Hey buddy. I have a 09 Mustang GT that I have neglected and let sit for 3-4 years. It was running fine. I'm trying to drain the bad gas but the hose/pump trick didn't work because it gets stopped/blocked. I've dug out like 50lbs of mouse nests but when I inspected the engine bay and behind the glove compartment I didn't see a single chewed wire so I have my hopes up. My plan in the drain/replace the gas, coolant and oil. The battery too. Not sure if I need to do the other fluids right away. Do you have any tips on draining the gas for someone that is a glorified novice when it comes to cars? I'm putting a bunch of peppermint oil and moth balls in it today to scare out any rodents. I did just get a mix of smaller tubing sizes so I am hoping that if there is just like a plastic "X" in the fill tube that I can sneak a smaller hose through.
@@WokeInsanity82 Easiest way I've found is to pull the fuel line off right before the injectors, find the fuel pump relay, and bypass it with a jumper wire. Just let it continuously run until the tank is empty.
@@themishapgarage3403 Thanks a lot! I read about that but I was a bit nervous to try. I'm just worried about sludge getting sucked up and messing everything up beyond my limited ability to fix. I tried syphoning again just now with smaller hoses but they are not stiff enough to push through. So when I jumper it and pump the gas out I will just need a good battery hooked up but won't need to turn the key right?Thanks a bunch! You'll be the next Eric O. in no time!
@@WokeInsanity82 Yes you'll need a good battery and yes the key will need to be in the on position but don't crank it. Just do it in couple minute cycles. After the tank is empty, find where the fuel filter is at and change it out if you're capable of doing that.
