  • Attorney Dan Marr from the Nashua, New Hampshire law firm of Hamblett & Kerrigan discusses the overall concepts of fairness, diligence, and dignity in terminating the employment relationship in New Hampshire and how following those three concepts can avoid later litigation. Fairness sometimes may include giving the employee that is currently trying but not a good fit an opportunity to cure some performance problems with even possibly a fellow worker coach. Diligence includes doing your own investigation and not just taking one person's view of an employee's performance deficiencies. Dignity includes not seeking to embarrass the fired employee during the employment termination process. The remaining employees may consider a firing as a morale boaster if done right or may at least not consider secretly looking for a new job because they view you as unpredictable in your severing of employment relationships.
