I don't really know what this is about other than that its another rp based minecraft server, but this just gave me some of the strongest chills and feelings of horrified awe i ever experience, this is so impressive, i feel like i just got a glimpse into an entire new and foreign universe, im feeling so much right now
Oh my god?? The parallels between Phil trying to follow himself into the light and away from the cages, paralled by him putting on the mask for the sake of his team and kids?? The STAB WOUND THROUGH THE HEART?? Bolas looking like a deranged cult as they dance around the fire?? The freaking birds following Phil to form his wings?? Incredible work!
I love the detail of Jaiden standing over her own corpses because she kept getting killed and targeted by both teams that one time 😭 I still can’t get over how she literally let Elquackity kill her over and over just to get back at blue team
His blank stare into the camera at the end has to be my favorite shot. The birds becoming his wings is a very close second. There's just so much in such a simple scene

the soft expression in the animation near the end where phil looks up at 3:42 hit hard. Like how silence can say a thousand words. That's how good the expression work and timing is.
It's so hauntingly heartbreaking. You can see each one of them coming to terms with having to do things they didn't want to in hopes to get the egg babies back. Becoming the monsters they detested. Bad flipping that switch. Phill putting on that mask, symbolic of him putting on a mask of indifference to anything but winning. Phill getting stabbed in the back by one of his best friends, leaving a scar through the hardcore heart. I'm just in freaking awe. You made me feel so freaking much in a 4 min video.
This is just insane. I’ve watched it so many times and oh my gosh. It takes my breath away. I love the emotions on the faces, the frames of the crows as wings, bolas going insane around the campfire. It’s all so good.
Goddamn this is SO GOOD. I don't know why but my favourite part is the brief thing at 3:46 - just one image says so much. Like Phil's wings broke just at the boat and the two of them hit the water, and just like he carried Tubbo from the battleground to the coast, Tubbo dragged him out of the water and onto the boat weighed down by his busted and soaked wings. So good. edit: Also.... under a gas mask no one can see the tear tracks permanently etched to your face. It's so fitting for bolas.

OMG MAEPLE PLSSS KEYPOINTS OF 'OMFG' FOR ME! - Phil, simple yet elegant design - Etoiles, I love the half code, it's so distinctive yet perfectly describes his MC skib - Bad, just the blue contrast to the dark black he has. And when soulfire appeared too, the blue just matched heavenly. - Everybody's design omg they look so cool!!!!! - I love the crows shaped as big wings, its like we're there as well! - The stabbed wound and broken hardcore heart 😮 - The expressions as wellll, so simple but well defined. Idk how you do it so well. - I also love the soulfire and GG ninjas looking serious, then turn to Bolas who's dancing by the fire having the most fun. This…chills…. This is your best work yet. The composition. Each frame. The design. The anguish in their facial expressions. The nuance in their movements. You already blow it out of the water with every animatic but this one went to the goddamn moon. Also a note on the character designs. I love that your design of Tubbo shows his youth in comparison to the others. Tubbos the youngest on the server. And he was the leader of soul fire. You captured that perfectly. I feel like a lot of people forget how young Tubbo is but also treat him like a child bc he is the youngest. I could rant abt qtubbo all day but your design for Tubbo gave me chills.
I genuinely have no idea of what is happening here but I subbed because goddamn did you tell a story with not a single dialogue. With all the imagery of color, wings, wars and fantasy I thought this was from a videogame related to Zelda's BOTW or something but damn didn't think this was from Minecraft of all places! Kudos!

OHHHHH and the eye looking down on them all after phil killed the egg statue that was epic as hell. it just felt so fucking ominous how long you focused on the eye afterwards like nobody knew what and if the consequences after phil's actions there ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATING when I saw chayanne and tallulah run away into the darkness, and phil looking so small and alone in white emptiness without them. and then succumbing to suffering in the darkness UEUEUEUEUEUEUEUE also something that actually made me tear up but not entirely sure why: when we see phil closes his eyes as he puts on the bolas mask. I AM BAWLING something about it, it feels like sooo like it feels with the music a deliberate and slow action that he does. he sees chayanne in his mind so happy and he closes his eyes to remember him and he puts on his mask. likeAAAAAAAAA WHAT DO YOU MEANNNNN anywayssss LMAO I love love love this whole thing so so much

This is THE Purgatory animatic. Breathtaking and enthralling all the way through, I could go on for paragraphs and paragraphs and I probably will in my friends' DMs-but I will just say this, your animatics and this one especially are MASTERPIECES and absolutely stun me every time. I was so hyped for this and it didn't disappoint in the slightest. I'll be watching this dozens of times in the future and for months to come just to absorb all it has to offer. Thank you so much, I love seeing your art progress.
My gosh every time I watch this, the whole thing's absolutely amazing but especially the parts shortly after 2:15 give me chills every single time. Seeing all the teams split apart and separated, even when Phil and Missa are in the same shot they have different outlines, the designs of the mixed eggs and the music that goes along with it, it really drives in the feeling of everything being changed and separated. Also it really gets across the more unnerving side of team Bolas - them all staring at the sky with messed up eyes, Jaiden standing over dozens of her own bodies with a grin on her face, and especially all of them dancing in front of a fire with the vocal music in the background, just gives me chills. It's amazing just letting you know :D
A five-part frame-by-frame analysis, because this masterpiece deserves it: 0:18 The font is a perfect choice; speckled and messy like blood. And the title's written in white on red; the same color of the eye. Red in Purgatory has a double-meaning; Bolas, and Purgatory itself. And the bloodshed that inevitably comes when a disregard for violence meets an opportunity for it. 0:34 Nice nod to Phil's unusual ticket. Funny how he became captain later...since he was elected it wasn't foreshadowing, but it still feels poetic. 0:34 Philza looks hopeful as he flies toward the birdhouse (also drawn on a gray background), because he thought he'd see his kids. But at 0:36 he turns a bit red as his face turns horrified, because he's watching himself fall into the same trap; he thought he'd get his kids if he entered the cage, and now, he's entering another cage (Purgatory) for the same reason. 0:44 Notice Phil stops himself leaving that dark, cage-filled place because his kids' stuff is there. He has to play the 'game' to save them. 0:48 Not only are Bad's wounds colored for contrast, but only the blue being shown fits with him being part of Blue team. 0:50 More fantastic color usage! The red "WIN" was in the original message, but it also fits with the red of Purgatory, Bolas, and bloodshed it necessitates. And Bad's blue streak comes from the blood he's shed for Dapper (torturing himself via his son's pets, fighting, and killing), but the words also apply to Phil, and why he puts on his mask at the end; he's fighting for his kids. 0:55 Bad's blood looks like a tear. Very fitting, as is his blue eye; infection from his self-inflicted Soul Vulture torture (0:58), and him only seeing things through the lens of "my team--I--must win to save Dapper" (though Bad is the most connected to all the eggs, so he knows that'd be a hollow victory). 1:03 Really love the pattern of 'Team colors foreshadowed by personal lore'! Etoiles has the green code eating away at him (not from fighting the code, but holding the shield to protect himself and others FROM it; defender, not attacker--foreshadowing why Green lost; they spent too much time gearing up on day one and wound up last). And Etoiles has a star pin on his cloak, bc 'Etoiles' means "star"! 3:34 The transition between Bolas and Etoiles stabbing Phil is done with the flutter of a wing--as if that moment of betrayal was Phil decided to become 'Angel of Death' for his team. (Part 2/5) 1:09-1:12 Nice 'setting-the-stage' for everyone's mentality: Phil reading Tallulah's final letter (indicated by the black blocks in the foreground). Bad bleeding and hugging Dapper's hat (which he did until it disappeared from his bed), Cellbit's scarred arms showing (he removed his jacket prior to Purgatory, as he killed workers). Fit sweeping (turning to work to avoid jeopardizing his job to ask the Feds about Ramón), and Baghera crying (FOrever noticed her makeup faded from her tears) with her wings clipped. 1:13 Nice choice of lyrics with imagery! Etoiles believes there are good and bad codes, and is struggling to balance helping the codes with protecting the eggs and islanders. So the CODE sword dividing his face in a line--but a broken line--shows his difficulty in knowing how helping one side will hurt the other. 1:19 More red--the others are uncolored (neutral?) but Cellbit has already shed blood before Purgatory. He has decided to do whatever it takes to stop the Federation, which foreshadows his ruthlessness during Purgatory (red). 1:24 Phil is preparing himself to do the same, indicated by the red-tinted background and red hardcore heart. His love for his kids will motivate his ruthlessness, but for now, he's hesitant. The red is muted because Phil's suppressing that urge. He's still trying to use teamwork. Contrasted that with Bad in the next frame--whose background is dark and expression intense, because he's already made up his mind. 1:28 Etoiles is watching ElQ. Even during the election dinner, Etoiles followed ElQ, positive he was planning an attack. He carries that mentality into Purgatory, and was the first one to ambush ElQ when the Eye announced it had been 'among them' the entire time. (Interestingly, Etoiles is exceptionally kind to Q--encouraging his memory and giving him gear. So he does not carry this distrust to Q.) And of course, the next frame zooms in to ElQ because he IS affiliated with the Eye (whose symbol flashes the next frame). While 'covered-eyes' has long signified mystery in an animated character, it's extra poignant here, as the enemy is a literal eye. 1:33 Phil finding that skull drawing, photographing it, then having the photo disappear (plus the cage incident) has made Phil question his sanity and lose confidence. He had no 'hallucinations' in Purgatory (possibly bc they're caused by entities from his hardcore world, and he streamed no Hardcore during Purgatory), so he had enough confidence to lead, but felt obligated to protect and listen to his team's bloodlust. That skull undermined his confidence, showed forgotten histories seeping back in...just like the gas mask will represent Phil's love for his kids seeping back in--but hardening his heart, instead of softening it. The skull fits with the death Phil will cause--and the shape even resembles his gas mask! And flowers are growing out of its socket, as if Tallulah (who q!Phil may remember before the entity) knows what he's doing and wants to give that piece of her father a hug.
(Part 3/5) 1:42 Phil has an epiphany that this entity led him to the birdhouse, and is why the birds have been following him. Perhaps (headcanonically), this entity healed Phil's wings in Purgatory (thus the wings)? Or this tiny answer to Phil's many questions about his hallucinations is liberating/ties to his past as the Angel of Death (thus the wings). 1:52 Nice detail of Forever's hair being singed short from the Nether, burns, his black concrete infection, and the flower he wrapped around his wrist. 1:56-1:60 100% accurate locations and signs. 2:04 Nice to include the Deathduo reunion, since their division is brought up later. 2:08--2:11 OOH--the three people with decorated tickets, since that was a mystery (that's unresolved...so far). Including ElQ nicking Quackity's ticket when he kidnapped him (thus the black blood splatter, I believe). 2:16--2:19 The captains with their crests. Their eyes are colored, because the teams created rifts. 2:20 Those rifts start here; Missa has blue eyes (his team color), while Phil's are red. The background is red, as they're in Purgatory, and blood must be spilled. 2:21 A wide shot to emphasize their distance on opposing sides. Phil's hand is not on his heart, but his new captain crest (positioned like a second heart on his chest). 2:22 A neat way to show the Eye's message, but also fits with those members being Bolas, and going insane. 2:23 Not only are the human fusions of the eggs drawn, but the ground they're on changes texture to match the different spawns (snow, grass, and sand). 2:26--2:27 The varying energies of the teams are shown; Jaiden looking terrifyingly unhinged yet proud over her corpses (she tricked blue and green into killing her many times to secure an alliance), while Etoiles carries his team mostly alone, and peacefully (with honor; he spares people when he can). 2:28--2:30 The captains and the 'lovers' of both sides square off. Meanwhile, Bolas finds that ridiculous, and cheers for everyone. Phil's heart is slashed here, since the end of the animatic is a flashback. So, points for consistency! 2:33 The operatic music pairs FANTASTICALLY with the dancing Bolas bonfire! They look like marionettes, tugged aroud by the hands of fate--which is very much WHY they thought they were the cursed team. The colors and composition also match the Eye--white center, red on top, black around--as if Bolas's insanity, consequential camaraderie, and persistent victim complex (which 'justified' them killing stone Pommechas) are part of its plan. 2:36 Speaking of killing Pommechas, Foolish and Phil are not wearing their masks--as if they are sane when making this choice. It's THEM--not Purgatory, or the Bolas mentality. And that's why Phil's hesitation (and red eyes) say so much; despite it being HIM in control, he still brings the axe down.
(Part 4/5) 2:50 Everyone's equally horror struck by the Eye. Interesting choice to depict Green team as themselves, instead of absorbed into the other teams. 2:58 The choice to set the egg reunion in a void was so powerful. It feels unreal, dream-like--which Phil fears, he doesn't want this to be a trick or another hallucination--and it shows the Eye always had the power, and the eggs were not the parents' (yet). 3:06 Lovely use of the lyrics! Chayanne mouthing "We should be together", because he always swore to protect Tallulah. (Love the design choice for Tallulah to be the taller of the two--just like her dad, and it makes Chay's words more endearing). 3:10 The eggs falling could be when they 'fell' into Purgatory and were kidnapped by the Eye. 3:18 Tallulah's gaze here cuts DEEP. She and Chayanne running into the dark, because the eggs RAN AWAY. They left their parents--sure, to protect them, but they did it voluntarily. And they spent months in the forest--not on Egg island, but close to home. And Chayanne was the one who asked all the kids to leave. That, to Phil, feels like a betrayal. 3:32 Phil freezes, upon realizing his kids LEFT of their own volition. And then the blood he's spilled catches up with him, tinting him muted red. He has a choice; continue to kill, or not? Phil is not just realizing--he's remembering. Remembering everyone knew before Purgatory that their kids MAY have left willingly. And yet they still killed, assuming they wanted to be saved. And if they didn't...what was this all for?
(Part 5/5) 3:25 So Phil weighs the mask in his hands. Bolas flashes--entirely red, entirely resigned to bloodshed. But also his only remaining family. But Phil isn't one of them. Not yet. So his red is faded. The frames that flash show Bolas killing freely, and then, 3:33 shows Etoiles. Not Bolas, not insane, not desperate--an empty field around him, yet he still chases and stabs Phil in the back, right through the heart. And the background is bright red, because this display is just as violent, no matter who it's from. And it was from a friend. Etoiles always struggled with which side to choose. He didn't think this stab would mean he's chosen one. But to Phil, it did. 3:34 The feather flew across the screen--like the feather on his card. The reason he was different, marked from the start. What the reason? He never found out. Maybe it's like the cursed team...it wasn't real. Nothing was. Not the visions, not his kids' loyalty, not a reason for them being here. They hoped it was for the eggs, but it was just to suffer. 3:36 Phil's tear-stained face is empty as he realizes everyone turned on him. All their kids left, and in their absence, their parents became monsters. Phil has nothing left to lose. He's holding their items (just like he did in the birdhouse) as if saying 'come back to me', but his kids are already gone. They left, and stayed away willingly. Phil's heart is already torn, the same dull color combo it was at 1:24 as he's faced with the same choice; "How far will I go to find my kids?" Before, Phil chose to hold back. To trust his bonds, to stay loyal. But that failed. 3:46 So Phil is loyal, one last time. He lets himself feel. Chayanne's desperate face, the terror of the Eye, saving Tubbo, being pulled aboard the ship by a former enemy--it all has that red of violence, and of the love that prompted it. Here, the love triumphs. 3:55 But his kids are still gone. They're dead, and they died because they ran away, and he will never fully understand why, but he'll hurt just the same. So he does what they'd not want him to do--because apparently, they think he would. He puts on the mask. He hides his empty face. And the heart beneath it is broken. 4:00 And it is not muted-red Philza, but the blood-red Angel of Death--who walks off, leaving a trail of blood in his wake.

It's so hauntingly heartbreaking. You can see each one of them coming to terms with having to do things they didn't want to in hopes to get the egg babies back. Becoming the monsters they detested. Bad flipping that switch. Phill putting on that mask, symbolic of him putting on a mask of indifference to anything but winning. Phill getting stabbed in the back by one of his best friends, leaving a scar through the hardcore heart. I'm just in freaking awe. You made me feel so freaking much in a 4 min video.

Goddamn this is SO GOOD. I don't know why but my favourite part is the brief thing at 3:46 - just one image says so much. Like Phil's wings broke just at the boat and the two of them hit the water, and just like he carried Tubbo from the battleground to the coast, Tubbo dragged him out of the water and onto the boat weighed down by his busted and soaked wings. So good.
edit: Also.... under a gas mask no one can see the tear tracks permanently etched to your face. It's so fitting for bolas.

This…chills…. This is your best work yet. The composition. Each frame. The design. The anguish in their facial expressions. The nuance in their movements. You already blow it out of the water with every animatic but this one went to the goddamn moon.
Also a note on the character designs. I love that your design of Tubbo shows his youth in comparison to the others. Tubbos the youngest on the server. And he was the leader of soul fire. You captured that perfectly. I feel like a lot of people forget how young Tubbo is but also treat him like a child bc he is the youngest. I could rant abt qtubbo all day but your design for Tubbo gave me chills.
I genuinely have no idea of what is happening here but I subbed because goddamn did you tell a story with not a single dialogue. With all the imagery of color, wings, wars and fantasy I thought this was from a videogame related to Zelda's BOTW or something but damn didn't think this was from Minecraft of all places! Kudos!

Breathtaking and enthralling all the way through, I could go on for paragraphs and paragraphs and I probably will in my friends' DMs-but I will just say this, your animatics and this one especially are MASTERPIECES and absolutely stun me every time. My gosh every time I watch this, the whole thing's absolutely amazing but especially the parts shortly after 2:15 give me chills every single time. Seeing all the teams split apart and separated, even when Phil and Missa are in the same shot they have different outlines, the designs of the mixed eggs and the music that goes along with it, it really drives in the feeling of everything being changed and separated. Also it really gets across the more unnerving side of team Bolas - them all staring at the sky with messed up eyes, Jaiden standing over dozens of her own bodies with a grin on her face, and especially all of them dancing in front of a fire with the vocal music in the background, just gives me chills. It's amazing just letting you know :D
A five-part frame-by-frame analysis, because this masterpiece deserves it:
0:18 The font is a perfect choice; speckled and messy like blood. And the title's written in white on red; the same color of the eye. Red in Purgatory has a double-meaning; Bolas, and Purgatory itself. And the bloodshed that inevitably comes when a disregard for violence meets an opportunity for it.
0:34 Nice nod to Phil's unusual ticket. Funny how he became captain later...since he was elected it wasn't foreshadowing, but it still feels poetic.
0:34 Philza looks hopeful as he flies toward the birdhouse (also drawn on a gray background), because he thought he'd see his kids. But at 0:36 he turns a bit red as his face turns horrified, because he's watching himself fall into the same trap; he thought he'd get his kids if he entered the cage, and now, he's entering another cage (Purgatory) for the same reason.
0:44 Notice Phil stops himself leaving that dark, cage-filled place because his kids' stuff is there. He has to play the 'game' to save them.
0:48 Not only are Bad's wounds colored for contrast, but only the blue being shown fits with him being part of Blue team.
0:50 More fantastic color usage! The red "WIN" was in the original message, but it also fits with the red of Purgatory, Bolas, and bloodshed it necessitates. And Bad's blue streak comes from the blood he's shed for Dapper (torturing himself via his son's pets, fighting, and killing), but the words also apply to Phil, and why he puts on his mask at the end; he's fighting for his kids.
0:55 Bad's blood looks like a tear. Very fitting, as is his blue eye; infection from his self-inflicted Soul Vulture torture (0:58), and him only seeing things through the lens of "my team--I--must win to save Dapper" (though Bad is the most connected to all the eggs, so he knows that'd be a hollow victory).
1:03 Really love the pattern of 'Team colors foreshadowed by personal lore'! Etoiles has the green code eating away at him (not from fighting the code, but holding the shield to protect himself and others FROM it; defender, not attacker--foreshadowing why Green lost; they spent too much time gearing up on day one and wound up last). And Etoiles has a star pin on his cloak, bc 'Etoiles' means "star"!
3:34 The transition between Bolas and Etoiles stabbing Phil is done with the flutter of a wing--as if that moment of betrayal was Phil decided to become 'Angel of Death' for his team.

1:09-1:12 Nice 'setting-the-stage' for everyone's mentality: Phil reading Tallulah's final letter (indicated by the black blocks in the foreground). Bad bleeding and hugging Dapper's hat (which he did until it disappeared from his bed), Cellbit's scarred arms showing (he removed his jacket prior to Purgatory, as he killed workers). Fit sweeping (turning to work to avoid jeopardizing his job to ask the Feds about Ramón), and Baghera crying (FOrever noticed her makeup faded from her tears) with her wings clipped.
1:13 Nice choice of lyrics with imagery! Etoiles believes there are good and bad codes, and is struggling to balance helping the codes with protecting the eggs and islanders. So the CODE sword dividing his face in a line--but a broken line--shows his difficulty in knowing how helping one side will hurt the other.
1:19 More red--the others are uncolored (neutral?) but Cellbit has already shed blood before Purgatory. He has decided to do whatever it takes to stop the Federation, which foreshadows his ruthlessness during Purgatory (red).
1:24 Phil is preparing himself to do the same, indicated by the red-tinted background and red hardcore heart. His love for his kids will motivate his ruthlessness, but for now, he's hesitant. The red is muted because Phil's suppressing that urge. He's still trying to use teamwork.
Contrasted that with Bad in the next frame--whose background is dark and expression intense, because he's already made up his mind.
1:28 Etoiles is watching ElQ. Even during the election dinner, Etoiles followed ElQ, positive he was planning an attack. He carries that mentality into Purgatory, and was the first one to ambush ElQ when the Eye announced it had been 'among them' the entire time. (Interestingly, Etoiles is exceptionally kind to Q--encouraging his memory and giving him gear. So he does not carry this distrust to Q.)
And of course, the next frame zooms in to ElQ because he IS affiliated with the Eye (whose symbol flashes the next frame). While 'covered-eyes' has long signified mystery in an animated character, it's extra poignant here, as the enemy is a literal eye.

That skull undermined his confidence, showed forgotten histories seeping back in...just like the gas mask will represent Phil's love for his kids seeping back in--but hardening his heart, instead of softening it.
The skull fits with the death Phil will cause--and the shape even resembles his gas mask!
And flowers are growing out of its socket, as if Tallulah (who q!Phil may remember before the entity) knows what he's doing and wants to give that piece of her father a hug.

They look like marionettes, tugged aroud by the hands of fate--which is very much WHY they thought they were the cursed team. The colors and composition also match the Eye--white center, red on top, black around--as if Bolas's insanity, consequential camaraderie, and persistent victim complex (which 'justified' them killing stone Pommechas) are part of its plan.
2:36 Speaking of killing Pommechas, Foolish and Phil are not wearing their masks--as if they are sane when making this choice. It's THEM--not Purgatory, or the Bolas mentality.

3:25 So Phil weighs the mask in his hands. Bolas flashes--entirely red, entirely resigned to bloodshed. But also his only remaining family.
But Phil isn't one of them. Not yet. So his red is faded.
The frames that flash show Bolas killing freely, and then, 3:33 shows Etoiles. Not Bolas, not insane, not desperate--an empty field around him, yet he still chases and stabs Phil in the back, right through the heart. And the background is bright red, because this display is just as violent, no matter who it's from. And it was from a friend.
Etoiles always struggled with which side to choose. He didn't think this stab would mean he's chosen one. But to Phil, it did.
3:34 The feather flew across the screen--like the feather on his card. The reason he was different, marked from the start.
What the reason? He never found out.
Maybe it's like the cursed team...it wasn't real. Nothing was. Not the visions, not his kids' loyalty, not a reason for them being here. They hoped it was for the eggs, but it was just to suffer.
3:36 Phil's tear-stained face is empty as he realizes everyone turned on him. All their kids left, and in their absence, their parents became monsters. Phil has nothing left to lose. He's holding their items (just like he did in the birdhouse) as if saying 'come back to me', but his kids are already gone. They left, and stayed away willingly. Phil's heart is already torn, the same dull color combo it was at 1:24 as he's faced with the same choice; "How far will I go to find my kids?"
Before, Phil chose to hold back. To trust his bonds, to stay loyal. But that failed.
3:46 So Phil is loyal, one last time. He lets himself feel. Chayanne's desperate face, the terror of the Eye, saving Tubbo, being pulled aboard the ship by a former enemy--it all has that red of violence, and of the love that prompted it. Here, the love triumphs.
3:55 But his kids are still gone. They're dead, and they died because they ran away, and he will never fully understand why, but he'll hurt just the same. So he does what they'd not want him to do--because apparently, they think he would.
