The book is underrated. Full of atmosphere, fascinating history and multidimensional characters, winner of a Nobel prize for literature, and yet we hardly ever hear about it. It certainly doesn't appear on any of the lists of '100 best books', which in my opinion it should. So how can it be overrated? That said, at least you had a go at it and gave it an honest review. Maybe you'd like the older (Archer and Scott) translation better. Most people do prefer the new (Nunnally) one, but I prefer the old one.
Hey, thanks for the comment :) This is an older video - my friend and I eventually finished the trilogy last year. In the end I found it worthwhile... the issues I had with it weren't fully resolved but it was good historical fiction and very thought provoking.
You have the most relaxing voice! This may not be classic literature, but a historical fiction novel I really enjoyed was certainly 11/22/63 by King. Another I read that I _guess_ could be considered a classic/historical fiction was Stoner by John Williams. Have you ever read either of those? (also I hope you don't mind if I follow you on Goodreads, I need some recommendations and I trust your taste! 😊)
Looking forward to hearing your reviews on the other two books! I’d be curious to see if the story ends up going where you think it’s going. I read these books in high school, and really appreciated their depth of thought. Not sure what I’d think now, though.
I don't know how much I have understood. The volume of the book is intimidating for me and surely I respect you for that. But I really like the little heart-shaped bookmarks, they are really cute 😅.
Its a bad idea making such a good and deep review on a book that might be precious to others and then say- i don't think I'm going to finish .. I dont care enough about the characters. Just a suggestion.
Thank you for the feedback! These were just my honest feelings about the book, and I tried to point out the good things as well. Also the first part, The Wreath, was originally published as one novel, so I think it is fair to review it on its own (which I did read entirely).

Thanks! :) I was very much turned off by The Wreath, but several people have urged me to read the other parts, so I may do that this year...
