    Last Week's Video:
Meersburg, Germany - • Overnight in Meersburg...
    -
In this week's video, we made our way from Meersburg, Germany (about a 2 hour drive) to Füssen for a visit to Germany's most famous castle: Neuschwanstein!
As avid Disney fans, we naturally gravitate towards exploring Disney-adjacent landmarks. We got engaged at Disneyland Anaheim, honeymooned at Disney World, vacationed in Tokyo to visit Tokyo Disney, and stayed 2 nights in Aulani on Oahu. On this trip to Europe, we couldn't not visit the original inspiration for Walt Disney's castle at Disneyland Anaheim!
More importantly, this cultural icon for Germany boasts a unique history as King Ludwig II's last residence, and his last gift to Germany.
After parking, we made our way up to get tickets for the guided-tour. We then took the horse-drawn carriage to the base of the castle and hiked the rest of the way in. While video and photography are not allowed inside, we included images to give an idea of what to expect inside. A vast majority of the castle isn't accessible due to the fact the castle was never completed inside. Fortunately, we were amazed by a view from the 2nd story balcony overseeing the valley below, including the Alpsee nestled up against the Bavarian alps.
After enjoying the breathtaking views, we made the uphill hike to the newly opened Marienbrucke bridge. Again, a breathtaking view we won't soon forget.
After all of the hiking, we had worked up quite the hunger. We said our goodbyes and made our way to lunch at Ludwigs Stuberl for some authentic German food: a pretzel with cheese and some bratwurst and sauerkraut. A delish way to end memorable trip to Germany's Fairy-Tale Castle!
Thank you for watching, we hope you enjoyed the video! Be sure to subscribe. Next week we make our way to Austria to spend the night in a 12th century castle! Be sure to like, comment and subscribe! We'll see you in the next one!

Like out of a fairy tale!
The history surrounding the castle and its builder, King Ludwig, is very dark and mysterious. After building all of these extremely expensive fairy tale castles and living completely secluded in them, even sending his servants away at night, the government declared him insane and one night abducted him from one of the castles and imprisoned him near a lake. When he was allowed to visit the lake under the supervision of his doctor, they didn't return. They found them both floating dead in the lake and were never able to explain what exactly had happened...

King Ludwig's story is quite interesting/sad. From my understanding, he funded these projects with his own money, correct? Yet his own people turned on him. The tour guide (which mind you works for the government owned historical landmark) even implied themselves that Ludwig had been killed (they found no water in his lungs, implying he couldn't have drowned).

Where does one catch the buggy and the bus in the valley to ascend to the castle/bridge?

I've been to Germany 3 times and even lived there for 2 years. I always wanted to visit here, but never did.

Thanks for watching! Can confirm, the bridge was just recently reopened when we went in September. It was closed prior for foundation work.
