I just had my 2nd best marathon time in a time trial last sunday with 3:21 wearing vaporfly next% with 248miles in them already. Was a very hot and humid weather but the shoes were still the fastest i've ever had and helped me recover and i jogged 10kms the next day. Still great workout shoes.
I started really noticing my Next% 2s feeling a very "flat" with close to 250 miles so I decided to do some research and found this video from your archive. I'm not exactly sure when it started feeling "flat" but workout paces feel a bit tougher than me maintaining my race day paces. I definitely noticed the flattened midsole less than 200. Thanks for posting this.
I have over 500mi on the VF4%; used as a trainer after 80 mi or so, retired mainly bacause the VFNext% took its place. The VF4% has been a great trainer for its cushioning, and the rebound is still not bad (not great anymore though).
Agree around 120 miles the pop was slowly going away, compared to a new pair it is night and day especially if you put a new one and old one on each foot and walk around you notice it definitely... as like you I retired the one pair of races and use on training only, and new pair for races.... Unlike other brands such like Hoka Carbon X, once the pop was gone so was the cushion and was difficult to use even as a trainer, sadly retired those as a whole after 160 miles, Vapor fly will go 300 miles no issue before I retire them as a whole I suspect... Worth every penny
How I wish that vaporfly can reach Philippines. I’ve only been using zoom fly 3 which is the closest I can ever get. Send me that retired one 😂 Keep posting informative videos. I’ve learned a lot💪🏼
Late comment but great review! Love the shoe and I put off jumping on the bandwagon for 3 years. Went from easily winning races to losing a few and thought some of the AG (54) runners were doping - lol. I only have 120 miles on mine and they look worse than yours but nothing a little rubber cement and pieces of other shoe outsoles can't fix. First race in them was at a chubby 75 kilos and definitely not in shape and ran a respectable half in 1:17 and was expecting 1:20 considering my fitness level.
What’s your guys experience with this shoe?! How long did it “last”? Comment your Q&A questions down below 🙂 You guys are awesome! Be sure to sub to the channel :) RUclips.com/InTheLongRun
Yeah, I've got 500k / 300 miles in mine and still going strong. Just bought another pair of the mango because the alphafly just isnt doing it for me ...
@@InTheLongRun I appreciate that you take time to interact with your community even if it's from an older upload, the majority of channels don't do that
What are your thoughts comparing the Vaporfly to the Alpha for marathon races? Which do you prefer, since you've spent quite a bit of time in both? Which do you prefer for racing the most? Thanks! I own the Vapor and love it and saving it for my races. Will do my own Half Marathon next weekend and may use it or save it for an actual race (have other light shoes to consider).
Tom Rosencrantz Right now, Alphafly for marathon. I haven’t raced one in them yet but they will be my go to then. Vaporfly for pretty much everything that isn’t a half or full lol Check our my other videos. I have a playlist on nothing but Vaporfly vs Alphafly
Just bought my first pair of Next%s after reaching about 100 miles in my 4%s. Was considering the Alphaflys but the Nexts just seem to be better over a wider range of race distances. Would be interested to know what's your current mileage in your Alphaflys and how is the performance holding up over time?
I used to train in Zoom Fly 2 and race in 4% in 2018. When both shoes got old, I retired the Zoom Fly 2 and moved the 4% as my fast day shoe. Pretty much have been on a cycle of retiring old Next% or 4% to a workout shoe and then a newer one to races.
Probably not. World Athletics banned them for the track (don’t know if that affects the high school scene), and anything under 3200m you are better off wearing spikes. I don’t think they are banned for cross, but you could Nike ID a waffle bottom for XC
Do you mean the sound in between jump cuts? I think that is a glitch iMovie. When I edit it I don’t hear it, sometimes after I upload, between jump cuts, it does a random sound
In The Long Run hey I appreciate you man, sorry for spamming your IG with likes but gawd damn, you are a motivational runner. I normally run every other day, no more than 2-4 miles every session..
No worries man, I appreciate it. Spam all the likes you want, it helps the algorithm, haha. Keep grinding and trust the process. Keep your eyes on the prize 👀
In The Long Run any recommendations on runnings shoes? Now since my alphas are on hold to hopefully get repaired? Just crazy that I have only had them since their latest drop and already the rubber is worn off by the AirPod.
Lucas Duys If you can go outside within 500ft of your door, look up Tabata intervals. The purpose right now is just to maintain fitness. If you can stress your body well at least once a week, you can hold on to the fitness you are at for about 6 weeks. If you can’t go outside, you can do plyometrics to get your heart rate up
How's the cushioning on these shoes? And does it hold up for a while? I'm looking for a pair of training shoes for long distance runs and have history of knee issues.
Andrew Kryk it does hold up for a long time. They do keep your legs fresher between workouts. These aren’t training shoes, these are racers and should be saved for race day if possible. They only last so long. With the knee issues, albeit I do not know your history, but generically speaking from a runner’s standpoint on health and performance, you would benefit much more from strengthening hips, glutes, and core than from shoe choice alone
@@AK_4-7 Yes, these are suggestions of what I like, but feel free to ask around. The Nike React Infinity Run FK and Pegasus 36 are my two trainers. The Pegasus 37s are coming out in about a week.
The Next% or the 4%? 4% peels pretty quickly. The Next % (these) are much more durable. If you mean wear by way of crinkling in the Zoom X foam, that is normal
In The Long Run Hi! I bought the Next% , there are small tears in the foam at the back of the heel on the sole, quite disappointed after only wearing for total of 25km
