face! Like Gotdamn... LOL. What you need girl!? Man. I am someone who loves a good villain. The Riddler was not goofy he was mad cerebral which i loved. Who was that Joker at the end? I am super curious. I liked the movie more than I didn't like it.
"All Day and a Night" is the name of that Netflix film that Jeffrey Wright played the father in. I thought it was a "okay" movie. Very slow burn and very different seeing him like that. It was just okay. But I degrees, we are not here for "that movie" breakdown lol
Great review, however I definitely disagree about Val Kilmore as Batman. I actually think he was one of the best Bruce Waynes. George was the worst to me by far. Roberts Bruce Wayne I think will eventually come to his own. He definitely was not interested in the shenanigans in this movie. 🤣
It's awesome you get the mood Batman was trying to get. But what I get is like how Tony Stark wasn't Ironman yet till after Civil War. I think that's what they are going for is Batman is developing Bruce Wayne. But we'll have to wait till the Batman 2
When I heard Heath Ledger was cast as Joker I was like "10 things I hate about you guy" NO WAY!!!!! Then I ate my words!!! lol.... that's what I was hoping with Robert.... but I was thoroughly disappointed.
I feel like Robert Pattinson would have been better as Night Wing. He was good as Batman, but I can see him better as Dick Grayson. The movie did mention Bludhaven. Although he was ok as Batman he was terrible as Bruce Wayne.
Yo Tony, I gotta TV series for you. Check out "FROM" it's an epix original series, I believe it's on prime also. Seen 3 eps now, and so many questions. It's a good time. 🤟🏾🤟🏾
Minor Spoilers but nothing plot related. The wearhouse scene is by far one of the most badass batman fights on film (thabk you BvS), but the first time he goes to the iceberg lounge looking for penguin or when he's fighting riddlers snipers during the climax i found a lot of good moments that made me think of Arkham and that wearhouse scene. But that's also personal opinion.
I just don’t want anything to be better the heathe ledger and Christian bale movies. Imma watch it tho. Also I commented this before I watched this video… you the greatest dawg
Hey Tony, Pattinson has done alot of movies since Twilight. Check out Good Time, Lost City of Z, and Tenet. I agree Zoe Kravitz was a way better Catwoman than Anne Hathaway.
Movie wasn't bad i just felt like it had a hush and the long halloween vibes which were two dope movies i might have to watch it again. Like tony said the 3rd act was kinda meh. Im gonna give it another try though.
Tony Baker deserves so much more popularity than he gets. He’s funny, talented, a great person, and he needs to be in movies, tv shows, national stand ups. He deserves to blow up.
All fax
This is true, but maybe TB don't want it🤔
He should’ve been a voice in that DC Super pets movie with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart
I can tell he's denied some contracts
Man I felt EVERY piece of positivity in this comment. I agree with everything you said!! 💯
Robert Pattinson was walking around, giving thugs concrete naps, to anyone who wanted it. #TheBatman is a dope movie experience; watch it in IMAX if you can.
That I did.
Concrete naps tho 😂😂👏🏾👏🏾💯
@@jonnycashh3876 yknow when you go take a quick nap but then you wake up an hour later…

I agree about giving actors a chance. I never thought Heath would do what he did with The Joker.
Didn’t care for Pattinson as Bruce Wayne but his look and the way he acted fit the context of the movie. At the end of movie how everything came back full circle I think he realized his mistakes and will try to be a better Bruce in the sequels.

This Batman is DCs best. The movie is based off the comic books from the 80s. And there is a reason why DC stands for Detective Comics. The Batman is DCs Sherlock Holmes.

EVERY TIME
I hope all the people that had problems with Ben Affleck's Batman killing, have the same energy for Pattinson Batman, because as dope as that car chase was Batman was definitely the cause of a number of deaths during that scene 😁
Ehh I'd say Penguin was more at fault unless you wanna argue him chasing him caused all of that, only to let him go right after the chase was over.
Ben Affleck's custome and him being like 6'4" he looked amazing
I think Robert’s Bruce Wayne hasn’t separated his Batman life with his Bruce Wayne life. Since he’s still young, new, and upset, he hasn’t mastered having those two personalities separated, in the next batman I think he will have a better spilt personality on the two
I think the movie was good enough to wait for the 2nd one to see him develop into the billionaire playboy.

I am someone who loves a good villain. The Riddler was not goofy he was mad cerebral which i loved. Who was that Joker at the end? I am super curious. I liked the movie more than I didn't like it.
Hey can you do your normal movie review for this Movie with spoilers Please it would be Amazingly extraordinary Perfect Tony Love ya
Thank you, Ton.....nobody wants to admit that he did not give Bruce Wayne at all...that was a disconnect for me
When I heard Heath Ledger was cast as Joker I was like "10 things I hate about you guy" NO WAY!!!!! Then I ate my words!!! lol.... that's what I was hoping with Robert.... but I was thoroughly disappointed.
Now it makes sense why Andy Sirkus is Alfred
Get out my room Alfred 🤣🤣
Been waiting on this !!!!!!
Tony Baker needs a Netflix series and stand up special.
Soundtrack, camera work was great. 🔥
Is always fun when I hear Tony Baker’s take on a movie and then based on his take already know how many saxophones he’s going to pass out.
I feel like Robert Pattinson would have been better as Night Wing. He was good as Batman, but I can see him better as Dick Grayson. The movie did mention Bludhaven. Although he was ok as Batman he was terrible as Bruce Wayne.
Tony in sigma gear is a rare sighting 🤘🏾
😂😂😂 we need more reviews Tony
Definitely agree that Kilmer is the worst Batman... And Bale being "elbowy" lmao
Yo Tony, I gotta TV series for you. Check out "FROM" it's an epix original series, I believe it's on prime also. Seen 3 eps now, and so many questions. It's a good time. 🤟🏾🤟🏾
Completely agree, act three felt like another movie lol but hopefully we get another
Minor Spoilers but nothing plot related.
I would have gave it 2.5, 3 at most but I feel you
Batman and robin was bad but I love Mr freeze 😂
I agree 100%, I did not like his vibe out of the batsuit.
That’s Facts about the Elbowieness!
Value Kilmer brought the perfect jawline.
Without the chair the 🎷 dont hit like they use too
It was a good film and I think they hinted at Bane making an appearance in the future.
